Bridge Near Railroad Tracks

07.23.2005 | 9:56 pm | Greenfield, Ohio, United States

Legend has it that one night a woman was walking along the railroad tracks with her daughter, trying to get her to sleep. The woman stopped along the bridge to nurse her child. As she was nursing, a train came suddenly around the bend. Frozen with fear, the woman and her baby were killed instantly. It is said that if one goes over the bridge and honks his horn, the baby will wake up and begin to cry. Allegedly, one will then hear the sound of the mother shushing the baby.

  2. I don’t really know if this is real or not. Thpugh i will confess it is very sad. However i do believe in paranormal activity, but some stories r just made up to amuse or terrify people.

details to this story, so that I can come to my
conclusion if this is possibly true or not. I
would also like to know the date, time, and

  8. This story is kind of sad if it’s true. But it doesn’t make any sense, I mean who in their right mind would stop in the middle of the railroad tracks to nurse her baby? Also if she did why didn’t she move when she heard the train coming? I mean trains aren’t excatly quiet.

  9. I’ve been to this bridge so many times…It’s not at all scary and the only thing you will see there is a bunch of spray painting, which I may or may not have done. If you plan to go out there, be ready to speed away, because the new tenants that live up the road won’t think twice about calling the police.

  10. Well, if you think about it…you can hear a train coming from a mile away. Trains are loud (even when they don’t use their horn) and it’s not going to come around a bend that fast and kill someone without them hearing it before it even makes it close enough to be threatening to their life. I will agree that it is sad.

  11. I remember when i took my daughter out at night to try and help her sleep…(since found out its not a good long term idea) but anyway, my state of tiredness and being focused so much on my daughter did dull my other senses. Maybe that was just a male thing. You know, not being able to multi task and all.
    Lots of love from N.Z.

  12. i live in greenfield, and have been out to that bridge many many times during the summer for some drinking. although i’ll admit it is creepy when its night and there are no lights around, so the moon is your only source of light, and the creek is lit up in a pretty creepy way. honestly, i dont think the stories are true because we’ve tried it, didnt work, so we spray painted. but i think everyone likes to think its real though, i know i do

  13. No mother in her right mind will stand on railroad tracks and nurse their baby! And most women will sit down somewhere, like a bench or something, to nurse. Babies are heavy and it is hard to hold a baby up so they can nurse while you are standing up. Heck, it’s hard to just stand up and hold a baby while doing nothing else. The story makes no sense and nobody would stand with a baby on train tracks long enough to actually get hit by the doggone train, trains give enough warning that they’re coming that you can get out of the way. Besides that your arms would get tired from standing there holding a baby in the same positon for any real length of time and you’d have to go find somewhere to sit down. This is a stupid, fake story that would be sad if it ever actually happened!!

    I Live In This Town
    There ARE MANY HAUNTINGS.
    This Is Sad.
    But I Tried It.
Off The Bridge I Heard The Faint Sound Of A Older Woman
But Nothing Went On About A Mother Shushing A Baby.
Maybe I Will Try It Agian
