Real Haunted House

Bell Witch Cave

Adams, Tennessee

Local legends say that the Bell Witch has haunted the area surrounding the caves for hundreds of years. It is said that the witch appears to people in the human form. There are many unexplainable pictures of shadows and other such entities in the cave. Upon entering the cave, it is alleged that one will be overcome by the feeling of being watched. It is further asserted that if one is to take a rock from the cave, they shall be forever be cursed. Many others have also reported voices in restricted areas of the cave that cannot be reached by any human.

I have been to this cave, and the guides told us that story. I went for one
Halloween. The cave was cool;however, I did not believe in the story.
It wasn’t until the guide took our group picture when I became a believer. There were 22 people in our group, but only 21 of those people showed up in the picture.

now uhhh lauren. are you sure there was 22 people in the picture and not 21? count again. if not then that’s really creepy

I have been there twice. The first time it was owned by a family and they would let the last tour go in and explore the cave as they wanted. My friends and I went all over the cave. Nothing happened, or so we thought. Two of us had cameras. We were taking random pics but the general rule we made was that one of us would always be in the shot. There was one pic where only my friend’s arm and hand showed up on a wall, beside her hand was a snake. The snake was not there while taking the pic. The second time we went, the cave had been pretty much closed off to the general public by the new owners. The tour was smaller and you weren’t allowed to go off on your own. One of the ladies in the tour claimed her hair had been pulled twice. I can not say if this was due to a haunting or just someone playing tricks. Afterwards, my daughter and I had our palms read just for fun. Being the sceptic (if i spelled that right) that I am, I suggested we write down what the reader had told us and go one year later to see if any or if happened. 90% came true. Even me getting pregnant, when my tubes are tied. If you go there, it is fun none the least, I can not guarantee you will be scared but you do feel SOMETHING. DO NOT take a rock from there. On my first trip one of the girls took one. Within a week she broke her arm, wrecked her car, and was shot at. She returned the rock and as far as I know, things returned to normal. If you don’t know where it is, just go to Adams Tn (close to Springfield Tn) and ask the locals to give you directions. It seems everyone there knows where it is, you won’t have any trouble finding someone to give you directions.

I was wondering, if the girl Dawn’s story took a rock from the cave, why didn’t she die right out, the way the person from Bob’s story did? Was she lucky, or is the story a fake, as I believe it is? What do you believe?

I once have been to the cave, cemetary, and the bellwitch farm and I must say that is is one of the creepiest feelings I have ever encountered. One of the teachers at my school used to take a cple of ppl to the cave every yr. because he loved it but one time he took my brother and a cple of other boys out there and they went to a certain part in the cave that hardly anyone knows of and they came out with deep scratches and bruises all over their backs. Because of this he has never gone again. Seeing as in how I believe and my friends believe in ghosts and that we live really close to Adams (35 min. drive) we went one time and I must say we had some STRANGE encounters also…

1) The residents of Adams are nice people and are proud of their history, but they do not take lightly to people making a nusnance of themselves in order to have a cheap paranormal thrill. Remember this is a rural area and the residents are often armed and are crack shots!

2) Ever see the sign, “Forget the Dog, Beware of Owner!”, well there should be a sign at the edge of town that reads, “Forget the Redidents that you might tick off, BEWARE OF KATE!” Kate KILLED John Bell, beat members of his family, ruined an engagement of one of the Bell daughters, and scared the Hell out of Andrew Jackson. Jackson went to visit Bell and his carrage was stuck in one place. After having her fun with the soon to be President, she told him that he could go on to the Bell Farm. You can look in his published personal letters to find the entery on 11/02/1816 “…I would rather fight 2,000 British Regulars than face that thing again…” This is coming from a man that fought three duels, was involved in a little incident at the Maxwell House Hotel in Nashville that left three men dead, a hardened Indian fighter and a Genreral during the War of 1812 (Hint: Battle of New Orleans). He knew how to face his fears and knew when to withdraw!

