Real Haunted House

Bell Witch Cave

Adams, Tennessee

Local legends say that the Bell Witch has haunted the area surrounding the caves for hundreds of years. It is said that the witch appears to people in the human form. There are many unexplainable pictures of shadows and other such entities in the cave. Upon entering the cave, it is alleged that one will be overcome by the feeling of being watched. It is further asserted that if one is to take a rock from the cave, they shall be forever be cursed. Many others have also reported voices in restricted areas of the cave that cannot be reached by any human.

I have been to Adams, TN. I was fortunate enough to speak with someone there who told me the location of where the Bell house actually stood. It is on private property though and of course nothing is left of the house itself. The old well hole is still there though, as well as the family cemetry where Mr Bell (the one killed by the “witch”) his wife and slaves are buried. The cemetery is just inside the tree line at the edge of the property. It is very overgrown and is not the easiest to find. It was really cool being at the actual sight where the house stood and where all of the things happened at.

I have also been to Bell Which Cave and I hated it!!!
I went with my Mom because my Grandpa hates ghostly things. Anyway we were with the Tour Guide and everyone took a picture we all got one and when I looked at the picture THERE WAS ONLY 18 PEOPLE!! We (or I) could of sworn there were 19 people with us.

I have had a visit into these Haunted establishments, my friends and I are Ghost Breakers, well for those who don’t know what we r well u have heard of trust breakers and home breakers well I’m a Ghost Breaker, we take skellitons out of closets and dust them off, we explain misterys normal people don’t want 2 explain. Anyway we check out haunted houses, and this is the only house(so far) that has scared me personally. There is a presance there I can’t explain, even though the witch herself has been dead fo hundreds of years, she can still talk, and hold conversations with the liveing.

i love all the stories except for a few, if u dont believe then what are u doing on a site like this??? Anyhow i have yet to experience the cave let alone Kate Bates, whom they refer to as the Bell Witch and quite honestly i dont think i want to… there is an old superstition amongst younger people of Robertson County that if u look into a mirror late at night..(perhaps during the witching hours) and repeat over and over again how much you hate the Bell Witch, her face will appear in the glass!!! its said she doesnt like to be mocked and will make a believer out of anyone who denies her exsistance. some say they have seen the face of a very old woman lingering over their shoulder, that her face was wrinkled like and old sheet, and her eyes were like fire!!! how true is it? youll have to see for yourself if u dare…hopefully soon ill gain the courage to venture into the cave(not alone tho lol) for those that may consider going you can reach it from highway 41. just past the Bell school, onto Bell Chapel rd and just follow the signs. after about three tenths of a mile down a gravel rd youll have to make a sharp turn by a tobacco barn and theres a sign in front of a one story brick house that reads “Bell Cave Parking” its open from May 1st-October 31st 10am-6pm seven days a week. i might see ya there!!!!!

I believe it’s true. For all we know from reading doesn’t prove anything. I think that people should go visit the cave on tours and see for themselves. I wouldn’t try to invoke the “witch” either, she or he or whatever it is should be taken seriously.. All things should anyways.

For one, it’s B-E-L-L. Not “Belle”.
I live in Robertson County and have grown up hearing the stories of the Bell Witch. The Bell family still resides here and still owns the property that the old Bell farm was on. Bell descendants now partially own and operate the Austin & Bell Funeral Homes. My grandfather was buried by a Bell. I’ve met members of the family.
As for “American Haunting”…. biggest load of **** I’ve ever seen in my life. Not only is it not consistent with any of the stories that I’ve heard, read or grown up with, it in no way even resembles the legends.

The cave is fun, but could some of you people please, for the love of God, remember that it’s a MOVIE. Made by Hollywood, not Adams, TN. Of course they are going to fill it with a lot of fluff trying to give it some controversy.

Hello I am Zach Leatherman. My mom’s last name is Bell. Weird things always happen around me, like I fall asleep on the floor, and I wake up floating in the air! If that’s not freaky enough for you listen to this: two years ago on Halloween night I heard a ring at the doorbell. Now that was O.K. because I was seven years old and I was just going out the door. When I reached the door a box flew at me and landed at my feet, and when I answered the door nobody was there. Freaky, right!?

