Built in 1893, this high school is shrouded by a number of ghost stories. Two of the stories involve the locker room just beneath the stage. In one case, the lead actress in a play was strangled in the locker room by a jealous understudy. The understudy simply went on the stage and took the murdered girl's place. This house, which has been converted into a museum, is said to be haunted. There is a wedding dress that moves, though it was originally in an airtight glass container. There is also a bed that never remains made. In the basement, there are screams which many think belong to one of the Baker's sons who was killed and stored in the deep freezer until the ground had thawed enough for him to be buried.
Perhaps the most famous ghost in Fyvie is the ghost of Dame Lilias (or Lilies) Drummond. In 1592 Lilias Drummond married Alexander Seton, Lord Fyvie. For nine years it seemed they were relatively content and Lilias bore Alexander five daughters. Yes, perhaps you can already imagine the trouble—five girls, five dowries and no heir. The rumor goes that Alexander began an affair with Lady Grizel Leslie shortly before Lilias’s sudden (and yet unexplained) death. Some claim Lilias died of a brokenÉ
The house is reported to be haunted by the Mayo family. In a fit of rage, Mr. Mayo killed his family and then hanged himself. It is said that if one approaches the house at night, he will be chased by dogs. The family will then come outside, get the dog, and invite the person inside. It is said that upon entering the house one will see a rope dangling the stair well. Suddenly, the rope and the family will vanish.
This Boys and Girls Club, located on a former burial ground is said to be haunted. Many have reported showers turning off and on randomly during the middle of the night. There is one report of the sound of children playing in the pool though it was covered by a tarp at the time.
Sheriff Seth Bullock was one of the most successful and famous lawmen ever to inhabit this town. It is said that even his stare could prevent a brawl from coming about. The hotel was founded in the 1870s by the sheriff, and he has supposedly roamed the halls of the building since his death in 1919. .