just the thaught of it gives me goose bumps… and my cousin were tellin about all the freaky things that ever happened to us and he said that he had been to the bell whitch’s house but he wusnt sure….he said that there was a HUGE field but there was only one tree in the middle of the field and in front of it was some rocks in the pattern of the sacrifise star……and behind that there was a white house that had a fence around it and the house looke like it dated back about 200 years…….and behind that there was a cave that was boarded up and he was with his cousin when they were trying to open up the cave when they heard high pichted screem so they stopped wut they were doin to go look for the sound but instead they heard a horse galloping but they couldnt see a thing so they ran as fast as they could to get out of the field…………so after he had told me the story we went to look up bell whitch but when we did, every thing that he had described to me was in the pictures of the artical! I was examining the camera and it went off and took a pic of some rocks..when you look at the pic it looks like a mans face and a little girls face, facing each other.. want to go back soon.. I was also three months pregnant at the time, the little girl I had acts like the bell witch..

My dad grew up in Greenbrier TN. and had told me stories of the Bell Witch. His story was more based aroung the Admams of Adams TN. He said this Bell Witch was a slave, and the owner of the slave, Mr. Adams would beat her every night. Well, she became very ill, and while she was on her death bed, she put a hex on the Adams family(kinda funny huh?)Anyways, one night the man of the house heard his child screaming, and when he entered the childs room, he saw the witch spanking his kid. Now keep in mind this lady, witch, slave, or what ever you want to call her was dead. The story goes on the eve of the slaves death, the eldest Adams would die. Sometimes of natural causes, but other un-explained. If you look in the Adams TN. phone book, you will not see one Adams listed in there. They all moved away from Adams TN. This is the story I got from my dad years ago. Anyone else from TN. know anything about this Bell Witch story by chance?

I went to see An American Haunting a few days ago. I liked the movie to a certain extent. Stuff that shouldn’t be in the movie were added and did not make any sense. Every year my family go to a tractor show in Adams that is held around the school building. I feel like I’m being watched when we go. Just thought I’d add that.

My friend went to visit the cave last year. I went over to her house to see some of the pictures she took while she was there and in one of the pictures she’s wear a white night-gown. It looks old and torn and dirty. It was really creepy and she started freaking out about it cuz she was supposed to be wearing a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. I’ld love to visit the cave sometime.

Years ago I went with my dad who was a editor of a newspaper for a story to to Bell Witch area. I was a teenanager then. We acamped out in the area. One lady who lived in the area told how she poured O.J. for her grandson and turned around to put it back in the frig. Her grand son was across the room. She heard a drinking sound and the glass being put down. She turned around. It was empty. She lived across from where the original house had been.
We also, ran into into military people in a car . They told us that the previous night an animal had stayed in their head lights. Therefore, they had burned rubber and left. The next day the retuned because one of the wifes’ had read that the Bell Witch took the shape of animals. That is when we happened to run into them. We all started to look around the area and we found John Bell’s grave. It was hidden in the woods then. Later, my dad and I went to some other monument in the area. We told some decendent,an elderly man, what we found. He told us that grave had been lost for a long time.I have a copy of the book written by the decendent. The movie did not follow the book totally. If you can get a copy of the book you should .

OK, LISTEN UP ANYONE WHO WANTS TO KNOW A LITTLE FACTUAL INFO ABOUT THE BELL WITCH. My whole life i have been very aware of her, my family would speak of how evil she was. Now as of 2 years ago, i found out that she is in my family line and that my great grandmothers grandmother was her cousin and she was EVIL. She haunts the cave, well i shouldn’t say her, because i hope you all know that when you die you don’t comke back. Its just the devil playing tricks on ya. Still, she was very cruel and evil.

If one feels the need to experience the paranormal
ententy in the cave then do this… Don”t go there until the barametric pressure is below 29.5 and the temperature is below 70 F ( typical cavern temp.) Take NO religous items with you in the cave and challange it with WORD ONLY. DO NOT TURN YOUR BACK ON IT. If it appears, witness it, take pictures if you like, then back out slowly.