The stories are mostly true, use your judgment and common sense to decide which ones are not. My husband’s parents went there a few years ago, and had several weird experiences. As far as I know, they didn’t take anything but their car did die in the road on the way home. Also, when they got back home a chandelier crashed on the table they were sitting at. Of course, these events are not explicitly supernatural, but of course it was a little scary

I’ve lived in Nashville, TN all my life, a few years ago my parents, and my boyfriend at the time went up to the bell witch cave for the tour they do. Yes, you have to pay to get in, and yes parts of the cave they dont “tour” anymore. We walked in with the guide, walked around, and nothing happened. The cave is also gated up and only the guides let you in. My dad wants to see something of the paranormal, yelled at the back of the cave, nothing happened. I believe that their may be a spirit of this woman or whatever, but I dont believe half the **** that was said on here, mainly b/c most the people who have posted just want to talk a bunch of ****. Everyone who has had stories, thats awesome, I believe some of them. I would like to go back again one day just to see if anything has changed. If anyone has serious, REAL pictures that were taken, I would love to see them. And if anyone wants to seriously talk about this, who has real stories, that would be amazing. ~*Kristina*~

I have never been to the Bell Witch cave, but I grew up in Tn. and I knew of the Bell witch! Me and my friends used to go in the bathroom, and look in the mirror, and say her name 3 times while turning the lights off and on, and you were supposed to see the witch in the mirror! We would scream, and run out of the bathroom thinking that we saw something!I will tell you something really scary that happened to me after renting An American haunting. I got haunted after seeing that movie! I was in bed reading a book and my eyes were getting real heavy, i mean sleepy heavy until I fell asleep. Soon after the most horrible presence was at my face, but i could not see it and i could not move!It would pull the covers from my face!!I woke up terrified but then i would fall asleep again and it would happen all over again! I was moaning for help and my husband woke me up! The creepy thing is he felt a bad presence but he also said that the hairs on my arms were standing straight up!The next day I annointed the room with oil and told it to go in Jesus name and that it had no authority here!It left and never came back. I have had other scary experiences especially, when i slept in my antique haunted bed! People in my family will not believe that my bed is haunted. I think they need to sleep in that bed to know what I am talking about! I want to sell the haunted bed so bad, but everyone in my family would be offended because it was my grandmothers! Should I sell it or not?

I went to the cave for the first time around halloween with my cuz and some friends. I found it to be very boring in the cave. I took a digital camera with me hoping for something to happen. Well nothing happened in the cave. We left that night and we said we would never go back. Well I got home that night and put all my pictures on my computer. That is when I started freaking out. I have allways been a beliver in spirits and the paranormal. But I had never experienced any thing. Ok, back to the pictures. I started looking threw the pics and i noticed a that almost all the pics taken inside the cave were blury. There is one picture of my cuz walking threw the first passageway of the cave and the only clear spot of the pic is of an old woman in a dress with a white bonnet on her head. She is wearing high heel boots. This woman was not in the cave with us. There are two other pics i have that were taken in the first room of the cave. I was just taking a picture of a hole in the ceiling. Well I snapped two shots and in both pictures a small orange diamond showed up. When you zoom in on the diamond in both pics. It is a fully detaild face. So much detail that you can see the black hair coming down near the mans eye. You can see the white in his eye. His nose is there, his chin and you can even see his teeth. I am going to email those pics I have to the Bell witch cave website. At this point in time I am ready to go back to see what else I can capture there.

Back in the 60’s my sister, two guys, and I went to the cave and cemetary. There were no tours then. It was at night and we had quite a way to drive back home. I was in the front seat passenger side, turned around talking and laughing with the others. We turned left onto a side road from the main road and were almost home when my door flew open. Luckily I was wearing my seatbelt. We all had an erie feeling about that episode and wondered if it had anything to do with our trip to visit the Bell Witch Cave.
