Real Haunted House

Fort Langley, British Columbia

Not very long ago, two brothers around the age of eight were out playing hide and seek in and around the house. Their mother could not find the boys for several days; she finally discovered them both death in the basement’s deep freezer. The boys were buried in the cemetery. A few months after the boys’ deaths, on the way home a mother and her two sons took a shortcut through the cemetery. They encountered the two boys chanting “Come play with us.” The mother paid no attention and let her boys go off and play. She then saw the pictures of the two boys on their tombstones. She cried out and her sons came running, explaining that they had only been playing hide and seek.

In the fort langley cemetary, there IS a tombstone of two young boys who died on the same day. Their pictures ARE on the stone. I couldnt find any reference to a freezer accident, but at least the story chec.ks out that much

HA! Yearbooker! You are one crazy son of a ..
For the rest of you..
In our last home we had a freeser where even an adult colud go in, but it was so full of food and other stuff that even me or my brother couldn’t fit in there when we were children. Even so, as it was in the basement (beacause otherwice it would have been on the way) I was allways scared to open it as a kid, ’cause I was afraid that I would find a corpse or something.
I’m from Finland so I do not know if there are big freezers in Canada.
I, myself, do not belive in this story. It has too many holes. Anyhow, I do belive in ghosts and that there may be some childen’s faces in tombstones. Everything is possible in this odd, crazy world..

Mistybear, they were in the DEEP freezer, Look at the word DEEP basically mean BIG. They took a shortcut through the cemetery and they were doing something called WALKING.

I lived in the house that the two boys died in. The freezer is big enough for three grown men to stand in. I did some research on the area, and apparently the two boys were buried in the same cemetery, died the same day, and same cause. Same surname as well. The woman who let her two boys play with the spirits, reportedly went insane. Her two sons committed suicide one year after their mother was went to an asylum.

I never heard of that story. Actually I was wondering if anyone ever heard of the story regarding the Marr house in Fort Langley. What I heard was that the ghose that is seen in the Marr house which is a resturant now, was a young girl that went to live with her aunt and uncle because she was pregnant, and that soon after she had the child she committed sucide, and that she is still seen today, anyone know anything about this story, would be interested in knowing. Thanks

Well, I’m moving to Fort Langley next month, so I’ll be looking for this headstone and if anyone has the address where the two boys lived, I’d sure like to make sure that it isn’t my house. I know that when I was kid playing hide and seek – that if one of us found a really good hiding spot – we’d both get into it before switching turns. Might also have been the hiding game sardines. 3rd boy couldn’t find them? Once saw a fridge in a lane with a sign: “Don’t open this door – Children Playing Inside”

Two Young Kids Can Fit In A Deep Freezer
When I Was About 8 My Sister And I Were Playing Hide And Seek With My Cousin And We Both Hid In The Freezer Together To AVOID Being Found. We Didnt Stay In long Though, It Was Freezing.

connie L Johnson says:

i believe them. In 1960, we had a big freezer that you could fit four small bodies in them. Also, I never believed in gost until We moved into a haunted house. I heard footsteps and windows would shut by themselves. Also I would wake up at 300AM and hear voices upstairs.

well i guess back in the day parents hardly ever watched their childeren, I`m so glade that I never grew back then or I wouldn`t be here today. My mother always watched us thank god!!!!! But ant whooo joseph Did the mother get sent to the asylum? or she take her self? cuz thats really unbelieveable, sorry but u gotta be a better story teller then that.

paranormal researcher says:

March 31, 2009, 9:49 am

ghost work in mysterious ways, i have had experiences and yeah there were scary, but not as bad as what the mother had to go through, but it sounds like that the ghost itself was playing with the boys, the ghost probably told them to hide there most likely, or they were falling something that they saw they looked in the freezer maybe and were pushed in, and the door closed on them , but who knows, this sounds right even though it most likely isn’t:(

yaya says:

October 10, 2009, 12:30 am

This story is a bit fabricated. The two boys were not brothers they were friends. The other kids in the neighborhood were playing hide and seek and they (being 2) tried to copy the older kids. They hid in a freezer that was not working, It was outside someones house and when it shut it locked them in because freezers are air tight. I grew up on this street and it was a complete tragedy when this happened. Go check out their joint tombstones in the Fort Langley Cemetery.

