One slave, however, died on the way to Canada. It is said that this slave had wanted to earn money to go back and buy the freedom of his girlfriend-Nelly Gray. In response to the tragedy, the doctors son wrote the Civil War song, which became very popular in the North, &#8220;Darling Nelly Gray.&#8221; Since that time, the house has been haunted by an unknown ghost. It is so plagued by the apparition, that the deed of the house notes that it is haunted.</p>
