My husband and I went up to Bragg Rd a couple of weeks ago. We went around 8:30-9:00. It was a week night so there was no one else on the road for a little while. We live about an hour from the road, but I had always wanted to see it since my husband told me about it. We had talked to friends and they said to ride with all the lights off really slowly down the road and keep an eye out for the light. Well, we kept seeing this light behind us that would stay for a little while and then would disappear. We thought it was other cars on the road passing Bragg Rd but were later told that that was the light. It never got close, just stayed way back behind us and would appear, get brighter, then dimmer, then disappear. It felt a little creepy and I thought it was pretty weird for people to live along the road, (can anyone say crazy?) but for most of the drive, it was kind of peaceful. Then we saw a light in front of us and we thought that might be the light, but it turned out to be a car coming the other direction. I’d like to go out there again later at night and see if I can see it some more, but I’m not scared at all. Some things in this world, we just cannot explain, and maybe that’s the way it’s supposed to be.

my uncle told us his story where, years ago he worked near the area and had to pass by the track regularly during the night! He would see the actual headless man, in an all white suit, he told me and brothers, that the tall black man, (a headless figure in all white) was on one side of the track with it’s head down in a crouch like position, jumps across the track very high up in the air, and a second jump over a huge ditch that runs along side the ditch, then ran across the street where he was watching and stopped when it got on the other side of the street, turned the body in the direction of my uncle and headed quickly into the woods, it stood in front of.

My Uncle is a very strong, fearless man, who recalls that moment exactly the same to whomever inquires, he also told us about a bright light he would often see, he described it as a bright lantern like, floating in the air that disappears! After reading the Story today, I know now why he saw the things he did!

I live in Saratoga. We go to Bragg Road all the time. Every time I go, I start at the FM 787 side because I live on that side. What you do is turn your lights off at the beginning of the road and drive slowly all the way down. Just keep your eyes open for any lights. Also, there are usually other cars driving down the road, and sometimes their headlights can be mistaken for the light. But if, as you continue towards the light, it stays in one ball and doesn’t split into two (headlights), then this is the light. All the times I’ve been and seen it, it has never gotten past the front of my car. It is never beside you, in the woods. If you see it, you will see it in the middle of the road. When you come out at FM 1293, go straight and there is a set of railroad tracks. People just play on those, you know the classic legend of the kids that will push your car off for you if it turns off? Well, there is no Saratoga story like that, but people still play on the tracks. Also, if you go all the way down, to the 1293 side, you can turn right and go down that highway until you see another dirt road, then turn down it and keep going until you come to a graveyard. Somewhere in the graveyard is the Witch’s Grave, but every time you go the headstone is moved a different way. The story says that the people of Thicket and Saratoga hung this witch and buried her body in the graveyard. There are alot of headstones and it’s really dark, but you can find her. I’ve seen the headstone a few times and every time it is moved a different way. Scary stuff. But take it from a person who has lived in Saratoga her whole life, the light is real!

I have been to this road many times. there have been a few times we saw nothing and my grandpa always said it was swamp gas. It has crossed my mind that it could be car lights from other cars. But the thing is many times it faded from white to yellow to red. For those of you who think it’s just a silly story, I double dog dare you to go and actually cuss out the light. We went one night in high school and were dissappointed about not seeing anything so we start yelling in the middle of the road, we got your head and other stupid stuf and it all of sudden turned red and moved fast and I still get chills about that night and we got in the truck and sped off two were in the back of the truck and it got right up to the tailgate red and they were screaming to get the “hell” out of there and we went as fast as we could. Another time we had to pee and crossed a fence and in the field and did our business and the light came slowly and white this time and I don’t think we even finished but it was so close and moved like a being not gas. it follows it chases and it changes.

At least TRY to get it right. The light is most often called the Saratoga Light, sometimes the Bragg Road Ghost Light. Bragg has a double G. It’s near Saratoga, not Sour Lake. I have cruised Bragg Road by day and night, dozens of times. The light takes several forms; I’ve seen an intense blue-white light, like a mercury-vapor searchlight; it’s sometimes a tiny red or white light that weaves back and forth across the road, sometimes for four or five minutes before sailing off into the sky; some have reported a huge ball of eerie red light the size of a Jeep chasing their car. I have not personally seen the red light. Two people whom I trust reported seeing a beast resembling a hairy wild man. But the tale of the missing head is purely apocryphal. No one here in Hardin County believes that.

Boudicca, I know of several cemeteries in the vicinity. I’d check this one for you if you could give me more info to find the right one.
I don’t know if we can exchange email adresses on this site.

I have traveled down this road before. Although my experience is quite different. My two friends and I made a special, late night hour and a half drive out to investigate the sightings we had heard so much about. Much to our dismay the directions we had aquired off the internet were confusing, so of course we got lost. Really lost. I’m not sure how it happened but all of a sudden we passed this small road that went to the right with a wooden sign out beside it. I whipped the car around to go back and see what the sign had said. Well, sure enough that was it! The famous road of the ghost light. We slowly drove down the old road. It was so dark, and the trees and brush were so overgrown, you could hear scratching on the doors. We were absolutely alone out there. My two friends were already freaked out due to the stressful trip and being lost out in the middle of nowhere. Then it happened, about a 1/4 mile down Bragg’s road. I saw it first in the rear view mirror. A soft orange glow appeared. I looked back and alerted my friends. There it was getting bigger as if it were moving towards us.It was just big and orange and glowing. It didn’t move except for the illusion if it coming closer. We were in shock. I turned around and looked in the rear view again and it was gone, then back out the window and it was there again. It was so unreal. I couldn’t explain it if I tried. I will never forget that trip. and how we were lost and confused and tired, yet we mysteriously found the road without trying. As well as an awesome experience traveling down it.

I have been here. It’s all a hoax. there is a camp site right off this road for hunters. And during Halloween (when everyone likes to go) its hunting season or they are getting their feeders ready. The guys walk around with lanterns to try to scare people. Heck we ever got board there and pulled off the road into the camp and grabbed our phones and when a car passed lit them up and people would actually scream!! The “light” we thought we saw was just the car in front of us but way down the road so the light looked hazy as everyone decribes. The only truth in this story is the road you drive down did used to be a railroad.

Definitively NOT a hoax … went, saw, came home

Yep… real. Saw it, myself, or I would also be a skeptic. Scariest thing I have ever witnessed. Stayed in the center of the road behind me. Looked like it was up in the trees at times… because I could see branches in front of it. I agree with people that described it as looking like a big round halogen light. Scary… must go see.

Been their 4 to 5 times, seen it, not scared of it and have photographed it. Website with my pics: You do get schoolkids in daddys truck trying to fool you now and again so avoid school holidays and friday, saturday and sundays. Best time to go is late at night on a weeknight and winter, the nigt I took the pics it was raining. Take a good flahlight as shining it towards it will instantly reveal if its a car or note. It chases your car, fades in and out, does all those things people are describing. Enjoy! It’s your best chance to see something unexplainable.

The light is completely natural phenomenon. Nothing scary about headlights. The Bigfoot that roam the area are another story. Yes, it’s true. They’ve kept pace with cars off to the side, screamed, crossed the road, come up and hit cars, growled, pushed trees down…It’s not a joke. They’re real and dangerous.
