Real Haunted House

Bunny Man Bridge

Fairfax Station, Virginia

During the 1800s, a man went off to hunt for food. Upon return to his home, however, he discovered the mutilated bodies of his wife and child. Immediately, he summoned the sheriff. Since the bodies were so horribly mutilated and there were no other suspects, the husband was sent to a mental institution. Maintaining his innocence, the man vowed revenge. After escaping from the institution, the man took up residence near a bridge. Since the only clothes he owned were those made from rabbits’ skin, he soon became known as the “Bunny Man.” As time passed, children started playing near and around the Bunny Man. When several children came up missing, the authorities were notified. When they reached the bridge, officials saw body parts of the children hanging from trees; they also saw the Bunny Man being run over by a train. Today it is said that one may see body parts hanging from the trees and will hear the Bunny Man laughing.

you guys are nuts. I used to live out there. I have been there at midnight, daylight and avery time inbetween. I used to hang out in the woods, there is a creek to the right of it, and look for crawfish, and find them! If you follow the road to the end there used to be a gravel road that went off to the left and down a hill. The only wierd thing I ever noticed was a group of dead trees in a circle with big healthy trees all around. That area is blocked off now because of all the teenage drinking. The place is NOT scarey at all.

the mental hospital is gone. It was off of compton road. It is now a residential neighborhood. The “shack” is on private property. If you trespass the owner CAN shoot as the area is zoned agricultural and the use of firearms is allowed on the property.

to get to bunny man bridge from ox road (rt. 123) take fairfax station road west until you t-bone Colchester road.
turn left onto colchester road and drive straight into the lame bunny man bridge.

Now if you are coming from Braddock rd. turn onto Colchester rd. and follow it till it dead ends. Bunny man bridge is the ONLY bridge on that road.

To Charles (6/18/2006 post):
The ’shrine’ that you saw by the bridge is further up the road, it is where a girl died in a car accident a few years ago. Clifton is a very dark place with tons of winding narrow roads surrounded by trees. It has nothing to do with locals, just an unfortunate car accident.
As far as the bridge goes, I’ve been there many times. It’s ’scary’ because Clifton is just a dark area surrounded by woods in general. I’ve never seen anything, nor have I known anyone who has seen anything. Clifton itself has a few ghosts however, as many soldiers from the Civil War fought there hundreds of years ago.

To get to bunnyman bridge:
Take Ox Road (route 123) South– going away from Reston going towards Lorton.
Turn Right on Fairfax Station Road. The road will split, stay to the right.
Go to the end of Fairfax Station Road, it will come to a T, turn left (onto Colchester Road). Keep going straight to follow Colchester (don’t get back on Fairfax Station Rd). The bridge is straight ahead.

Okay, so January 6th, 2008. me and my best friend Dylan decide to go there one morning . We had a sleepover the night before and we wanted to go then, but the night was rainy and we didn’t want his parents finding out that we snuck out because we’d be all in muddy clothes. Anyway, we decided to skateboard there since we love skateboarding. Dylan lives in downtown Clifton so we head out from Main Street, past Clifton Rd. We then skated through Newman Rd then turned right onto Fairfax Station Road.
Now, the whole trip was full of steep hills which we enjoyed riding on. Fairfax Stn Rd is a lot different though. At about 2/3 through the road was this HUUUUGE Hill. My friend went ahead and skated down it like nothing was wrong. I thought I could do the same thing. NOT. As I was skating down the last part of the road, I noticed I was gaining a LOT of speed. I started panicking and my board started to wobble. I knew that if I wobbled too much I could crash into a tree. I stomp on the ground as quickly as I could and WOOOAAH! I flew for about 3 seconds in the air then rolled like soccer ball for about 7 seconds until I finally stopped the roll with left hand. I didn’t get seriosuly injured but I did get a bad scrape on my right elbow. So yeah, TALK ABOUT BAD LUCK!!!

Then we turned right onto Colchester road and saw this memorial for this girl named “Lauren”. I was pretty freaked out but I joked with my friend that “Her ghost now haunts that part of the road!” He got all freaked out.
So then we skate the rest of the way down to Bunnyman Bridge. I got a relieved but eerie feeling when I got there with Dylan. There it was, Bunnyman Bridge. Now I was and still am a bit skeptical about the stories and rumors. As soon as me and Dylan took our first steps, we felt this negative energy. SERSLY, YOU COULD FEEL IT. We heard some people talking and we thought they coming this way. It was just a couple walking their two white hair colored husky dogs. We said Hi and everything then they continued on with their walk. As soon as you couldn’t hear them anymore, my friend starting talking about “the big flash of light you see before you die” there. Then we noticed how our voices echoed WAY TOO MUCH for a tiny little bridge like that.
We both grabbed our skateboards and started banging certain parts of the tunnel that we thought were HOLLOW. We made epic echoes. Right after they ended, we started hearing things. Went walked out to the other side and nobody was there. We climbed on top of the bridge and looked around the area. nobody. We then jumped when we heard my friends cell phone ring. It was my sister and she wanted to meet up with us at this Ice Rink in Reston. We agreed but we wouldn’t meet up till 2:30 hours later. Right when we hung up, WE SWEAR we heard children screaming from somewhere in the woods or BELOW us in the tunnel. Dylan then brought out his camera and we started taking pictures of ourselves in front and inside of the tunnel. We then went through the tunnel one more time to get back to Colchester. Even though it was (and still is) January, IT WAS FREEZING IN THERE. We got so freaked out, we ran and as we ran a flock of crows (I think) flew right above us and started to “caw” at us real loudly. We ran as fast as we could and right when we passed that “Lauren Memorial” they stopped cawwing at us.

