The area is real marshy and wet like most of the thicket is. It doesn't have to be near a swamp the area is in prime condition particularly the road, the tree's provide quiet a theater with it's darkness for the gas to reflect off. Ask any geologist. Yes, I know the light dissappears if you run up to it or chase it, even if you watch it for 5 mins, it always vanishes. I heard the story when I was a child but never believed it. The story goes he was inspecting a train car and it rolled ahead decapitating the man. He know roams the road, which was the old railroad, with his lantern looking for his head. So the light everyone says they've seen is not the man but his lantern...that is if the story is true.
