Let me tell you about this light, the only scary thing is the long litttle dirt road you have to drive on. I have been there years ago and the only thing that scared me was all the other teenagers there drinking and playing pranks on everyone. I never saw the swamp-gas light. I was always told you sit on the rail road tracks turn off you lights and looks down the track. Its all bull s

I live about an hour from the Bragg Rd. and yea the light is scary and all, but ya’ll are leaving out the school bus full of children that was hit by a train on the other side of the highway. I know, I know, people are reading this and thinking “OMG.. not another stupid story”, but you can really look this up in the newspaper archives. Back in the 1940’s Bragg Road was a very populated road (not so much anymore… obviously). After school one day a school bus with some children and teenagers home. They were crossing over the railroad tracks when the bus suddenly stalled. The worst part was a train was barreling down the tracks at them (this was before rail-road crossing signs). The bus driver tried to get the children off but, not all of them made it off. I think it was about 7 of the children that died from the impact. Now, my point was, if you go to the spot of the accident and put your car in neutral on the tracks (they are no longer running trains down there anymore), and sit and wait, your car will be “pushed” off of the tracks. Or if you park your car beside the tracks and put some baby powder or soft dirt on your trunk, sit for about 15 min and get out, there will be little hand prints on your car from the children. Now, I know that this sounds silly, but three other people did both of these things and I have the pictures to prove it!! I unfortunately can’t post these pictures on here but I am telling you this is for real!!

Well Janice, the brag lights are not in San Antonio and they are not in Sour Lake, (I don’t know why they have Sour Lake down). They are in Saratoga, Texas which is about 30 minutes from Sour Lake. Both cities are very small but I guess Sour Lake is bigger…lol!

Hey Y’all,
My name is Trish…I live about 30 minutes away from Bragg Road. As a matter of fact, my boyfriend Malcom, my friend Jacob, and my friend Charity, went to this road last night. We knew that we would see it, because we had all already been there before and saw it. We were on the road for about 30 minutes probably, and it appeared right behind us. At first, it was just a dim light, but then it started turning red and then would dissapear. Now I dont know about y’all but headlights and taillights dont fade off change colors like that, you know. But as far as I know, its true, and I belive it because I saw it. So thats my story!:-)
Thanks,
Trish

I have been to the Saratoga-Bragg light Rd which they have renamed Ghost Light Rd. We went around 8:30 in the evening before the local teens in pickups start showing up. At first the light shows up faint in the distance and gets bigger and brighter as it gets closer then fades out. There is thick woods on either side and nothing but a staight dirt road for 8 miles. As we were heading south a large light as big as a mack truck came out of the woods to our left in front of us and came right at us. I thought it was going to hit us but it just went off to the right and disappeared. There was no roads for anthing to turn off onto. As we were heading back the light appeared again and this time it chased us. As we picked up speed so did the light. This really freaked us out. It finally gave up the chase when another car showed up. This is a great place to visit if you want to find some excitement and scare a few freinds.

just wanted to say that I have lived for the last 50 years within 30 miles of the Bragg light and every thing you hear is true about that light and its appearances. However, there seems to be some confusion here.
In reference to Lauras testimony here on this forum, her story is great BUT the Bragg Light of Saratoga Texas has nothing at all to do with the school bus accident which took place at a place called THE TRACKS near San Antonio Texas. That story also is true . I have also been to the tracks many times. and was doing the baby powder test for prints of the children back in 1966 , 20 years before the story first aired in the mid 1980s on Unsolved Mysteries

I’ve been there! we are also going back with a couple of friends. we went there late one night. it was a clear cold night and we just turned our lights and engine off and just parked. for a long time nothing happened, then we saw this little light ahead of us. so i got out and took a picture. in the picture you can see a little light ahead of me. then 2 seconds later i took another picture and the light was alot closer and there was this fog also in the picture. there was no fog that night and yet it was in the picture. we couldnt explain it. so we went down a little further and it got a little closer and then all of a sudden, it dissapeared.
it was soo cool and creepy at the same time. I LOVED IT! i cant wait to go back!

Okay, I am going to be relocating to TX here in the next 6 months. I am going to visit this “ghost road” and report on my findings. I hope this will clear up the “not true” and “true” debate we have going on here. I say if you don’t think it is true, why not see for yourself!

I have been to that place before. I am orgianlly from southeast texas now living in Round rock, TX. My parents went when they were kids, I went too. When I got married my husband also went as well. Its true there have been people out there to discover what it is;but unexplained. My story is the road is a dirt road with trees on either side thick very thick with a railroad that runs next to it…well the road starts off running near a well traveled road, and at first the “light” usually is someones headlight..but when you go about 1mile down the dark road. By the way the road is only big enough for 1 car to go down…In my rear view mirror I see a light which looks like a car with one headlight.. so I thing nothing of it,, then it gets closer and brighter. So we turn off the car get out not me but my husband does,, and the light goes away it is now in front of the car bright as can be,,, he gets back in it goes away. So the road seems to last forever I am going about 30mph down the road to see how far I have to go. THe “light” is right next to the car in the woods same speed with the car, when we stop it stops, so forth. It is supposed to be some sord of gas, but I didnt know “gas” follows you, it would move from left to right. Thats my story of it..

I know it sounds wierd, but it happens. This has been documented on several shows as “Unexplained” but believe until you go see for your self. Its there.

Yes people this story is true! I’m not positive about the children (though I have heard that before), But the lights do appear. And for the record, Bragg Rd is in Saratoga. My grandoarents live 2 miles past Bragg! Mostly, now, the police are waiting at the end of Bragg to catch teenagers causing trouble.

Me and my friend Chelsea went last night with a group of our friends from our high school. At first we thought it was b.s. because one of the guys was tellin us bout how he went and all this and he was so scared. So we said we would walk down it. Well little did we know how long it was or that it WAS real. So we planned to go Last night. AS soon we turned on the road. We saw it behind us. It was green but then turned white. Sometimes we would see it in the trees or in front or behind us. It was really freaky. We didn’t go as far as the railroad tracks though cause the stupid guys wanted to “mess” with him. So we turned around at the end and went back down it… and once again there it was… it followed us and didn’t disappear once til the very end, all it did was flicker. Well then at the very end we were on the high way. It turned really really bright. So bright you could see the rays coming off of it. We thought they were headlgihts. But there was only one and it never got father away or got closer.. it stayed in one spot. So we backed up to it to see if it was a car. But it stayed a single light. At the end we turned around and shined our headlights on it.. it got real dim. If you turn you headlights off it gets real bright… we took off on the highway. And it DID follow us, for at LEAST 3-5 minutes. It was freaky. If you don’t believe it you should check it out for yourself. It’s a great experience and a lot of fun. You do have to be quiet and turn your lights off though. Trust US you’ll see it.

Good Luck!
Court n Chels.
