When the chapel was used by theater students, it was haunted by a ghost identified as Sydney Grimlett. When the thespians moved their operations across the street to the Telfair Peet Theater, Sydney followed. Sydney Grimlett, a confederate soldier, had his leg amputated before he died. When there are theater productions, Sydney makes his presence known by opening and closing drawers, making rattling noises, locking and unlocking doors, and destroying equipment only to repair it again. There have also been reports of pianos playing and footsteps on the catwalk.
