Aquia Church
This church is the site of a locally well known apparition. According to legend, a woman was murdered many years ago in the church’s belfry. It is said that she may still be seen from time to time peering through the window.

Maybe somebody can get this spook to come over and scare the traffic on I-95 into moving again? Traffic and spooks both like to linger on and on and on even after the incident is long gone.

I have been to this church at night. We walked through the grave yard and did see something in the window. There was a whole group of us and everyone saw it. Those who say it’s not haunted, go check it out in the middle of the night by yourself.

Im actually a member of this church, and I have heard the stories of the woman who was murdered in the attic. I hav been up there and its not too creepy but all the origional wood is still there and there is no blood. An oner woman has sead she saw the ghost, but she has bad vision, and also the EYC (young christion club thing) where telling stories in the grave yard and someone sead they saw a lady in white floating. there is also a place called witches pond. there was a man who killed his family by tieng them in the car and pushing it into the pond, also there is a sacrafice table that is from the 1700 and people and animals have dies on it. also there are animal carcases hanging from chains from trees, and they are alase fresh, even though the man died 20 years ago. people say there is a lady that can be frequently spotted walking around the woods. and if you think this is a load of bull, go chechk it out foryourself on telegraph road, its the first dirt road on the right, but its gaited so you have to park in the development that is close to it and haul a$$ to the road or people call the police

About 20 years ago, when I was in the Marines, a group of me and my frineds decided to go out there late afternoon/early evening. It was generally creepy, but we *did* go there looking (hoping) to see something. The graveyard is right next to the church. When we got there, the door was open to the church and there was an older gentleman standing just outside. We told him we were not there to cause a disturbance, we would just like permission to look around the grounds. He didn’t mind and seemed pretty pleasant. My friend stayed and talked to him for a bit – maybe thirty minutes or so – about the history of the area, the church and things of that nature. I remember walking into the church and the only thing that really sticks with my memory is how mellow the lighting was inside and how it didn’t seem to jive with the feeling when all the hair stands up on your arms and the back of your neck waiting for something to happen. You just had an eerie feeling the whole time you were there. We looked around the graveyard while my friend was talking to this gentleman, took pictures (nothing turned out really – a couple of pictures seemed foggy or wispy, but we had smokers in our group so we dismissed it), and tried to scare each other. We heard noises in the woods, and there seemed to be movement that was always just out of the corner of your eye. Creepy. We wrapped it up and walked back to the church where we had parked our car. We thanked the gentleman for allowing us this time there, and left.
The next day, my frined decided to call the church and thank the gentleman (caretaker?) and ask if he might come back for another visit. The woman who answered the phone told us that not only was no one there the night before and that no one of that description worked for the church, but that the church was locked and unattended the previous evening. My friend was insistant and the woman got pretty bent out of shape. She apparently thought it was a prank phone call and hung up on my friend. We have no idea who he talked to. Unfortunately, we never got the chance to go back. Twenty years later, I still would like to take a trip back there. I like about 30 minutes from the area. If I get the chance, I’ll be sure to post to let you know what I find, if anything.

I used to cut the grass and the whole cemetary is full of ground bee’s. They freakin chase you and sting the hell outta ya. I also ran from the police one night and drank beer on a grave up there and felt some weird stuff but really more scared of the law than ghosts.

I live in Aquia Harbour, and was baptised at that church. So many people have told me it’s haunted and I believe them. It’s also stupid how people that don’t even live here, say it’s not true, cause they don’t know anything bout it. I have friends who have pictures of ghosts in their house. I’ve been going to that church my whole life, and have been there at night with friends, and have been up in that attick, its not scary, but also pretty interesting.

On December 2, 2006 my friend and I took my daughter, her daughter and 2 other girls to Baltimore MD for a cheering competition. We stayed at the Days Inn (we had stayed there 1 time before and after this trip we have stayed there one other time). This particular night my friend and her daughter had a disagreement; such as teenagers often do with their parents. Anyway, we all laid down around 3 a.m. (3 girls in one bed and Liz and I and one other girl in our bed).
I had not fallen asleep because of all the commotion earlier. This room had the sink and mirror outside the toilet area. After laying there for a little while I glanced that way and I saw a small child combing her hair, it was so vivid! I actually thought it was Caroline and started to call her name out. Caroline did not answer me back, so I told Liz (beside me in the bed) that I thought she was getting sick because I saw her bend down holding her stomach and she seemed to sit on the floor. I didn’t want to wake the other girl up who was next to me (I was in the middle) so I told Liz that I needed to get from under the covers to go help Caroline because she must be sick and just sat on the floor. I got up and walked over to the corner where I thought she had sat and there was nothing there, but the deposit box. I was so startled that I could barely move. I kept saying, am I crazy, why would I call out Caroline’s name twice if I didn’t see her and I actually got up to help her back into the bed. I looked over at the other bed and there lay my daughter, Caroline in the middle, and Liz’s daugher – all asleep. I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS EXPERIENCE. IT WAS DEFINITELY AN APPRITION. UNTIL YOU, YOURSELF HAVE EXPERIENCED SOMETHING YOU CANNOT EXPLAIN OR PROVE one will always be skeptical. I never doubted there were ghosts, but I had never seen or experienced anything that was beyond the living – NOW I HAVE.

Hi. I go to this church almost every sunday, go to all of the events, babysit, and I know quite a lot about it. I agree that the graveyard is spooky, but I haven’t had any paranormal experiences there. My sister and I actually were talking about going there one night and investigating. I know all of the people that would allow us in, so I don’t think it would be a problem. I will post details if there are any.
Also, a lady that is very involved with the church, who would know about these things, I asked about the ghost stories, and she said “Let’s talk about that later”, like there was something to tell.
Thanks!

Oh yeah, I forgot, I’ve been up in the belfry, and it’s not scary. Actually, all over the wall the window is on there are signatures from civil war soldiers.

Just want to say that I’ve lived in the fburg stafford area my whole life; the church is mysterious and beautiful. I’ve fequently visit the church just to experiance the overwhelming feeling of supernatural presences. one instance, two friends and i were visiting and taking pics, while we were there we didnt see anything, but when we got back home and looked at the pics there was a light in the lower left window resembling a floating candle. It was a pretty chilling feeling. I think the aquia church is one of the most thrilling place to visit even by yourself, which ive done several times. This church deserves more credit to its past and it lingering spirits. Visit any chance you get and I propmise everytime you go you will exeriance a deeper understanding for everything natural and paranormal.

You are speaking of the old mills place that backs up to peachtree lane. My grandfather was a farmer in the early 1900’s and used to farm the mills land. Mrs mills was a phlibotomist who took her work a little too far…she killed her husband and bathed in his blood. She never was right after he accidentally killed their son about 6 years prior in a farming accident. You can find more information of