I am from TN and I have heard about the Bell Witch since I was a child. I have never been to the plantation or the caves, but my grandmother has. She went there to take some pictures in the early nineties. Most of the pictures she took just showed large black orbs taking up most of the pictures. One of the few that developed nicely were the Bell family grave stones. I have never heard the rumor about being cursed if you remove a rock from the cave, but who am I to say it isn’t true? I thought the caves were long since shut down, but I hope they aren’t anymore. Has anybody tried doing any EVP in there? That would be cool.

I have lived in Robertson County all my life and Kate is real. Just being in Adams you get a weird vibe that something is still not right. Sometimes weird things happen and sometimes they don’t. That’s just the way it goes. If you go and make fun of her then most likely something will happen. Ok so I just moved to TN via Florida. I was just poking around the net and came accross this story and am very interested in this. I got a map and directions to Adams and plan on going out there in May when they are supposed to open the cave up to the public. From all of the comments I have read( the intelligent ones!) it seems to be something worthwhile to check out. I have asked some locals (cookeville) about this and all the stories are the same. the only thing that differs is the relationship of “Kate” to the Bells. some stories say she was a slave, a housemaid, or even just a nieghbor that John Bell had poor dealings with. Can anyone clear that one up? also if anyone has any good photos of thier trip to this cave or of the surronding area that would be great. My other question to those that have ventured out there is are you allowed to camp there? My buddy and I want to go and camp for one night if possible. thanks for all the creepy accounts and hopefully I get some emails regarding this so I can better prepare myself for my little adventure. My family and I have been to the bell witch cave. It was very creepy and some weird things happened. I took digital photos and some had unexplainable orbs in them. Especially near the “indian grave”. I also was climbing up on a rock to get a better look at one of the openings in the rocks and felt as though I was pushed off. Good 3-4 ft. fall. I wasn’t hurt but it did shake me up a bit. Then, on into the cave, one can venture up onto a kind of overhang and there is another opening going back into the cave. Up here, my eldest daughter began to get very nauseated. We got her down and moved away from the area and she began to feel better. She also experienced some cold spots and felt as though someone or something touched her. She is sensitive to these things, no fluke. (She scares me sometimes.) Very interesting visit. Can’t wait to go back! Something’s there!

Well to tell the truth, i have been intrigued by the stories of the bell witch since i first read about the Bell family… Which i am related to John bell by the daughter that got beaten and slapped she married my great (times something) grandpa…well the first time i read the story i believed it, but was creeped out by it and started having dreams about the little girl(i didn’t know at the time i was related, i thought i might have been because of a family name i know quite well) so i went on to learn more and more about it, and have had this eerie feeling ever since n i feel so connected to it i did how ever later find out i am related to her… All my life creepy stuff has happend but latly since i first read it all it’s been getting worse.. I just have to go see it ALL.. i Guess i just have to know.. so if any one has info about going to see it graves, house, fields, and cave please e-mail me @

I’m terrified of this story. I love information…I like to know that these things exist and to learn about them, but I’d never consider actually going there. It’s way too scary for me. Two things that are also kinda freaking me out right now…one of these two words for me to post this is ‘deathbed’…also, I just glanced over at my boyfriend and he looks like he’s dead. He never sleeps on his back…ever…because he has asthma and it’s hard for him to breathe on his back, but he is. He’s sprawled out like someone just killed him and he fell down. So now I have to go poke him.

I personally believe in the Bell Witch. A former grade school classmate of mine was somehow related to the Bell family. She made me a believer through her stories. I have read some very interesting stories on here about personal experiences; however, I find it extremely difficult to take most of the sources seriously. Does anyone remember English class? Did anyone learn anything from English class? I will gladly remind all of those people who have forgotten the simple rules of grammar.

Trust me on this one, weather you believe or not don’t risk it. My roommate took a rock from there a couple years back and woke up in the morning to the damn thing staring at her from a full length mirror on one side of her room, she immediately went back under the covers and burried her head until she felt safe enough to look out again. The woman was gone, but comming from that girl who is an extreme skeptic of most things. There may be truth to the whole legend. Not saying one way or another, but it sure as hell seems like it. Why risk it? Btw, yes she does have very bad luck and recently got kicked out of our apartment, even though she threw the rock back into the woods immediately after the sighting two years ago, and never saw the woman again, the curse might still be in effect. Don’t throw away your life for the mere sake of curiousity.

there is actually a movie about the the Bells and the Bell witch. It’s called An American Haunting. The movie has some of the stuff I have heard. Which I’m from that area. But the ending is totally fabricated.
I would tell you about it but I don’t want to ruin it. So if you want more info go rent the movie.

