Cemetery
This cemetery is said to have been built by a Satanic family so that they might have an eternal resting place. In the middle of the cemetery, there are thirteen steps that lead to nowhere. Called the thirteen steps to hell, it is said that once a person walks downs these stairs, they perish instantly. Others, who have barely made it out alive, have reported seeing their spirit in hell at the bottom of the steps. It is reported that one man ran across the cemetery and was scared so badly, that he was never seen again.

Well, I believe in God, but I also believe in teenage years. If you don’t go hunting around in creepy places as a teenager with friends, then you miss the best times of your life

Two friends and I went to the cemetery in high school, back in 2002. It was during the day, and it didn’t seem that weird. But something did scare the living daylights out of us. We asked these two gentlemen at the chevron where the cemetery was located; to re-assure ourselves that it was the correct place we had been to. What had started out as a normal conversation quickly transformed into hail-satanism, and they showed us their giant devil tattoos and then said that kids need to stop tromping around in their cemetery, so we sped off.

HOLY ****. THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO US.
Just like in a bad horror movie we stopped at the cheveron (or mabye it was the shell) station and asked about the cemetary. The guy immediately got really angry and told us not to go back there. He practically threatened away to stay away from the cemetary.

I grew up in Bothell and had close friends in high school who lived off Paradise Lake Road who’s house was always the hang out place, so my friends and I drove up and down that road a all the time. I do recall going out to the cemetary there, once at night and once in the day time and neither times did anything strange happen or leave me feeling creeped out. What always intrigued me was not the “Steps” but the supposed woman in white who haunted the actual road itself. According to everyone I knew, she would walk out in the middle of the road causing accidents all the time. That road is quite dangerous as it is lined with ravines on one side and if you stop on the side and look out there you will see a lot of cars that went over the edge. I don’t know that those accidents were caused by anything more than drinking or stupidity, but I was always creeped out driving through that section, especially as, like another person posted on here, there is ALWAYS fog out there at night….ALWAYS. No matter what time of year or what the weather is like..but that just adds to the creepiness. It isn’t proof of anything. The reason I am posting, though is to find out from anyone here if the story about the woman in white is way off base or if there is some validity to it. My cousin came out to visit years ago, just after I got out of highschool and her and her husband and me and my boyfriend at the time were hanging out one night. She wanted to go driving around and find something to do and we mentioned Paradise Lake Road (because my boyfriend at the time was crazy and loved to drive fast adn dangerously on the windiest roads possible and PLR is one of the best roads around for that)and the woman in white. She got very excited and really wanted to go because a few months back (this would have been ‘96 or ‘97) she had seen a segment on Unsolved Mysteries about that very ghost story. Does anyone here have any insight or heard anything about this?

just went to this place tonite and it was scary going up because you got to go through woods to get there but its surrounded by houses so we were really quite. we were allowed to be there. we found like 10 tombstones, some a lot more recent which didnt make sense, but there are no trails and we ended up going off trail. so no ragidy ann spirit. it was just a lot of tombstones randomly disbursed in different places, but then a hill off the trail and it was dissapointing to find no stairs to hell.

The 13 Steps to Hell have been cemented over and there have been houses built around the cemetary however you do have to take Paradise Lake Road to get to it. As soon as you get across the Snohomish line (coming from King County) you’ll come around a sharp corner with houses built down below the road and across the street from the 4th house on the right there will be a small dirt pull off area and the trail leading to the cemetary will be there. If you bring a Ouijia Board and some friends, you’re guaranteed to get a spook out of it. (The only reason they cemented the stairs was that the community was raising complaints about kids going in there at all hours of the night, so keep it down when you go there).

The 13 Steps of Hell is NOT IN DUVALL!! Its not even close and there is no such think as the Redmond Duvall Road (in regards to Edna’s comment). I’m not sure how long you’ve lived out in Duvall but I’ve been here my whole life and nothing like that road has ever existed and if there was it wouldn’t be anywhere near Batten Road. Just an FYI.

Dear Doolittles,
Hi, curious person here. I was wondering if perhaps you would know who to get into contact with to snap a few photos of the cemetary during the day? I have a huge interest in photography and old gravestones sounds like a wonderful thing to shoot.
On top of that, has anybody ever considered that whoever belonged to the “Order of Pendo” might have been in law? Pendo is latin for “to weigh” or “to judge.” It seems that a quick google search has shown that everything that deals with the “Order of Pendo” also somehow deals with law or courts. Could you, Frank Doolittle, shed any light on this?
Well, anyhow thanks for any information. Also, any other information about the cemetary would be a cool plus.

my friends and I went, and it was okay. Maybe there was a reason why all these people who were being drunk and disrespectful to the cemetary saw visions of hell and such, obviously they weren’t wanted. My friends and I went, and crept around, were quiet and said “I’m sorry” each time we had to step on a grave – something which bothered me intensely, that the paths were laid out directly over the graves. It’s just a spooky old cemetery on someone’s property that’s even creepier at night because it’s in a forest.
I suppose be respectful to the owner’s wishes and if you do have to go there please be quiet and respectful that it is a cemetery and that there are people buried there. Don’t be loud, don’t **** with their graves, maybe just take a quick walk around and be like “Ooo spooky.” Hopefully they [the spirits] were tolerant of my friends and I there and if they were, I’m pretty thanful for that one.

my boyfriend and i used to sleep in our car by the side of the maltby woods,on paradise lake road, next to the mail boxes ,which lead onto the hillbilly highway.he was in the drivers seat and i was in the passenger seat, when he looked over to say something to me,and saw outside my window,a little girl of about ten,in a white dress, looking in at him making hand gestures about her eyes, nose and mouth.his scream woke me completely,we don’t know what she was saying, gesturing??,warning, but we didn’t sleep there that night.
it wasn’t our only ghostly experiences in those woods or in that area.but if you don’t believe in ghosts,a few nights in the maltby area might change your mind.

There are somethings in this world you cannot explain. So was the night my friends and I decided to check this graveyard out. The ’steps’ are real. Although we did not see any fire at the end. Other spooky things did happen tho. For instance, it started in my buddy’s car when we got there. The radio switched to an old AM station and was playing some creepy old music. Although it could just be his old car radio (‘67 Ford Galaxie 500). Also when we walking around the tombs, we all heard whispering from behind the headstones. Other than that, it seemed like a pretty typical cemetery. Oh, and we kinda got turned around a bit when we were leaving and ended up going through someones property rather than the trail we came in on. Didn’t see any ghosts there though. I still believe there may be tho.

So people keep saying that it is on ‘redmond-duvall road’. There is no such thing. I live in Duvall. HOWEVER they are getting confused with Woodinville Duvall Rd. which IS the way to go. In order to keep those confidential because of those poor owners, I won’t say anymore, but I have heard tales of this, and the only ones who say they ’saw hell’ were drunk kids. So I haven’t an idea, but I don’t doubt it’s true.
