Real Haunted Houses

Real Haunted House

Airport High School

Columbia, South Carolina

The original part of this high school is said to be haunted by the ghost of George Pair, the school’s first principal. It is said that Mr. Pair frequently appears in the hall wearing a dark suit with a red tie. His wife who still teaches at the school says that George has told her he just wishes to protect the students. He closes the doors of teachers that work late. He follows students and teachers to their cars after late night activities. It is said that one may hear Mr. Pair’s footsteps walking through the hall though the halls were carpeted many years ago. It is said that this activity was caught on video by a group of adventurous teachers and students in 1994.

My son just graduated from Airport High (2008)where he participated on several sports teams. He has told me many times that he has seen the ghost of Mr. Pair after practices and games and when he was in the 500 hall, where he had several classes his senior year.

I was one of the students that caught the activity on video. This story is real. If you don’t belive, check into it yourself.

I don’t go to airport but I’ve been there for district orchestra concerts and now those footsteps that I heard behind me now make sense. I always thought it was my friends trying to scare me…

Oh, yay….. footsteps. Personally, I don’t think that it’s such a big deal. I’d actually love to visit this school just to figure it out. I’ve lived in haunted houses all of my life and actually liked it. I appreciate your story though!!

Hello all, I am from Columbia, I went to Chapin Elementary and Chapin Middle, moved to Orangeburg for 2 years and then moved back to Columbia to go to Heathwood. While in Chapin Elementary, I was chosen as one of 5 students from our school to take part in some event / contest going on at Airport High School. I was in the 4th grade I believe (1994) and each student had to pick a country and do a report on it; I think the winner got 100 dollars or something. Anyway, the 4 guys from my school had set up their stuff in the morning, I was late. When I got there they were out of tables and chairs so I had to go “exploring” to find some. I did and came back to set up. My mom came up to me about an hour later and asked what was wrong saying something like “you have been acting very strange since you left to get chairs” I don’t remember if I saw anything but i do remember being very uneasy walking those halls by myself. Something obviously got to me though because for at least a year my mom asked what was wrong with me that day, I was always a very energetic talkative kid and she said I wouldn’t talk to anyone and just stared off into space most of the day. I didn’t think anything of it until I read this (now 15 years later) and thought…hmmmmm, maybe…. I’ve never been back there since, but I would love to go someday. Never seen a ghost but I have seen my grandma’s angle floating in my room days after she died, pretty cool….

Yeah, I graduated from Airport in 2006 and I can tell you that in 4 years I never saw anything like what is described on this website. Airport isn’t haunted, at least it wasn’t 3 years ago when I went to school there. There were a lot of days I had to get to school real early, and sometimes I stayed real late, for different things and I never saw this ghost.