A few years back my mother had to have surgery on her big toe on her right foot. her doctor told her her toe would stay sore for around a year and the infection could get really bad so she took antibiotics but the infection still spread. My dad took her to the Bell Witch Cave on a date. She had to wear open toed shoes because of the swelling. The water of the cave flowed over her feet the time she was there. The next morning she woke up to find that her toes were completely hilled.

The Bell Witch is real. I grew up not too far from Adams, Tn and have heard the story of the Bell Witch for as long as I can remember. It was something fun to tell classmates and the younger kids about. I’ve been to the cave and have a photo of a man that was not there. Me and my girlfriend were at the end of the tour so it is imposible that there was a man behind us to accidentaly take a picture of. It is true thought that if you would like to visit the cave all you have to do is ask the locals. I had to stop and ask someone on the side of the road how to get there. Tennessee back roads can be confussing at times, however they tend to lead you in a circle so you end up right back where you started from. It is well worth a visit to the cave. You get to hear the story and you can purchase books. Also if you get a chance check out the movie “An American Haunting” it follows the story very well. I had people (my shiptmates) I watched it with freaked out by how everything I told them about the story is how it happend in the movie. Its a good story and very much true. I will never deny the existence of the Bell Witch and I would not advise it of you.

I have been to Adams, TN. I was fortunate enough to speak with someone there who told me the location of where the Bell house actually stood. It is on private property though and of course nothing is left of the house itself. The old well hole is still there though, as well as the family cemetry where Mr Bell (the one killed by the “witch”) his wife and slaves are buried. The cemetery is just inside the tree line at the edge of the property. It is very overgrown and is not the easiest to find. It was really cool being at the actual sight where the house stood and where all of the things happened at.

i love all the stories except for a few, if u dont believe then what are u doing on a site like this??? Anyhow i have yet to experience the cave let alone Kate Bates, whom they refer to as the Bell Witch and quite honestly i dont think i want to… there is an old superstition amongst younger people of Robertson County that if u look into a mirror late at night..(perhaps during the witching hours) and repeat over and over again how much you hate the Bell Witch, her face will appear in the glass!!! its said she doesnt like to be mocked and will make a believer out of anyone who denies her exsistance. some say they have seen the face of a very old woman lingering over their shoulder, that her face was wrinkled like and old sheet, and her eyes were like fire!!! how true is it? youll have to see for yourself if u dare…hopefully soon ill gain the courage to venture into the cave(not alone tho lol) for those that may consider going you can reach it from highway 41. just past the Bell school, onto Bell Chapel rd and just follow the signs. after about three tenths of a mile down a gravel rd youll have to make a sharp turn by a tobacco barn and theres a sign in front of a one story brick house that reads “Bell Cave Parking” its open from May 1st-October 31st 10am-6pm seven days a week. i might see ya there!!!!!

I believe it’s true. For all we know from reading doesn’t prove anything. I think that people should go visit the cave on tours and see for themselves. I wouldn’t try to invoke the “witch” either, she or he or whatever it is should be taken seriously.. All things should anyways.

anon says:

September 17, 2008, 10:15 pm

For one, it’s B-E-L-L. Not “Belle”.
I live in Robertson County and have grown up hearing the stories of the Bell Witch. The Bell family still resides here and still owns the property that the old Bell farm was on. Bell descendants now partially own and operate the Austin & Bell Funeral Homes. My grandfather was buried by a Bell. I’ve met members of the family.
As for “American Haunting”…. biggest load of **** I’ve ever seen in my life. Not only is it not consistent with any of the stories that I’ve heard, read or grown up with, it in no way even resembles the legends.

