Bell Witch Cave
Local legends say that the Bell Witch has haunted the area surrounding the caves for hundreds of years. It is said that the witch appears to people in the human form. There are many unexplainable pictures of shadows and other such entities in the cave. Upon entering the cave, it is alleged that one will be overcome by the feeling of being watched. It is further asserted that if one is to take a rock from the cave, they shall be forever be cursed. Many others have also reported voices in restricted areas of the cave that cannot be reached by any human.

the location of The Bell Witch cave is off of HWY. 41 North in Adams, TN. Address: 430 Keysburg RD. Phone number to make appointments to tour the cave and log cabin is (615)696-3055. The website to where you can learn more is http://www.bellwitchcave.com/cave.htm . This is a very true story. And if you go please DO NOT take anything from the cave. Not even a rock or she will torment you til you take it back. That is a comfirmed story. For i would not lie. Hope you enjoy your trip to The Bell Witch Cave.

Well I live just outside adams and growing up I’ve always heard the legends of the bell witch..My brother who is 3 years older than me used to try and scare me with stories of the witch.. One night when I was 16 me and my brothers were drinking and decided to sneek on to the property and test the witch.. we cused the bell witch, screamed at her to do somthing real, and sayed over and over “your not real” nothing happened and just as we were leaving there came a strong gust of wind and I swear on my kids in that gust I heard the words “leave my land” i took off running my brothers must have heard it to because they took off behind me..

This is the only legend I actually believe – I have never been there, but my friend has. Nothing happened to her, but she said it scared her to death (she’s a very Christian-oriented girl that isn’t a fan of the paranormal). My friend Ray brought it up in my Biology class and was talking to everyone very loudly about it. She said that when she went there, she had the worst feeling ever. My other friend started laughing because he’s a sarcastic skeptic like myself. I honestly think this is true because.. of all the proof. And it’s just like I know it’s real. I don’t really need an explanation for it. However.. who the heck takes rocks from a cave to begin with?! That is one of the most idiotic things to bring back as a souvenier I can think of. You won’t catch me doing that ANYWHERE, haunted or not. xD

A few months ago I made the very terrible mistake of taking a rock from that cave. I wish I would have had a little more sense when I did that. I feel very bad for taking it and it wasn’t a very wise choice. Since I took it members of my family’s health have declined very, very badly. My 4 year old brother was diagnosed with the Swine Flu and strept throat yesterday. He’s also got a very bad previously existing asthma problem. I fear that the combination of these health issues could turn deadly. Also, my oldest brother of 12 is currently in the hospital for a possible stroke or heart attack. I am very, very scared. I do love them both very much. I found out a week ago that my boyfriend is moving out… and to another state. I am a huge animal lover and my hermit crabs have been dying left and right. I also believe that I may be pregnant which is really not very good news right now. This isn’t even the beginning of my issues. I’m definately returning the rock that I took from there very, very soon.

I live in Robertson Co. were this story and its history takes place. I go kayaking with friends down Red River and we stop by the cave all the time.
Seeing as I live locally near , like everyone here, we all know this story.
If your going to expect something to happen, 9 out 10 it wont. Its just a normal cave, dark, damp and cold. But something is going on there. President Andrew Jackson visited the Bell family while the witch was haunting the family and he said he’d rather face the entire British army than go back again

I was there in the spring of 2007 and in the back part of the cave there is an evil looking thing. so the lady that gave the toure took my pic with me sitting in front of this thing and when i got the film developed there is a pair of glasses in my shirt pocket that are not mine.

I took a rock from the cave years ago, just to see what might happen. And yes, I still have it, sitting on my desk as I type this. Nothing of a “cursed” nature has ever happened to me since I brought it home. Back when I was at the cave, I verbally challenged the witch to make her presence known to us. The others on the tour thought I was crazy. Nothing happened. I plan to go back in July while on my vacation, just to see if I can witness anything paranormal there.

I also am from the Adams area. I am a very big “skeerdie kat” but decided, on Halloween, MANY years ago, to go to the cave, AND on the hayride, which goes on each year. Kate Batts, aka Bell Witch, they take u to her grave, which is supposedly in the woods on the edge of property. A person in my group also took something from the cave. ALAS, we go to leave, his car wont start. He is/was a mechanic, car is pristine condition. Possibly bad timing, but asked to take rock back, and car then started. Firm believer here.

This morning i woke up very anxious to what i might experience in the bell witch cave, i was excited at first but then when i got there i was even more excited but i have come to my senses that maybe everyone tells different tales of the story and try to make money off of it. Me myself and i really believe in the bell witch story but i would like to find out which side of the story is true im tired of hearing different tales

to felicia:
the closest to the true story is the story from John Bell Sr’s son, John Bell Jr. He wrote a book detailing what he witnessed and experienced. The last place I saw a copy of it was at the old Bell High School Museum right there before the cave. Here is a link of where you can buy it the cheapest online: http://www.amazon.com/Mysterious-Spirit-Bell-Witch-Tennessee/dp/0918450063
