Bell Witch Cave
Local legends say that the Bell Witch has haunted the area surrounding the caves for hundreds of years. It is said that the witch appears to people in the human form. There are many unexplainable pictures of shadows and other such entities in the cave. Upon entering the cave, it is alleged that one will be overcome by the feeling of being watched. It is further asserted that if one is to take a rock from the cave, they shall be forever be cursed. Many others have also reported voices in restricted areas of the cave that cannot be reached by any human.

I want to go see the Bell Witch Cave. Does anyone really know anything about people taking rocks from the cave and weird things happening? I just moved to KY, pretty close to Adams, TN and I didn’t realize how close I lived to the Bell Witch Cave. I’ve seen the movie “American Haunting” and I think it would be cool to go to the cave.

Ok so I just moved to TN via Florida. I was just poking around the net and came accross this story and am very interested in this. I got a map and directions to Adams and plan on going out there in May when they are supposed to open the cave up to the public. From all of the comments I have read( the intelligent ones!) it seems to be something worthwhile to check out. I have asked some locals (cookeville) about this and all the stories are the same. the only thing that differs is the relationship of “Kate” to the Bells. some stories say she was a slave, a housemaid, or even just a nieghbor that John Bell had poor dealings with. Can anyone clear that one up? also if anyone has any good photos of thier trip to this cave or of the surronding area that would be great. My other question to those that have ventured out there is are you allowed to camp there? My buddy and I want to go and camp for one night if possible. thanks for all the creepy accounts and hopefully I get some emails regarding this so I can better prepare myself for my little adventure. My family and I have been to the bell witch cave. It was very creepy and some weird things happened. I took digital photos and some had unexplainable orbs in them. Especially near the “indian grave”. I also was climbing up on a rock to get a better look at one of the openings in the rocks and felt as though I was pushed off. Good 3-4 ft. fall. I wasn’t hurt but it did shake me up a bit. Then, on into the cave, one can venture up onto a kind of overhang and there is another opening going back into the cave. Up here, my eldest daughter began to get very nauseated. We got her down and moved away from the area and she began to feel better. She also experienced some cold spots and felt as though someone or something touched her. She is sensitive to these things, no fluke. (She scares me sometimes.) Very interesting visit. Can’t wait to go back! Something’s there!

Well to tell the truth, i have been intrigued by the stories of the bell witch since i first read about the Bell family… Which i am related to John bell by the daughter that got beaten and slapped she married my great (times something) grandpa…well the first time i read the story i believed it, but was creeped out by it and started having dreams about the little girl(i didn’t know at the time i was related, i thought i might have been because of a family name i know quite well) so i went on to learn more and more about it, and have had this eerie feeling ever since n i feel so connected to it i did how ever later find out i am related to her… All my life creepy stuff has happend but latly since i first read it all it’s been getting worse.. I just have to go see it ALL.. i Guess i just have to know.. so if any one has info about going to see it graves, house, fields, and cave please e-mail me @ Peachb16@yahoo.com

I went to the bell witch cave at the beginning of July, My sister’s camera stopped working as soon as she went in the cave. Her friend took a bunch of pictures and one of the pictures looks like a ghoul. It is a skeleton face with long hair and looks like it is wearing a white robe.

I’m terrified of this story. I love information…I like to know that these things exist and to learn about them, but I’d never consider actually going there. It’s way too scary for me. Two things that are also kinda freaking me out right now…one of these two words for me to post this is ‘deathbed’…also, I just glanced over at my boyfriend and he looks like he’s dead. He never sleeps on his back…ever…because he has asthma and it’s hard for him to breathe on his back, but he is. He’s sprawled out like someone just killed him and he fell down. So now I have to go poke him.

i’ve lived in TN all my life. The Bell wicth is taught in most schools here. You don’t have to travel to see the Bell witch, only thing you have to do is piss her off.Go into your bathroom alone with the lights off, facen your back against the mirror, say hateful things about the witch, and then say come to me Bell witch the weak!3 times in a row then turn to face the mirror. If it doesnt work the first time keep trying like the next night. But im warning you now she might not leave once she gets there.O ya you might need to but some alcohol on those scracthes youll be recieving.

I heard a story recently that a man took a rock from the cave. The next day his wife left him(unknown if there were lingering marital issues), his job fired him and his landlord evicted him, all within a week of taking the rock. He immediately returned the rock and no one has heard from him since.

I personally believe in the Bell Witch. A former grade school classmate of mine was somehow related to the Bell family. She made me a believer through her stories. I have read some very interesting stories on here about personal experiences; however, I find it extremely difficult to take most of the sources seriously. Does anyone remember English class? Did anyone learn anything from English class? I will gladly remind all of those people who have forgotten the simple rules of grammar.
1. Use correct punctuation.
2. Spell the words out.
3. Do not misspell words.

Trust me on this one, weather you believe or not don’t risk it. My roommate took a rock from there a couple years back and woke up in the morning to the damn thing staring at her from a full length mirror on one side of her room, she immediately went back under the covers and burried her head until she felt safe enough to look out again. The woman was gone, but comming from that girl who is an extreme skeptic of most things. There may be truth to the whole legend. Not saying one way or another, but it sure as hell seems like it. Why risk it? Btw, yes she does have very bad luck and recently got kicked out of our apartment, even though she threw the rock back into the woods immediately after the sighting two years ago, and never saw the woman again, the curse might still be in effect. Don’t throw away your life for the mere sake of curiousity.

there is actually a movie about the the Bells and the Bell witch. It’s called An American Haunting. The movie has some of the stuff I have heard. Which I’m from that area. But the ending is totally fabricated.
I would tell you about it but I don’t want to ruin it. So if you want more info go rent the movie.
