I live in the states and last night on a ghost hunter show they did a segment on this mansion and spent the night there. There were 6 people. It was all caught on camera and one of the scariest things I have ever seen! The one gentleman did alof of research and said he found proof that Mary did not throw the baby out the window and the baby lived to be 63 years old. I would love to visit there sometime! Only in the daytime though…They caught tons of EVP’s and door knobs were moving, doors were slamming on their own and the guy had a block of wood thrown at his head out of no where…very active place!

my uncle used to work at the factory that backed onto the grounds of speke hall.one time when he wa coming to the end of his nite shift there,my uncle and his mate went outside for a quick ciggie,he said the in the dawn light,him and his mate saw a man dressed in cavalier uniform,with no head riding a horse across the front lawn of speke hall towards the house.he said you could see through both the man and the horse.my uncle isnt one to believe in ghosts,but this one time he said there is no explination for what they both saw.has anyone else heard a story about a headless-horseman? or if someone from around that ‘cavalier’ period who was connected to the house was beheaded?

I have just read all of the comments and stories. I remember the story of the woman throwing her baby out of the window when I was little (going back nearly 40 years). Maybe if’s folklore – who knows. When I was at school some of my classmates wrote into a magazine and spent the night there – nothing happened. I have heard (and believe) far more scarier stories from the house next door to my mum!

no he didnt have his sights on the maid because they had lost all there money and the woman went insane because she thought that they would get thrown out so she threw the baby into the moat then when she realized what she had done she killed herself

this is how the story goes…
there was a wife and a husband who likes in speke hall. one day the woman gave birth to a baby girl. the husband started to gamble and gambled everything they owned, even speke hall. the wife was so angry,she killed him and threw the baby out the window into the moat just outside! and then she killed herself!!!!!!

hello, i have been to speke hall many times, the first few times, nothing out of the ordinary. It was in my most recent visit that I encountered some strange activity. I felt a cold hand, on my shoulder, at first i thought it was my husband, John, but John was nowhere near me. So i carried on walking, heading for the door, but there was a whisper in my ear ‘hannah’ it said, in Johns voice, i jumped and turned around, John still wasn’t there. I got very freaked out, and took a deep breath, but when i exhaled, the was a whistling sound, coming from me, loud and high pitched, it wasn’t as if someone else was doing it, it was me! I fainted from shock, and when I woke up John was by me, looking very pale. He said I’d been speaking to him, about a girl, he said my words were ‘the girl, the girl, shes coming, away, away, the girl, shes coming’ but it wasn’t my voice, it was a high pitched voice. I thought that was the end, but as i stood up, my head fuzzy, I saw her, the girl, I’d never heard of what had happened, about sarah, but it was a girl, she was walking in a circle, a knife in her hand, saying ‘its my fault, its my fault’. she was wearing a wierd green dress, like chiffon, and it was blowing, her long hair was in a plait down to her waist, her hands were blood-stained. She turned round and looked at me, and i held onto John, he turned and his eyes widened, the woman closed her eyes, and shrunk smaller and smaller until she dissappeared. Could it be mine and Johns imagination? Well I don’t think so, especially as he described the woman afterwards, in the exact same dress that i had seen her. I don’t know whether the woman was Sarah, but i do know that I’m going to go back, and see what happens this time, but I will never go alone.

my mum took a picture of me and my cousins out side speak hall were near a window if u look in the window on the pic theres a figure of a woman in a victorian dress
