Decapitated by a passing…TRAIN? Wouldn’t that kind of…take more than his head? How do you lose your head to a train without losing anything else? Just wondering…

I live close to this light. So one night i went with my father,my two sisters, his girl friend, and her daughter. we didn’t see anything at first, but then it came toward us, a shining light. sometimes hazy, then bright, every one in the car screamed, except for me, i watced intentley, i wanted to learn. Then we went a second time, with one of dad’s other girl friends and her daughter. we did’nt see anything at first, for maybe 30 minutes to an Hour. Then as we were leaving, the light came from the oppposite direction than it normally did! my father got out of the car…i was extremeley frightened. as soon as he saw it we sped off and left. Oh, here is an answer for Julia….(more elaboration on the story) there used to be a train in that thicket, and the train got stuck one day, so the man got out to help them, he stuck his head underneath the wheel to fix the problem, by the time he stuck his head under, SLICE!, it was too late. the train had already started moving, and the rest, is history…

Nah ! its totaly for real ! I live 30 minutes from Brags road ,in Liberty TX. ive been there plenty of times. The town called Kountz TX.So the way we do it is first drive about a mile or so down the dirt road until you cant see the hwy behind you anymore, its always best to go late at night lets say around midnight, turn your headlights off your radio off and just be quiet and wait, if nothing happens creep a little ways more down the road and chill but dont turn your lights on. Ive been there numerous times with my friend because its such a rush. Most of my experiences have been that the light will seem to chase you or follow close behind and in an instant it will shoot straight for the truck , never close enough to do any harm, or it will disappear and come back, off and on. You just have to be patient with it . Yeah these are just words but the experience …….truly breathtaking and definently an adrenalin pumper. I remember every one of my encounters vividly . I highly recommend a visit to Brags road to anyone, and if anyone wants to know how to get there or even wants someone w/ experience to show them Im always more than happy to scare the hell outta someone ! eyes_2_theblind@yahoo.com

Hey man,
Me and my friend drove down to Bragg road and got there about 2:45 in the morning and we were all spooked and ready and had the video camera ready and stuff and Mike, well, he was all scared right? And me well, I was my normal ol’ ghost fighting steady and always ready self you know and anyways Mike was all freaked out and stuff and we drove down that ol’ road and it was spooky and everything but we didn’t see anything man. It was a bummer, it was all spooky and the road was muddy and slippery and I was nervous because I didn’t want to break down on no “ghost road” right? But mostly I was worried that if we had broke down that maybe some freaked out local deliverance type local yahoos woood try and butt rap us or something like that! Mike would probably give up the booty but not me man! Anyways, you just have to get to Highway 787 and 770 and turn onto 787 right outside Saratoga and in like 5 minutes you’ll come to a road and sign that reads “Ghost Road Scenic route” or some stuff like that and take a left onto it but make sure you bring someone alot braver than my friend Mike cuz him wining the whole time made me sick! Also, he was all worried about the wildman of the big thicket and stuff and bigfoot and ghosts and leprechauns, etc….. Just a real weiny!
Later,
Peace out

The Bragg light is a true occurrance. I have seen it but the story I heard is that a railroad conductor’s family was killed. When he found out he committed suicide but his ghost is still looking for his family’s killer. The light is red and white; sometimes faint a lot of times it’s bright; it came right up to the back of our car and we were scared to death.
There is also some electromagnetic thing going on with the road because it is a flat road yet we could feel our car coasting forward and backward at different times even thought the engine was off and the car was in park. Most everybody in Kountze knows how to get to the Bragg light.

I’ve also been there, and that’s no swampgass OR fireflys. If you haven’t seen it then how the heck do u know? It’s actually pretty scary.

Silly, how silly! We have been there several times and never seen anything but a bunch of cars and drunks acting like idiots! Why doesn’t someone talk to the people that actually live on that road? I am sure there would be a lot of info from these good folks!

