I remember back in second grade our class took a tour of everything. I’ve heard all the stories having lived in Galion for 21 years. But, none before my tour and I still remember some freaky things going on. I believe it’s haunted. My suggestion, go there before you hear stories. That way you arent expecting things and misinterpret things as hauntings!

Hello, I was born and raised in Galion, If any of you remember the bluish gray colored house that was directly across the street 129 south union? It is now a parking lot for the church. I was born and raised in that house until we moved out, at that time I was then 14.
I can honestly say for sure I would sit on the front porch with my parents at dusk and we would see someone sitting in the front glass covered porch and would also see a shadow of a person mid height wearing at times a dark colored suit with light gray hair walking about. We also at our house had a dirt cellar that had an opening that was a tunnel from our house to the church to the left next door and straight under our front porch under Union street to the cottage. It had been covered up with sandstone and mortar before my parents obtained the place. I am now 46 years old and I do remember everything I saw there. I can honestly say there was activity inside the cottage.
The caretaker was in a separate residence at the far corner of the property at times we would see the caretaker come and go from his residence at the same time we would see bishop brown moving about so we knew it wasn’t the caretaker at that time. In fact one summer night the caretaker came out to the iron fence to look at something and my grandmother walked across the street to have a conversation with him, Being that he was not to much on talking he did say hi and introduced himself, although I do not remember his name I do remember what happened just shortly after he introduced himself to my grandmother. Just after that the curtains had moved upstairs in the front bedroom just above the study, my grandmother said to me did you see that? As I looked the caretaker turned and looked himself and just made the comment ” oh the bishop is just checking in for the night to read a book before falling to sleep” so the caretaker acted as if it was normal so he must have been aware also of activity.
At times we would see bishop brown several times a night stirring about then not see anything for days. We would also see the curtains move from side to side as if he was keeping an eye out on his property.
Is this weird? Just history from someone who did see this first hand from a distance of less than 100 feet.

Well, I am 16 and I have lived in Galion my whole life. I am very aware of this house. I remember Mrs. Gerhish’s Home ec room being in the basement of the okd middle school and soe morning you could see Mr. Brown walking through the glass hallway. But that isn’t the only experience I have had with the house. My Ex-boyfriend and I were going to get my sister last summer from the skating rink. Well we had spare time so we stopped in front of the cottage just being funny, and him fooling around with me(I have had ghost experoences my whole life so it freaks me out, he knew that) But he was like stunned for like five minutes. He was just starring up at the upstairs window, So once I looked for myself, Mr. Brown himself, was standing at the window looking staright at us. It was like he was protecting his house or something. He looked like he was really upset that we were sitting outside his house. So my Ex-boyfriend an I decided it was time to go get my sister. It was reallly freaky!!

I was born and raised in Galion. I went to the school across from Brownella Cottage for elementary school and “junior high.” We lived on N. Union St. and after the school dances, my friends and I would literally run past the house in a scared panic. My father told the story that he, as a teenager, jumped the fence and began to look in the windows to see any activity. He saw the Bishop in the glass walkway and beat a hasty retreat. So he sowre and I agree it is haunted.

This house is located in Galion Ohio..in Crawford county zip code is 44833 for anyone who didnt no. I toured the cottage when i was about 9. We only toured the house not the outer buildings. From what i remember it was beautiful. I remember seeing a pair of glasses that i reffered to as the Harry Potter glasses:)…i also remember the tour guides taking us into a room and after telling us about the history and everything they asked up to find the hand painted shooting star on the ceiling. The ceiling was covered in stars but i found the shooting star and it was pretty cool at the time haha. Well i’m looking forward to watching the up coming show on this fantastic cottage..on june 11 i believe..it is just so cool that this is near where i live and grew up.

Love Brownella Cottage..but am replying to Carl Werther about The Spy. I tried emailing and email name was wrong. Anyway, I don’t know about the Historical Society but the Galion Public Library has a room downstairs that has old yearbooks. I have only checked the ones in the 1950′s so don’t know if they need a 1935 or not.

Brownella is not the “oldest house in Galion”, & I never heard about a girl being murdered there. A video tour of the home is available at galion live.online which explains its history.
