Real Haunted Houses in New York



Beardsly’s Manor

New York, Salsbury, United States

During the early days of the building, slaves were supposedly used here to do many of the tasks around the estate. It is reported to have a dungeon in the basement as well. After the manor was converted into a restaurant many years ago, many people have claimed to hear strange noises on the premises. Also, in the early 1990’s the building burned down, the cause of which is still unknown. The ghosts that supposedly haunt the building are most likely from its early days, but no one knows for sure.

Goeltz House

New York, Rochester, United States

Hauntings abound in this house. Footsteps have been heard on the wooden steps, the image of a man has appeared, TV’s turn on during the middle of the night, with the volume on full blast, and objects have floated in mid-air.

American Revolution

New York, Nyack, United States

The house is reported to be haunted. Due to this house, a haunting must be in the disclaimer in the sale of the house or else the contract is null and void. The house dates to the American Revolution, and since witnesses have seen revolutionary soldiers in certain locales of the property, the judge ruled that this haunting had to be put in the disclaimer.

The Pink House

Lyndon, New York, United States

During the Lyndonville murders, the family of five that resided in this house were killed. The house has been left untouched ever since, and it is said that anyone who dares to venture into the basement will become locked inside after the doors close by themselves. The only means of escape is to open the door from the outside.

Normandy Inn

Long Island, New York, United States

Long ago, a woman was brutally murdered in this hotel. Since that time, there have been strange occurrences. It is said that late at night, the woman may be heard walking up and down the halls. It is also said that she knocks on the doors of rooms. When guests go to open their doors, there is nothing there but a cool breeze.

The Rosino’s House

Long Island, New York, United States

This house is said to be haunted by two different ghosts. One man appears to be the present owner�s father. He has allegedly been seen holding his great-granddaughter in an upstairs window. A grayish-smoke like figure has also been reported to pass through people in the home’s kitchen. As the basement was being renovated, an unexplained swastika was found built into the linoleum floor. There were also large amounts of very old ammunition located in the ceiling.