The cave is fun, but could some of you people please, for the love of God, remember that it’s a MOVIE. Made by Hollywood, not Adams, TN. Of course they are going to fill it with a lot of fluff trying to give it some controversy.

Hello I am Zach Leatherman. My mom’s last name is Bell. Weird things always happen around me, like I fall asleep on the floor, and I wake up floating in the air! If that’s not freaky enough for you listen to this: two years ago on Halloween night I heard a ring at the doorbell. Now that was O.K. because I was seven years old and I was just going out the door. When I reached the door a box flew at me and landed at my feet, and when I answered the door nobody was there. Freaky, right!?

The stories are mostly true, use your judgment and common sense to decide which ones are not. My husband’s parents went there a few years ago, and had several weird experiences. As far as I know, they didn’t take anything but their car did die in the road on the way home. Also, when they got back home a chandelier crashed on the table they were sitting at. Of course, these events are not explicitly supernatural, but of course it was a little scary

Kristina says:

I’ve lived in Nashville, TN all my life, a few years ago my parents, and my boyfriend at the time went up to the bell witch cave for the tour they do. Yes, you have to pay to get in, and yes parts of the cave they dont “tour” anymore. We walked in with the guide, walked around, and nothing happened. The cave is also gated up and only the guides let you in. My dad wants to see something of the paranormal, yelled at the back of the cave, nothing happened. I believe that their may be a spirit of this woman or whatever, but I dont believe half the **** that was said on here, mainly b/c most the people who have posted just want to talk a bunch of ****. Everyone who has had stories, thats awesome, I believe some of them. I would like to go back again one day just to see if anything has changed. If anyone has serious, REAL pictures that were taken, I would love to see them. And if anyone wants to seriously talk about this, who has real stories, that would be amazing. ~*Kristina*~

I have never been to the Bell Witch cave, but I grew up in Tn. and I knew of the Bell witch! Me and my friends used to go in the bathroom, and look in the mirror, and say her name 3 times while turning the lights off and on, and you were supposed to see the witch in the mirror! We would scream, and run out of the bathroom thinking that we saw something!I will tell you something really scary that happened to me after renting An American haunting. I got haunted after seeing that movie! I was in bed reading a book and my eyes were getting real heavy, i mean sleepy heavy until I fell asleep. Soon after the most horrible presence was at my face, but i could not see it and i could not move!It would pull the covers from my face!!I woke up terrified but then i would fall asleep again and it would happen all over again! I was moaning for help and my husband woke me up! The creepy thing is he felt a bad presence but he also said that the hairs on my arms were standing straight up!The next day I annointed the room with oil and told it to go in Jesus name and that it had no authority here!It left and never came back. I have had other scary experiences especially, when i slept in my antique haunted bed! People in my family will not believe that my bed is haunted. I think they need to sleep in that bed to know what I am talking about! I want to sell the haunted bed so bad, but everyone in my family would be offended because it was my grandmothers! Should I sell it or not?

I went to the cave for the first time around halloween with my cuz and some friends. I found it to be very boring in the cave. I took a digital camera with me hoping for something to happen. Well nothing happened in the cave. We left that night and we said we would never go back. Well I got home that night and put all my pictures on my computer. That is when I started freaking out. I have allways been a beliver in spirits and the paranormal. But I had never experienced any thing. Ok, back to the pictures. I started looking threw the pics and i noticed a that almost all the pics taken inside the cave were blury. There is one picture of my cuz walking threw the first passageway of the cave and the only clear spot of the pic is of an old woman in a dress with a white bonnet on her head. She is wearing high heel boots. This woman was not in the cave with us. There are two other pics i have that were taken in the first room of the cave. I was just taking a picture of a hole in the ceiling. Well I snapped two shots and in both pictures a small orange diamond showed up. When you zoom in on the diamond in both pics. It is a fully detaild face. So much detail that you can see the black hair coming down near the mans eye. You can see the white in his eye. His nose is there, his chin and you can even see his teeth. I am going to email those pics I have to the Bell witch cave website. At this point in time I am ready to go back to see what else I can capture there.

