Real Haunted House

Carriage Raiders

Goodwater, Alabama

Residents of the area have reported hearing both a baby cry, and a horse-drawn carriage passing by. No one knows the story behind the activity, but many have their suspicions. Some claim that raiders took over a passing carriage, killed the adults inside, and left the baby in the woods to starve to death.

If you want a really scary place to visit near goodwater, try Sturdivant Mansion outside of Alexander City just past the River Brigde, it’s one heck of a scare and trust me, I’ve had my own experiences there. I’ve seen a shadow ghost of a man actually follow my friends and I through the woods in the surrounding property.
Sturdivant was a very old bed and breakfast that is only yards away from the old R/R station that runs across the River. The story goes that one night a man left the train and checked in, during the night he murdered all the occupants of the bed and breakfast in their sleep and simply boarded the train the next morning. This has actually been redcorded in Alexander City history. Sadly the only remaining structures left are the rock walls that stand 2 stories tall to bothe the mansion and the “lobby”, which are covered with graffitti. About half of the double chimneys are left slightly covered by the old rotten hardwood floors and ceiling beams that use to hold up the second floor. Also along the long winding road way back off in the woods you will see a full chimney still standing from the old workers house, it’s covered in Ivy and Vines but is still not that hard to miss. If you want detailed directions, contact me @ vunger9800@caccmail.cacc.edu , I can give you detailed directions considering me boyfriend and I frequent the mansion.

Happy Haunting….