We then had a bit of bad luck the rest of the day, we spent all our money at this expensive cafe before we could go ice skating. My sister’s best friend got into argument with her. My baby brother got sick that night. Not to mention I couldn’t get my scrape treated till the next day.

I think Bunnyman gives you bad luck and/or something paranormal happens to you. Not to mention Clifton’s had a pretty bad past as some people have told me (like murders and weird accidents).

Okay, well that’s pretty much all I can give you for right now. Maybe the Bunnyman stories could’ve been just myths but SOMETHING is there. And it’s not good.
I should know, I was there in broad daylight, with my best friend.

Your Welcome,
JohnnyBoyy

IVE NEVER SEEN SO MANY LIARS TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT. PATHETIC! OK first off, the whole story on this page about it,is completely wrong! none of that is even in the folklore of the place. whoever wrote this info on the place had never been, nor has ever heard the real/fake story.I live in walking distance of it and have lived there, well here (Clifton) all my life. Been there tons of times all night long. Even in the woods all around the place, night/day outings. There’s nothing out of the ordinary or weird about it. anybody who says so is either an idiot or paranoid like crazy or mostly, a liar. Yes, it is ominous because it’s the most random structure in the whole town area but its a damn crossing for a train! thats it!

Another thing, all these kids up there talking about how “they” went to the insane asylum and theres a “hospital” and its “still there in the woods”, “we walked or drove to it” blah blah is LYING! HAHA there is no buildings back there in the woods! u cant even drive more than barely a 100 yards past the bridge! it’s been blocked for years! and even if it wasn’t blocked, theres trees the size of buildings at the end of the road! wherever they said they went, wasn’t bunny man bridge in Clifton!

The most widely circulated written version entitled The Clifton Bunny Man and signed by Timothy C. Forbes, Virginia, was posted on a Web site called Castle of Spirits around 1999. This version of the tale is actually quite notable because of the number of specific facts given. Forbes claims that in 1904 inmates from an insane asylum escaped while being transferred to Lorton Prison. One of these escapees, Douglas J. Grifon, murdered fellow escapee Marcus Wallster and eventually became the Bunny Man. Not only is the location identified, but also the names of several victims and the dates of their murders. The story ends with a challenge for the reader to check with the Clifton Town Library for verification of the facts.

HERES THE HARSH REALITY FROM SOMEONE (ME) WHO ACTUALLY LIVES HERE KIDS….Little effort was required to show that all of the specifics given in the Forbes version are FALSE. FIRST– there has NEVER been an asylum for the insane in Fairfax County, EVER! SECOND– Lorton Prison didn’t come into existence until 1910, and even then it was an arm of the District of Columbia Corrections system, not Virginia’s. THIRD– neither Grifon nor Wallster appear in the court records of Fairfax County. HERES THE BEST PART—- there is NOT and has NEVER been a Clifton Town Library! SO, what im saying is this- Theres no bunny man, theres no curse, its not bad luck. theres houses right next to it 10 feet away. if the **** was haunted, the people would have moved don’t u think? or there would have been more murders within the 30 years ive lived here and as for the ghost kids “laughing” and “screaming”..uh yeah, theres like hundreds of kids in the area, at all times! so come and check it out! only thing that’ll scare you, is yourself. hey!

I know for a fact that the bunny man does exist. I have seen him with my own eyes.I was a kid when my friend and I saw him in the woods near a bridge where I used to live. he tried to grab us but we ran home and told our parents but of course they didn’t believe us. But the funny thing was is that he was atleast 6ft tall and he was a complete bunny but standing on two legs. I dont care what anyone says I saw what I saw and it still haunts me to this day.

Marylin says:

February 22, 2008, 8:49 pm

how can you say it is a lie when 28 people were murdered and hung from the bridge? Back in 58 a couple of teenagers went there being idiots and the police found them the next day to two boys hanging from one side of the bridge mutilated and the girl was hung on the other side. And another one was when a girl and her two friends went up there. When one of the girls got frustrated and wanted to leave she was callinf for her friends and when she turned around she ran into them but they were hanging from the bridge mutilated. The bunnyman story is real and stories I just told you are real cause it was told on the show “Scariest places on Earth” and their are police reports. Now how do you explain 28 deaths and people hanging from the bride mutilated?

amg says:

February 27, 2008, 2:23 pm

i think you were on acid. there were no mass murders. do you believe everything you see on TV? that show is a bunch of ****. if you want facts try researching old news paper articles for your so called facts

this story is such bullshit. link up all of the so called “stories”. none of them match. plus look at all the key words they give us. (halloween, ax murderers, bright lights, men dressed in bunny suits, people hanging from bridges) gee, it sounds like a great horror movie doesn’t it?

if you go to well researched websites like ohhh let me see….the fairfax county website, you’ll see it has all been de-bunked.
