Real Haunted House

Anchuca Mansion

Vicksburg, Mississippi
By Lisa

The word “Anchuca,” is a Choctaw Indian word meaning “happy home,” and it is quite that for this antebellum home in Vicksburg, Mississippi, which is now a favorite tourist spot.

This majestic home is haunted by former owner Richard Archer’s daughter, “Archie” Archer.  She has been seen wearing a long brown dress in the dining room.  Also, those who have visited have felt a presence in the area what used to be the slave quarters.

Anchuca Mansion is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