I was in the front seat passenger side, turned around talking and laughing with the others. We turned left onto a side road from the main road and were almost home when my door flew open. This is the only legend I actually believe – I have never been there, but my friend has. Nothing happened to her, but she said it scared her to death (she’s a very Christian-oriented girl that isn’t a fan of the paranormal). My friend Ray brought it up in my Biology class and was talking to everyone very loudly about it. She said that when she went there, she had the worst feeling ever. My other friend started laughing because he’s a sarcastic skeptic like myself. I honestly think this is true because.. of all the proof. And it’s just like I know it’s real. I don’t really need an explanation for it. However.. who the heck takes rocks from a cave to begin with?! That is one of the most idiotic things to bring back as a souvenier I can think of. You won’t catch me doing that ANYWHERE, haunted or not. xD

A few months ago I made the very terrible mistake of taking a rock from that cave. I wish I would have had a little more sense when I did that. I feel very bad for taking it and it wasn’t a very wise choice. Since I took it members of my family’s health have declined very, very badly. My 4 year old brother was diagnosed with the Swine Flu and strept throat yesterday. He’s also got a very bad previously existing asthma problem. I fear that the combination of these health issues could turn deadly. Also, my oldest brother of 12 is currently in the hospital for a possible stroke or heart attack. I am very, very scared. I do love them both very much. I found out a week ago that my boyfriend is moving out… and to another state. I am a huge animal lover and my hermit crabs have been dying left and right. I also believe that I may be pregnant which is really not very good news right now. This isn’t even the beginning of my issues. I’m definately returning the rock that I took from there very, very soon.

I live in Robertson Co. were this story and its history takes place. I go kayaking with friends down Red River and we stop by the cave all the time.
Seeing as I live locally near , like everyone here, we all know this story.
If your going to expect something to happen, 9 out 10 it wont. Its just a normal cave, dark, damp and cold. But something is going on there. President Andrew Jackson visited the Bell family while the witch was haunting the family and he said he’d rather face the entire British army than go back again

I took a rock from the cave years ago, just to see what might happen. And yes, I still have it, sitting on my desk as I type this. Nothing of a “cursed” nature has ever happened to me since I brought it home. Back when I was at the cave, I verbally challenged the witch to make her presence known to us. The others on the tour thought I was crazy. Nothing happened. I plan to go back in July while on my vacation, just to see if I can witness anything paranormal there.

I also am from the Adams area. I am a very big “skeerdie kat” but decided, on Halloween, MANY years ago, to go to the cave, AND on the hayride, which goes on each year. Kate Batts, aka Bell Witch, they take u to her grave, which is supposedly in the woods on the edge of property. A person in my group also took something from the cave. ALAS, we go to leave, his car wont start. He is/was a mechanic, car is pristine condition. Possibly bad timing, but asked to take rock back, and car then started. Firm believer here.

the closest to the true story is the story from John Bell Sr’s son, John Bell Jr. He wrote a book detailing what he witnessed and experienced. hmph… i have been to the bell witch cave nd it doesnt seem scary at all.. i was in the back of the line exiting the cave nd was hit in the head with something.. not hard but hard enough to feel it… we also felt a breeze coming from the opposite end of the entry so tht is unexplained… but whoever wrote this story did not tell the full story.. the bell witch actually saved a kid long ago.. there is a movie on it.. look it up nd watch it if you want to know more about this story..

Considering this legend has been around for awhile, I think it is a must see for.. believers.. which I am. I believe there are things that we are not sure about in this world.. A lot of words to describe these pheonomenons.. I am actually going to see the cave.. on spring break.. I’m excited for this trip

