Alcatraz
It is said that if one sleeps in a jail cell, sometime during the night, he will hear someone banging on the cell doors when no one is there.

Laurel, I don’t cusing…I assume you mean using profanity? If you’re a kid, where are your parents while your cristian self is reading adults cusing?
As for Alcatraz…I’m open to it being haunted. I live in San Francisco and have visited the prison several times. It’s quite spooky, and a perfect place for the traditional idea of haunting. The suffering must have been unbearable for the prisoners and their victims. I don’t consider myself a ’sensitive’ but I am a believer in the paranormal. I’d love to spend a night at Alcatraz but the chances are slim to none. It’s a fascinating place and I hope no souls are really trapped there.

Why are people posting random stuff…this site is REAL HAUNTED HAUSES meaning that if you see it you believe it is real…kinda the point of the show…and the staying overnight is bs…you could potentially get a chance or break the rules/law to do it…Alcatrez has to be haunted…look at all the murders and ****…

I woke up this morning, checked my email, and there was a missive from Buddie Lee who said he worked for TAPS. His spelling, tone and language makes me think TAPS is ****. I’d spend a night on Alcatraz. I live in San Francisco, have been on the tour many times. I believe in ghosts, I’m sure Alcatraz is plenty haunted. But there is no need to criticize California, or pretend you’ve ever worked for a ‘legit’ ghost hunter team. Is this a forum that should be on http://www.rotten.com?

Actually you can stay the night thru the park service in a cell. Its based off a lottery and must be submitted by Nov. The dungeons (citidel) and other off limit buildings are used for private tour and if you make a donation to the parks a rec you can ask for a tour of them but must be done well in advance. The “rumors” of banging cells are true and the reason Alcatraz is one of the most haunted places to visit in the US. Believe what want but at least experience it before you make your comments.

We went on the evening tour of Alcatraz, and it was an amazing place. We were really mad when the batteries of our camera’s were all dead after 10 minutes on the island…not all that surprising when you think of it, but we didn’t prepare! Bring spares if you go, we had ours fully charged! My husband is a non-believer, but came away with different views…:) It was abnormally cold in a few spots, and the uneasy feelings didn’t leave until we were back on the ferry again. I do believe this is a haunted, and special place. If you are in the area, it is very worth visiting, for the amazing history, and for spirit activity…if that interests you.

I didn’t add something to my previous comment that was possibly worth mentioning. I am very sensitive to energy, and throughout our time at Alcatraz, I became incredibly sad. My husband is very easy going for the most part, and got really argumentative while we were there. I am not sure if this is relative, but believe that several things are possible. It is a possibility that we were absorbing some of the negativity that was part of the history there….who knows?
Have a great time, if you visit, but be ready with spare batteries!

Yeah, i went to Alcatraz. it was hella cool. but, there was one spooky part. it was around 6:00 pm. i walked into Robert Stroud’s solitary confinement cell in D – block.(he spent 6 years in solitary confinement.) i took a camera with me to take pictures to maybe catch something interesting. it was so dark. the toilet was the only thing in there and it was just a hole in tha ground. i took about 12 different pics. when i walked out of the cell, i looked back to take another look before i moved on. the most f*cking scary thing happenwd. i saw an apparition of robert stroud appear for about one second, then just vanished. i blinked to make sure i wasn’t seeing things. i saw it again. he spoke to me this time. he said “get outta my cell!” i was freaked out. just to let you know… im making this up. hahahahahaha! i fooled you, biotch!

I believe Katie’s story because my house is some what haunted. Once I heard like little whispers in my ear and at first I thought that it was my sister because she likes to whisper before she comes upstairs but when I turned around and called my sister’s name no one answered me so then I heard my sister’s voice all the way downstairs. While I’m taking my shower I feel like I’m be watched but there is no one there but me. One time while I was sleeping I kept dreaming about my gradfather but then I found out what my dream meant. It meant that he wanted me to have a good life. My gradfather died on August 9 of this year and I am only 15 years so I’m a little afraid of being inside my house alone at night because that is when the things begin mostly.

Went to Alcatraz back in 1992 with friends. We went on our own tour. We went to the end of a hall and either you go left or right my friends went right but because I saw a yellow tape across saying not to enter I went left. about 15 yards into the hall it was getting darker then about 20-30 yards my hair on my arms stood up I had a creepy feeling that someone was watching me and I felt cold. I felt so uncomfortable I turned and ran out of there. That happened on a Sat on Sun when we came back to L.A the was a special on Sightings a program back in the 90’s. The psychic was in the same place I was in he felt a presence and also felt cold. Yeah this place is haunted.

People are curious aren’t you? I mean just the fact that you saw something or heard something is enough. I’ve seen a dark misty cloud at a theater in Montebello , CA AMC theater then I found out it was haunted. The employees there name sthe ghost “Charlie”

I worked at Alcatraz with the Park Service for 3 years and spent many a night on the island. The story that always comes up, in the net, print etc, is this story of the “green eyed” monster that supposedly drove an inmate to commit suicide in one of the solitary cells. That never happened and there is no record of any inmate committing suicide in that cell, I believe its #14…cant recall right off-hand. We’ve had “psychics” come to the island many times, most of which are frauds, others give vague information that cant be verified either way either true or false. We also have many ghost hunters come to the island and take thousands of dusty orb pics and say “GHOST”! I have audio recordings that are very interesting but I have shot video, film etc and most of the outcome cannot be concrete evidence of hauntings. Is Alcatraz haunted? You Bet! But these paranormal groups either want to see a ghost and will…or just never do any research prior to their visit.

Please everybody contact congress for a bill that makes it a federal offence for a non-hispanic to speak spanish because it causes hispanics to think they’re being made fun of and they think it’s racist and it causes violent responses, if you have a comment please post me one.

MY BLADDER WON’T CLOSE, OUCH!!!! It should be made a felony for anyone with incontinence to go out in public, and public urination in your pants should be a federal offense!

I have a scary story. In 1841, a man named James Arminstead built a house for his wife. His wife was named Giovanni de Caprica. One noght at 11:45 p.m Giovanni started screaming in her sleep. But then, she stopped. James went up to see her, but Giovanni was killed and kidnapped. James killed himself for he wanted to be with Giovanni again.
