Real Haunted Houses

Real Haunted House

AMC Hampton Theatres

Rochester Hills, Michigan

Three theatres were built in 1971, and in 1979 a fourth one was added. During the process of building, a worker was killed. Soon after construction was completed, many strange happenings were witnessed on the premises. Seats in the front row have rocked on their own, garbage cans rolled up the aisle, cans knocked over by themselves, lights flicker on their own, toilets have randomly flushed, and many others. These strange events have been witnessed by numerous patrons and employees. Over time, the employees nicknamed the ghost “Johnny”. The theatres closed on January 17, 1999 due to a lease expiration. In March of 1999, a group of former employees visited theatre four, said, “Hi.” to Johnny, and the lights mysteriously turned on.

I was a teenager when all this was going on at the Hampton Theatre. My friend bryan worked there and told me about other people seeing stuff. The only thing he saw was one night closing the Hampton he and one other person turned out the lights and locked the door. When walking out to the parking lot the light cme back on. They both turned them out again, but in the morning they were on again.
I ask the people at the Bed Bath & Beyond about anything happening and I’ve been told that at night the store give people the creeps at close.

ok listen people i have lived in rochester hills my whole life and its been a long 11years but i have been to that complex pretty much a million times. Nothing weird has ever happens there that I know of.so if you also live in Rochester hills don’t be freaked out whenever u go there. I am saying there is no ghost there but I know for sure my neighborhood is haunted in some areas.

ok its me again and I told you my neighborhood was haunted so I will tell you a story.I am typing this on a iPod touch so it is hard for it to be perfect. So one time my friend and I were in my neighborhood woods and we heard people yelling and screaming. So my friend did the stupidest thing and screamed out,”hello!”as load as she could and we heardthem say,”there they are,get em!” so we rsn out of there as fast as we could.we were thinking they were people but we heard there foot steps and yelling right next to us and yet no one was there. Once we got out of there we hopped on our bikes and drove them as fast as possible even though we were so tired to my house. It was so freaky!

I was at the theater a number of times over several years and noticed nothing unusual. The building was torn apart and redone for BBB; a friend worked there until last year but he said nothing of any weirdness. A manager there who I know slightly hasn’t told of anything I’ve heard, as well. It operated as a theater for perhaps 20-25 years. It’s possible that the only fright in that place was was during the time when they were showing horror movies.

wow, I don’t understand the reason for the harsh words on here when people are talking about their experiences. I used to go to that theater at least once a week, and even when I was a kid going there years before it closed, you always kind of got that weird vibe from there. My grandpa swears up and down that he sat next to “Johnny” once and he knocked over my grandpa’s popcorn. I wasn’t there for that, but he’s not the kind of person who would make that kind of thing up. Rochester and Rochester Hills in general is a pretty spooky town, a lot of crazy things have happened here and if I can recommend 2 places that you that haven’t been changed, they would be underneath the down town Rochester bridge and the Mt. Avon Cemetery (if after dark though, be prepared to be asked to leave by the police if found)

For those who complain about “the employees are the only one who have seen it,”; how else do you expect the word to get around?

Rob says:

AMC Hampton Theatres?…they can’t mean the ones that are behind Best Buy. There’s no way that they have been there since 1971.

What was/is the location of the theaters that they are talking about?

The only thing that I can think of would be the theaters at Winchester Mall.
