Beginning with a small, fortified homestead in the middle of the 1700s, the property where Beardslee Manor now rests was occupied by European settlers. Located deep in the heart of the Mohawk Valley, the quaint homestead became an important storage depot for the local militia’s munitions. Legend has it that one evening a band of Native Americans sneaked into the homestead to investigate and their torches touched off the gunpowder—blowing them straight into history. Hauntings abound in this house. Footsteps have been heard on the wooden steps, the image of a man has appeared, TV's turn on during the middle of the night, with the volume on full blast, and objects have floated in mid-air.
The house is reported to be haunted. Due to this house, a haunting must be in the disclaimer in the sale of the house or else the contract is null and void. The house dates to the American Revolution, and since witnesses have seen revolutionary soldiers in certain locales of the property, the judge ruled that this haunting had to be put in the disclaimer.
During the Lyndonville murders, the family of five that resided in this house were killed. The house has been left untouched ever since, and it is said that anyone who dares to venture into the basement will become locked inside after the doors close by themselves. The only means of escape is to open the door from the outside.
Long ago, a woman was brutally murdered in this hotel. Since that time, there have been strange occurrences. It is said that late at night, the woman may be heard walking up and down the halls. It is also said that she knocks on the doors of rooms. When guests go to open their doors, there is nothing there but a cool breeze.
This house is said to be haunted by two different ghosts. One man appears to be the present owner�s father. He has allegedly been seen holding his great-granddaughter in an upstairs window. A grayish-smoke like figure has also been reported to pass through people in the home's kitchen. As the basement was being renovated, an unexplained swastika was found built into the linoleum floor. There were also large amounts of very old ammunition located in the ceiling.