Ian says:

October 13, 2009, 2:16 am

Yep this is true i grew up on wright street i had my older sister used to babysit them yep it true on what happend to these kids very sad it brings back memories again yeah i see their joint tombstone there picture of them both in gods hand out boys wow hope the family are strong they die so young very tragic so if you guys just not make jokes about this it would be best if you guys not make stories about this it hurts the families and friends and people who know what happened at that time thanks

I lived in Fort Langley when it happened, I was about three. They would have been about my age now. I don’t know any of the details, my mom remembers it more than I do, but it definitely did happen. The boy’s pictures are on the gravestone.

This whole story is false. Yes, the cemetary is haunted. But the spirits who haunt it are the ghosts a man and his wife. The man used to work in a logging camp, and had his left hand blown off in an explosives accident, so was nicknamed Lefty due to the loss of his left hand. His wife Mary was a half native Metis woman, who baked pies for friends and neighbors. The man and his wife loved each other very much, but when they died, they were buried a few headstones away from each other. They visit each other, and have been seen walking about the cemetary, holding hands.

The haunted restaurant in Fort Langley is The Bedford House. I know someone who used to work there, and one night she saw and heard the piano play by itself, and it was not a self playing piano. SPOOKY!!!

I grew up in fort Langley and have seen the husband and wife walking towards the fence closest to the park. I then heard laughing and figures skipping around a bush. They just disappered as quickly as they came. When I turned back towards the park the man and woman were also gone. I was with a friend and we were so scared we just started running towards home. We were never in the cemetery, we were walking down the street beside it.

I was out in that Graveyard in fort Langley the other night and in the north west corner there is a felling of dread… don’t know but it wasn’t a happy spirit there…a very angry spirit. i don’t think this was the little boys but still there are spirits not at rest there

Actually the story is close to a true story that happened. In 1988 two boys, not related (Jonathan Dyck and Dustin Mather, aged 2 yrs) crawled into the freezer part of some antique tricycle ice cream carts the Mather family owned and were trying to sell. Once the parents, who were packing up the family van for the weekend, noticed the boys were missing, the RCMP were called. After 5 hours the police dos led searchers to the carts were the boys were found, suffocated. It was a snap-down lid, so once it’s closed, that’s it. It was a horrible tragic thing to have happened. The families buried the little boys together. As a Langley resident my whole life, I can tell you this is true and I remember it happening. The whole community was devasted.

Ok so this story is a half truth I did some research into this
Being a paranormal investigator its one I knew about
Here is the ACCTUAL news artical about this story and
I must say the background details are pretty close to the truth

Lisa says:

With regards to the story of the little boys. I remember when they went missing. It was in the late 1980’s or early 1990’s. The entire village was out looking for them. It was a tragic end for these little guys, who had crawled inside an old deep freezer that was not being used, and they suffocated. They were unable to get out. It was after this tragedy that the municipality required all doors and lids to be removed from old fridges and freezers. They are the two little boys in the cemetary. I believe they were friends, not brothers.

Lisa says:

February 19, 2013, 12:39 pm

The story of the little boys is does exist, but not the way it has been told here. It happened in the late 1980’s or early 1990’s. They had gone missing and the entire village was out looking for them. They were eventually found in an old deep freezer on one of their properties. They had been playing and crawled inside. The lid closed and they suffocated. It was a tragedy that affected the entire village. It was after this incident that the municipality required all locks and doors on freezers and fridges to be removed, to prevent another tragedy. They were not playing in the cemetary, but they are buried side by side.

A few years ago me and my friend were walking threw fort Langley cemetery and I looked on the corner of my eye I saw something white so I looked with a full on view and I saw something white coming from the back yard of the house by the cemetery it came from out of the ground like a glowing ghost it scared me I’ve been wanting to hear of what happened and this make so much sence on what I saw that day I was about 11-12 years old

Jodi says:

October 21, 2014, 10:16 pm

Sadly, this story is somewhat true. One boy was found hiding in an ice-cream freezer outside, while a group of children were playing hide and seek. I know the person who took the 911 call for this terrible incident. Was a very, very horrible day.

I guarentee that the story about the freezer is true, a close friend of mine and her family were in the search party looking for those two.
