Real Haunted House

Bobby Mackey’s Music World

Wilder, Kentucky
By Lisa

Built in the 1850s, this building originally served as a slaughterhouse and meatpacking operation. The only thing remaining from the original building is a well that was dug up in the basement where blood and refuse from animals was drained.

According to lore, the basement, where the well is located, became a ritual site for occultists.  It later became a casino from the 1930s to the 1950s. After several other openings and closings, Bobby Mackey’s Music World opened in 1978 as a music club.

Today the club is haunted with spirits spanning from all the decades, most notably as it was an occultist ritual site.  Two men were hung and claimed that they would haunt the establishment.  Violent encounters from spirits have been noted as well as disembodied voices and laughter.  Some people believe that the area where the well is located is an entrance to hell.
