For the past 7 years I have lived up the street from these apartments, I have herd and seen some weird stuff… I was delivering papers there one night when I walked in the lobby and when I enterd no one was there, apoun dropping off the papers and leaving I saw a old man with a IV walking down the halls at a rather fast pace… There have been many more sightins even by some of the people that lived there that I know. However they just renovated it and I havent herd anything yet. It could bet that when they cleaned it up they put people to rest. Only time will tell…

There seems to be alot of haunted houses in Bremerton!! Years ago before my sister passed away, her and her husband were living in this house on “D” street, she had told me that years before, her husbands friend committed suicide in the dining area on Easter Sunday! I always felt a little uneasy there from the begining… I was staying there one night and woke up hearing this loud snoring, I thought it was my sister or her husband, a few seconds later my sister was in the bathroom I asked her if that was Brad snoring, she said no!! it was Willie doing this!! everytime I would stay there I would here weird things or just feel a chill! My sisters sons said that Willie would say “boo” to them and try to scare them!! LOL he was never a mean ghost, he would say things or make funny noises lol thank goodness

I used to live in the Chester Apartments, before I moved to Oregon. My mom would see an old guy going from her room into mine. My aunt seen an old guy walk out of the closed elevator doors. My mother also seen a woman with red hair and an old fashioned green dress. Hopefully, since they rebuilt the inside and everything, it will become ghostless.

Haunted hospitals are allways scared me. But what i liked to know is why is this building hauntd? I mean, ghost haunt when they’re bodies are killed or something bad happened to them when they were still living, but so many in the same time? Scary..

I used to live in the chester apt. as well back in 1996.It was vary haunted.there was one night when i was standing in my kitchen cooking something, by the way my apt front door was in my kitchen,anyway i was cooking and it was 10 pm and i heard a little child just outside my door yelling “mommy wait up” I instintly looked out the window in my door and i saw nobody there.I have several other stories about that place but probably shouldn’t take up the space.

I live in chester manner…now know as Frank Choop Place.
I was sleep one night and got up to use the bathroom. Then came back to the living room…then I went over to my bed to “fluff” my pillow,then I laid down looked over to the window and to my suprise I thought I saw a “Ghost” I rubbed my eyes, In shock… thinking I was seeing thing’s I looked again and to my shock….IT REALLY WAS A GHOST!!!???!!!
I was in such shock that I ran into my mom’s room and jumped into her bed from the door at 3am waking her up…trying to get her up so she could see the “GHOST” too!!!
But before I left my bedroom I took one last look at the “GHOST” and it was a woman I could not see her head because it was still stuck inbetween the 3rd floor and the 2nd floor.(because she was coming down from the 3rd floor she was wearing a white night gown and she was kinda a faded whatish green color!!!!

I live in Chester apts it is pretty scary I have a ghost in my apt plenty of times its a lady with blode hair wearing a white nurses outfit.That was the scariest thing I ever saw.She was going around my livingroom treating “pacients”.It would be good apts if it wasn`t haunted.

I have lived in Bremerton my hole life. Iv never lived in Chester tarries apartments but have ben there a lot! Chester tarries used to be Harrison navel hospital it was the first hospital ever in Bremerton so as you can imagine its extremely old. I believe its about six or seven storeys tall. When you enter the building it still looks just like an old hospital! Truly the only changes that were made is they turned the patent rooms in to tinny apartments!!!!! I never believed in ghosts Intel my best friend lived there. I have heard storeys about ghosts walking up and down the hallways and dispersing in to the elevators witch are to old to work by the way. I have seen things out of the corners of my eyes but I never payed attention.. my friend is a single mother of two children so I often babysat for her. things in her apartment would fall over and fly across the room for no reason but again I payed no attention. one night when I put her children to bed there was a man laying next to her daughter wearing nothing but a rob and it was only covering he’s top have!! He had no arms just bloody stumps he’s arms were on the other side of my friends daughter. I was so scared I couldn’t move, breath or blink finely my friend daughter screamed out of fright and the man disappeared. I grabbed the two kids and went to my house!! I told my friend the next day and she had admitted things like this had ben happening often but she didn’t want to tell me for fear I wouldn’t believe her. She didn’t have much money so she couldn’t just up and move. But one night a knife flew off the table and barley missed her five year old daughter’s head. Im not sure if the knife thing was a ghost are not but after that they lived with me until they could get another place to live! Often times ghosts don’t know there dead and if Chester tarries still looks like a hospital im sure these spirits think there still just simply in the hospital. Its very sad but extremely true!!!!! Most every one in Bremerton believes Chester terries is haunted even the religious people except they think its daemons. Its now ben completely ben renovated so well see what happens it should be torn down but for some reason no one can do it!!!!!!!!!!