I grew up on braggs road. It is a really weird light that pops out while your in your car. You can see it……you start driving down this road, and there are all kinds or trees coving the road *REALLY TRIPPY*, go late at night when it’s dark, you should see the light, turn your head lights off tho…and bring a few flashlights cuz usually there is mud on “ghost road”. There have also been claims that there is a cult living out there…now I don’t know of anyhting about this, Personally, but if you search “Saratoga, Tx. - Bragg Road” You will see all kinds of people saying how they’ve been down there and seen weird people, tents, I’ve even heard of “pot farmers”, and strange U-hauls being parked off the roads down there, hrmmm ???Also, you should be able to find directions usuing that same search, And other stuff… Braggs road is the perfect place to go burn one and have a good time….bring cameras too! :) Dont get stuck! this is totally for real..and NO ONE has been able to explain this phenomina….

The Saratoga-Bragg Light is located approx 7 miles northwest of Honey Island Texas on FM 1293. That is the Bragg end of the road. Turn left on Bragg Road, which is a narrow dirt road. Bragg Road is very straight and level, as it was built on the bed of railroad spur. The surrounding lands belong to timber companies, so the piney woods near the road have been cut several times. Oaks and hickory trees line the road, leaving an overhead canopy of limbs that make the nights extra dark.
I have seen the Bragg Light several times, and it is always a rush. The best way is to go on moonless nights (any night will do, but less light makes it easier to see). Park and keep quiet and stay watchful. Usually the light starts as a small blob, like a car far away, and grows to the point you can see it casting shadows in the trees by the road. I have seen it blink out suddenly, or fade away and reappear further along the road.
The road has been a special attraction for dating couples for years, cant’ imagine why! A photo of the light can be found in the October 1974 National Geographic page 528.
A family friend died on Halloween Night on the road around 1978 or ‘79. He, his wife, and a small dog went down Bragg Road for kicks and ended up getting stuck in the mud. He had an injured leg, so she left him and the pup and walked out to the highway to get help. It was a chilly night, so he left the car running. Bad idea. He and the dog both died from carbon monoxide poisoning. RIP buddy.

Ok, my name is andrew and i’m 17 and a resident of silsbee texas, 15 minutes from saratoga…i have been to bragg light 2 times and the first time never saw anything, so i figured it was bogus…the second time we went right before our graduation with a group of 11 and we saw the light as soon as we pulled onto the road and saw it 6 other times while driving down the 8 mile road. It was orange the whole way down the road and we got it on a friends camera on his phone…we had heard that you’re not suppose to film it for some reason, so after we filmed it and it showed up again it was red…i kid you not it was the scariest thing i’ve ever seen, there are a couple houses down that road but my friends have said that the people look like the people off the movie wrong turn, inbred and freaky as hell…this is no joke bragg road is a true legend, and is just a long straight dirt road that leads from 1 highway to another. I never believed the story until i seen it for myself. I have heard it was swamp gas (methane gas) and the light doesn’t just show disappear after it appears, you will see it for a couple seconds or for a couple minutes, but the light doesn’t just show go away like car lights or something, it fades out and then disappears…it really is freaky, if you have any question you can email me at trojanmanof06@yahoo.com it really is a sight to see!!

I have been down Bragg road several times and did see the light once. The light was at the far end of the road near the existing train tracks. It was very white with a light violet color emanating from the middle. It hovered near the train tracks for quite some time. The real puzzler is the cemetery located near Bragg road. As someone else was driving, I am not exactly sure of the location, but I have visited it. There is a tombstone in the cemetery which faces a different direction from the rest. I did see this tombstone located next to an old, vine-covered tree, but was pretty scared and left quickly.
I was told it was the grave of a lady thought to be a witch, thus her tombstone was placed in that direction. Can anyone else provide more insight about the cemetery story? I also heard from a friend that he was knocked unconscious while in the cemetery and his car would not start…
