Cemetery
This cemetery is said to have been built by a Satanic family so that they might have an eternal resting place. In the middle of the cemetery, there are thirteen steps that lead to nowhere. Called the thirteen steps to hell, it is said that once a person walks downs these stairs, they perish instantly. Others, who have barely made it out alive, have reported seeing their spirit in hell at the bottom of the steps. It is reported that one man ran across the cemetery and was scared so badly, that he was never seen again.

Wow Ray, thanks for that in depth story. That’s really crazy.
I can say though, that there is still something out there. It doesn’t matter if there are houses a stone’s throw away. i was out there a couple years and blacked out for the space of 15 minutes. I was not doing any drugs or alcohol, and it wasn’t like a blacking out, more like “missing time”. Since then i’m had terribly lucid dreams about that cemetery, being chased and attacked right when I get back to my car in the gravel turnaround.
The houses will be abandoned and gone one day, but the cemetery will still be there. The bodies will still lay in the earth, and the presence of something unexplainable will remain.

Wow, 13 Steps to Hell! What a dissapointment! Back in the summer of ‘96 some friends of mine and I went out there on a Tuesday night to try to check out all of the stories that we’d heard. Yeah, it was a dark cemetary, at night, with fog, and we even heard the “Hounds of Hell!” ( we didn’t know about the kennel at the time.) But it was just a spooky cemetary, and looking at it now, it must’ve looked like a Scooby-Doo episode. Hell, we used to see scarier stuff up on Fire Trail Road North of Smokey Point. Now there is a stretch of road to chill the bones!

I grew up in Maltby and my best friend and I went up to the cemetary on Holloween in 1982 on a dare. I haven’t been back since.
At that time there were no housing developments and very few houses around there. We both had just gotten our drivers licenses, and we took his dad’s car. We had to park on an access road just off of Paradise Lake road and walk in – pretty much everyone knew where the graveyard was at that time so it wasn’t hard to find.
We got there aroudn 11 o’clock, so it was dark, although there was a half moon, so we had some light. I’ll never forget how windy it was or how eerie it felt in that cemetary. We never saw anything, but we felt watched.
That was before the 13 steps were burried, and I dared my friend to wait until midnight, and then we would walk down them together. We had brought a bottle of rum, so we sat down and got pretty hammered, and then at midnight we went down the stairs.
When we reached the bottom, there was a door, and I openned it. As it openned, it was as though my friend dissappeared and I was alone in a room flooded with sunlight, with desks lined up from end to end, and I saw myself, an older version of me, filling in circles on a stardardized test. Years later I realized that what I was seeing was me taking the LSAT, and that I truly was seeing a vision of hell, a hell in which I became an attorney. An Attorney. WHY God? Why?
My friend saw his own version of hell that night. He is now a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
For the love of god, please stay away from this dark and terrible place. Believe me you will pay a terrible price for your hubris if you ignore this warning. Although, you will be able to understand most contracts and warranties, and buying a home will not be as daunting a task.

One night i decided to invite my friends to go to Maltby cemetery with me so word got around and pretty soon we had about 10 people going so we took 3 cars, we headed off on the freeway, it was a chilly night, clear skies full moon. We took the turn on paradise lake road past the gas station and continued down the road (there are few or no street lights at night so it was hard to see) finally we approached that opening where you can park on the side of the road and the trail to the cemetery begins, to our surprise we saw another car already parked and we knew that they were visiting the cemetery as well, so we quickly all got out and started trekking up the trail we were very quite, i was leading the group. Suddenly i stopped in the middle of the trail and gently tapped my friend and told him to tell everyone else to quietly hide in the bushes because i had spotted 4 other teens walking down the trail with nothing but their cell phones as light. We waited in silence as these guys approached us closer we made satanic growling voices, all 4 split 1 ran to the woods other ran to the house nearby and the other 2 ran so fast i couldn’t spot them, when we left their car was still parked there

I got interested in this cemetery recently and thought I would check out this website. In totaling up the posts of all you folks who claim they’ve been there, it turns out that the Maltby Cemetery has more traffic going through it than the gas station run by the scary guys down the street. Are you all lining up and taking numbers?

So, I read every post on this page and I’m not sure if the people writing about the cemetery are weirder than the cemetery itself. In any light after a few GPS coord’s put into google earth, my girlfriend and I will be heading out very soon to maltby. I can’t wait to be scared ****less. I have even contimplated a day trip to make sure i got my bearings right. I don’t want to trip and break an ankle in some whacky dude’s backyard and get busted.

