After losing the farm on a bet, the enraged man went home and axed his wife and son to their deaths. He then turned himself in to the police and served several years in jail. After he was released, feeling as if he had not been duly punished, the man placed bars on his windows to emulate the environment of his jail cell. It is said that through the bars, one may see the wife and child of the man sitting on the living room floor.
