Bunny Man Bridge
During the 1800s, a man went off to hunt for food. Upon return to his home, however, he discovered the mutilated bodies of his wife and child. Immediately, he summoned the sheriff. Since the bodies were so horribly mutilated and there were no other suspects, the husband was sent to a mental institution. Maintaining his innocence, the man vowed revenge. After escaping from the institution, the man took up residence near a bridge. Since the only clothes he owned were those made from rabbits’ skin, he soon became known as the “Bunny Man.” As time passed, children started playing near and around the Bunny Man. When several children came up missing, the authorities were notified. When they reached the bridge, officials saw body parts of the children hanging from trees; they also saw the Bunny Man being run over by a train. Today it is said that one may see body parts hanging from the trees and will hear the Bunny Man laughing.

So my friends and I went 2 check out the bunnyman bridge and nothing happened. We walked under the bridge but the only thing to be scared of was the fear of getting hit by an unseen car soaring down the road like they r on a drag strip. I must say I was very dissappointed!

I am writing a book for Schiffer Publishing on myths, legends, folklore, and bizarre true stories of Virginia. I already have one book publsihed by Schiffer, Haunted Richmond.
I have a Bunnyman of Virginia chapter in this new book. The website from the librarian would be the truth behind what is an urban legend. On the asylum, well, there are facts that show that this has nothing to do with the ax wielding murderer. The closest and I believe what the gentleman who researched it would be couple instances of someone in a bunny costume threatening people that are on police reports back in the 70s. By the way, this bunny man never murdered anyone.
But this is a neat urban legend, untrue as it is like all urban legends, that like all gets passed on by others who keep the story going. There is someone who started it–a real bunny man and it got embellished in the long run. Just like the “Richmond vampire”, a real man named W.W. Poole, but never a vampire.

me and my friends diceded to go there as a joke one night. It was the worst night of my life, i swear to god. We where walking up the track one by one behiond each other to make sure nothing happened. Every now and again we heard this laughing. Then i felt a soft hand, brush the back of my leg. I looked back, but i couldnt see a thing, considering i was at the back of the line. Suddenly, i felt a slight tug at my pants whilst i contiued to walk and fear over come me and i wasnt able to scream. All of a sudden, i was knocked over by some kind of fource and my pants appeared to be missing. Then this dark silloutte appeared over me. I was frightened, and wasnt able to top shacking when i noticed his clothes where made out of fur. It must have been the bunny man, i would bet my life on it. With a wicked laugh, he lent over and pushed his hand against my mouth making all chance of me able to scream escape me. he turned me over and pushed my face into the dirt, still holding his nad to my face. I found it difficult to breathe when i felt a hand rub against my bottum. Then something began to prod its way into my arshole it was pain ful, and i let out a slight sigh of pain. then just as soon as it started, it was over. He had left, with the only mark he had left on me to show it was real was a number carved into my back with some sort of sharp knife. it read the number ‘23′ and a painful, tenderised arshole. Stubbenly i was trying to run away from the sceane, it felt like something was lodged up my arsehole. I reached my hand back, to find a lucky rabbits foot. Too this day, i still feel that it was this that saved my life that night.

Fredrick, i feel your pain. Unfortunetly i was number 16. Mounths after i was raped, i began to feel this tingeling in my uterous, like fur was brushing up against it. For a while, i felt it quite erotic till, the feeling would not leave. I began to fear that the bunny man was haunting my uterous. I had a fellow friend, who happaned to be a preist. He did all the exassisum techniqes he could use, but nothing seem to work. He continued to place a funnel in my ******, and poured holy water in. This too didnt work, so i gave up and tried to live with the feeling of unholyness. Untill nine mounths later, i gave birth to this messed up baby.
It seemed to be half rabbit, half humen. In other words a freak.
It was a home birth, so instead of the humilation, i drowned it in a toilet bowl and burnt it so it was unreconisable. Only one person knows this story, and he never talked to me again. I felt like i could tell you this as others went threw the same thing

I have been there and I have yet to experience a damn thing. I even climbed to the top where the railroad track is located. Again, NOTHING! People live around that bridge on either side…I mean houses about 30 feet from the bridge, and they will call the police on your ***. LOL

So I’ve lived on Colchester Road for the last 15 years and HAVE NEVER heard of anyone being raped by the bunnyman ghost. I have had some weird encounters there, but it could have been b/c my friends and I used to smoke pot out there. I’ve heard of cars turning off while driving under the bridge and I’ve actually seen kids chanting under the bridge, but the stories about being raped by some bunnyman sound bogus to me.
e-mail me at westjeep@gmail.com if you disagree.

I went there, it was creepy. Most of you are overreacting. Furthermore I didn’t see any body parts hanging, blood dripping, and maniacal laughter mostly found in hollywood movies.

my friends and i made a video for a school project there was once. its a spooky looking bridge but we didnt hear or see anything. lots of rumors though. one night at a party close by my drunk friend decided that he would go to bunnyman bridge by himself to prove nothing was there. well..he went there and sat there for 2 hours drinking beer and smoking weed and nothing happened to him. and this was at 1:30 at night!! and to prove he was there he kept us updated through videos and pics through his video phone! so yea its all a bunch of rumors. but the place does look creepy with the long narrow pink bridge.

I have been to bunnyman bridge many times. Im not going to lie i have experienced many wierd things there. Out of the 8 times ive been their 5 times the car has shut off unlocked windows go down with nobody in the car. Ive never been down to the shack tho i didnt even realize there was one there… looks like i will go investigate. By the way my car is only 2 years old so its not like my car dies all of the time! but beware the fairfax county police do not put up with people near that bridge ive been stopped once and they denied any wierd things happing. But when you drive down those roads the closer you get to the bridge the colder it gets….

I definitely think the Fairfax County Police are covering up something that happened there, maybe because they didn’t want the town to have a bad reputation or something. I mean, why do police keep patrolling the god damn bridge?! If nothing ever happened, why do they keep an eye on it? If I was like town mayor and some horrible murder or murders happened at the bridge, I would probably cover it up for the sake of the town too. I’m not saying it has anything to do with bunnies or spirits, but I definitely think something horrible happened there.
If you’ve seen the film “Urban Legend”, you’ll get what I mean.
I might have to investigate this myself…

I suggest that you not bother going there, and if you do not to linger for long. Some people think that it feels eerie at the bridge. I was more worried about cops. Police patrol the area regularly and the bridge is now under constant CCTV surveillance.
BTW, there is no record of there ever being a mental institution anywhere nearby Clifton. It’s a myth.