Okay, i used to live in Adams for 5 years! Im 13 and i went to the bell witch cave in August. My mom took my boyfriend and I. So, before we went in, the tour guide told us the story about the bell witch and bell witch cave. We got in, and I had a VERY eerie feeling, so I looked over and I could swear I saw a white rabbit. But, I turned and looked again, it wasnt there. This cave is not a playground, so if you go, i reccomend do not play around with things for your safety. I heard a story about these teenagers, they hid from their group and stayed over night, ended up so they ended up staying in the cave. One boy, had to use the bathroom, so he went. When his girlfriend went looking for him, (he was gone a while) she found him stuffed in a hole, dead. My mom also had an experience. She and her friend went when they were teenagers, and her friend took a rock. They got to the end of the driveway where you come in, and their car broke down. My mom’s friend ran back and told the tour guide she needed to put the rock in the cave. When she came back, my mom tried starting the car. It started. Like a week before i went, my mom, 2 couisins, my friend, my sister, and I went to the cemetery and Old school house near the cave. Now, when we went to the cemetery, my mom was taking pictures. I was in front of the tall grave stone of the Bell family and in the picture, something strange appeared. And i was looking around while everyone was in the car, and wasps started to chase me all the way to the car. That very same thing happened to my grandma. At the Old School house, we heard laughing upstairs in the middle room where the records are. My grandfather heard the same thing when i was 5. I mean, if your looking for terrifying stuff, go to the Cemetery, Old School house, and the Cave! Ive never been to the farm though 😛 I wanna go! If you have any questions, email me at Thanks.

Ive lived in adams my whole life and you grow up hearing the stories. I do believe she is real but the movie they made for it. Some of its true and some of it wasnt. American haunting was terrible. But we have a local historian who wrote a book about it all about three years ago.

I enjoyed all the stories I’ve read here today but I noticed no one mentioned the Bolivar, Tn area which has many haunted locations like, the Lucy Black House or Magnolia Manor and Shilo Park. These places have given many reasons to be noticed.

The Lucy Black House has a long horried history that follows it long before Lucy Black even owned it and the place I understand has changed hands many times through the years. Lucy Black was a school teacher and she turned this home into a school and she was later accussed of killing a child or two there. I know there was small coffins built into the attic walls there for I have seen them first hand and it was chilling to the bone.

A coworker of mine claims to be a direct descendant of the Bell family, and when she mentioned this I rattled off the tale of the Bell witch and the haunting of the Bell family. She listened, wide-eyed, and said “Maybe that’s why my family has so much trouble”.

Heard whispering in the cave as tour guide was speaking & what sounded like breathing in & out. Was held up over an hour on halloween tour, because “kate” was practicing how to give a tour & the other tour guides thought another group was in the cave.

So two years ago I was in Orlinda Tennessee staying a week with my mil at her boyfriend’s land … It was the most beautiful place you could imagine but what I encountered , after doing some research, I know was the bell witch. I couldn’t be anymore freaked out. Here’s my story to begin the land had this eiry unexplainable feeling that I couldn’t begin to describe if I wanted . We spent days Arrowhead hunting with much luck and at night we stayed at the house. My mil and myself are smokers so we would go outside all throughout the night and smoke. The second night we were there we went out and sat on the steps and we were chit chatting when all of a sudden I heard music. So I listened closer thinking maybe it was her boyfriend’s family bc behind his house was two tobacco barns ( not thinking the were cram packed) so I thought I had lost my mind and asked her if she heard it and she never answered me but it was like a piano , I heard a man talk in a joking way and the woman would laugh and sing the most beautiful song you have ever heard. I seriously thought to myself , you have lost it now. The nights following i would walk out and it would start off quiet until she started singing . By the fourth night I was most definitely a believer and scared to death, so this night I had my husband come with. He heard it and was as scared as me but I made him walk out in the field all the way around those barns and he found nothing although the music never stopped. By night 5 I hadn’t slept much and wanted to go home . I had fallen asleep in a recliner in the living room when I heard my name whispered in the most melancholy creepy voice you could imagine. I started awake and in front of my face was a little girl pale as pale can be with long hair and a long white dress and that fast she was gone. To this day I cannot begin to explain this at all, so I decided to look up Orlinda Tn history and low and behold I found the Bell Witch. From other decriptions I’ve read I believe without a doubt it was her! Months later I asked my mil if she heard it and FINALLY SHE REPLIED, EVERY NIGHT and I thought I was going crazy too. I was made a believer and will never step foot back on that place!