Well hey all..I can definetly tell you that this place was my random playground growing up..I lived in Reintree from 1981 – 1988 and the Cemetary was very east to get too..a road right too it..Could drive there. When I got back from the service in 92 a house was built in front of it..I thought who the hell would want to live there? Anyways, I, my friends and others have all had some very freaky experiences there indeed..well worth any Paranormal research..I can tell ya some stories!..but dont feel like it hear..I can say thay yes! There were Satanic rituals preformed here..I saw one first hand..Very creep place..oh and there were steps..not really thirteen but steps that went down into the woods..and no mention of the two oddly places spike tipped metal poles..that to me was oddest of all..lol..

I heard about the creepy stories ever since I was in high school in the 70’s. I never heard anything about a “satanic person” regarding the cemetery. Maybe someone just had to throw that in there for the creepiness factor.

I went the the 13 steps to HELL. I didnt disapear or drop to me knees, see hell or Satin. BUT the thing is, as you walk down the steps, you count each step. There are 13 steps. AND as you come back up the stairs, you count your steps, there is only 12 steps coming up. I did it 4 times and each time it was the same. I wasnt drunk or high and I KNOW how to count…..so I cant explain that. But you cant try it now. There is no tresspassing signs and if you get near it, there are motion lights that kick on. The property is shared by a private owner and they have been known to shoot the air to warn you off.

I am very, very familiar with alot of the history of Maltby Cemetary. I have been there hundreds of times throughout my life. It used to be a very strange, yet beautiful piece of land & architecture.
The strangeness of this place most likely dates back further than I know. I know it “BOOMED” throughout the entire 1970’s. It is all but gone now. Very little of what I remember remains. The main cemetary was 3 tiers. A great deal was IN the woods that engulfed 2 thirds of the whole place. Above the main areas, the dirt road continued to 2 houses & a huge field. There were giant parties held there with live music sometimes….(I played there once after the houses were gone).
There used to be a dirt road enterence that veered off of Paradise Lake LN. It slowly went uphill & came to a dip in the road. Almost the same view would go by again through another dip. One or both of these dips would have a lingering fog in them that smelled like burnt hair. Day or night. After that the road went right where there was a clearing to the left about 20 yards across. There were some headstones & monuments visible there. Mostly this was second tier, moving into the third. The first tier was into the woods backtracking parallel to the road till there was the so called 13 steps. I never counted, but traversed them a few times. I was a bit creepy down there.
Beyond the hundreds of parties…it became a hangout. Which in turn invited vandalization. Which in turn ruined the place for those interested. It’s mostly houses & apartments now.
I (being sensative to these kinds of things) believe this place was haunted. But not in any bad or satanic way whatsoever. More like spirits guarding their resting place. I have had a few weird experiences there in my life.
One really stands out……..
I was riding around with a friend in his van one day about noon. We decided to go to Maltby cemetary. This is like 1975 or 76. We were just going there out of boredom. Maybe go wander around. We got to that first clearing (where most people parked). We got out & wandered. Little burnt hair clouds were all over…..some would follow us for awhile. We were only there for less than a hour & got bored. We got in th van & went to turn around. As we did, The van got stuck in mud. Within 2 minutes we had to crawl out the windows……..as the van was sinking. We had some tools & a shovel in the back. We dug & threw all kinds of debris under the tires……used 2 jacks….big chunks of concrete & fencing. Anything we could move. We got the van raised to some extent, but it was truely stuck. So my buddy walked several miles to town to try & get a tow, leaving me with the van. I wandered around bored until a cloud of about 3 or 4 feet long by 2 or less feet wide & thick started following me everywhere. if I ran or moved fast, It would dissapate & re-appear next to me again within 30 seconds. I then sat in the van for a few hours & watched the clouds surround the van & move around slowly…..at times clumping up & other times a tail like piece would come up to the window.
Eventually my buddy came back with a flatbed loading truck & the guy was able to pull us out. As we were finally leaving, someone drove up & asked if we were going to clean up our mess. We said we’d try…..we did….but the hole we produced (or sunk into) was a bit much.
It needed a couple yards of soil.
I still went back several times. As I mentioned before, once was to play at a party. I liked the place….People should have had more respect though. Many graves & headstones were brutalized.