I have never lived at the Chester apartments. My cousin however lives a few blocks away on 7th st. One late night last spring, she and her boyfriend were walking their dog down Chester. The building sits very close to the street, so when your standing on the sidewalk your eyelevel with the first floor rooms, and extremely close to them. She and her boyfriend were on the sidewalk while the dog had a potty break. My cousin glanced up and noticed the silhouette of a person standing in the darkness of the room just across the small lawn from them. She tried to focus her eyes, sure she was imagining what she was seeing. As she was standing there staring, Whatever it was started to become clearer. She realized it was coming closer to the window, as if it was totally aware of them standing there and wanted to check them out. Still in disbelief, she held her breath as it got closer then retreated back into the darkness. She grabbed her boyfriend and started pulling on the dog. As they walked toward 6th st. she turned to see whatever it was had again come close to the window. She described it as not really having any definetion, but just being darker than the darkness. I have long been fascinated by the Chester street apartments. Every Holloween my kids and I drive by it, and down the side alley. We watch the dark rooms for any sign of those, who aren’t sapposed to be there.

My sister and brother-in-law are moving to Bremerton in early 07′. I had visited the town in Oct. ,05′ for a few days. I have to admit, there are so many old wood homes, that I imagine a few must a past. I have to check out these apts. next time I’m in town. I actually may be moving there and I really like haunted buildings.(not to live in,of course) If anybody can give me some info, I’d be appreciative.

this is a real incident which happened at a friends farm.we were sitting in the front of the main door and we noticed a glowing image of a man walking near the poolside.we did not pay much attention to it.later we started hearing screams and thought somebody was drowning.we had asked a servant who was working there for a long time regarding the noises.he told us that it was a regular affair as once a watchman was totally drunk and he slipped into the well……

I have lived in the former Chester Manor, now none as the Frank Chop Place for about 5 months now. My daughter and I have seen a women in are appartment and felt the presence several times like a dogs hair would stand up on their back so would the hair on the back of my neck,then a sudden chill would go through you. there are times when my dog will sit in the middel of the room and growl at nothing and then bark and howel he would stand up and back away from whatever it was he saw.this happens quite offten. There are also noises we hear of children running up and down the halls gigeling they would run back and forth 4 times and then it would stop. You would look out the door and nothing was there.
There is a friend on the thrid floor that has a man that leans against the door to there bath room and just stares at them, and some times there is a face that comes through the wall.

Well… I like the rest of you are from Bremerton and I grew up in the 1500 block of 9th street (1 block from the Chester Manner Apts.) My friends and I used to sneak out of the house and go to the Apts. cause they had a pool table. While we there, we would do things that most kids do at that age, CAUSE MISCHIEF. We were on the very bottom floor one late night, about 1am or so, and there was this red door that was locked. It had a window, but you could’t see anything at all. Now keep in mind, we had no idea that this place was haunted. Anyways, a buddy of mine had a flashlight so we shined it through the window. THIS STLL CREEPS ME THE HELL OUT !! I saw a set of glowing eyes in the corner of the room, so I thought it was a cat, until the damn thing stood up and started floating towards the door. I FREAKED OUT!! My friends were asking me what the problem was, but I was speechless. When I got home, my grandmother was just comming home from work (she closed and gets home real late). I talked with my grandma about what I saw, and she then advised me I was looking into the old morge. She confirmed my story with some of her own about the place. Needless to say, I never went back there to cause MISCHIEF. I am very interested in ghost sightings and stories. I watch TAPS nearly every Wednesday, and wait for the opportunity to see them explore a place I have been. Now with all the re-model, Im not sure if the unknown is still there. Has anyone else had any encounters with the Chester morge?

Hi, my name is Jessica! I am what people call a paranormal psychic, which means I am able to comunicate with the dead. It isn’t something I blurt out, for I myself don’t like what I see sometimes. I am not sure why spirits are attracted to me, but they are for some odd reason. Since a very young age, I have talked and seen spirits. It still scares me to this day. I have dealt with a lot of problems dealing with spirits, way to many stories to tell! My mother can’t see them, but she can feel them. Infact she is extremely sensitive to spirits. My sister has seen a few spirits, and she feels them as well. However, it is me that the seem to be attracted to. For example… My father lost his father when he was 5 years old. He mother and father however divorced when he was 3, and his mother re-married! He lived with his mother, and wasn’t allowed to see is father, for his mother didn’t have nice things to say about him. My father was denied of even knowing his father was killed in an electrical accident when he was 5, and grew up being told his father didn’t love him or want anything to do with him. It wasn’t until he was 14 that he was told by his older brother that his father had been gone that entire time. Well, several years ago, my mother had started feeling him around our family, infact it was when I was 2 or 3 and I am now 22! Anyhow… Over the last 6 years I started seeing and hearing things. 2 years ago, I had seen and started talking to my grandfather. My father wasn’t a believer, and thought I was making things up. It wasn’t until his father, my grandfather told me things that my father hadn’t shared with me or anyone, including my own mother. I told my father, and he started believing. Things started happening when my dad was around, and it was my grandfather trying to get my father to notice and talk to him. So, of course I talked to him constantly, infact it is like he is really here, and acts and comunicates like nothing was up.
Anyhow… Everywhere I go, something is always happening to me, in which I see or talk to spirits. I have a very hard time entering old hospitals, or even hospitals in general, grave yards, it really is hard, for I see spirits everywhere. I have hard times being in old homes, for usually there is a spirit attached for some reason.

I saw a female ghost at Central Kitsap High in the staff Parking lot. It was on December 11th during a basketball game between CK and Bremerton. The fire alarm went off during the game causing everyone to evacuate the gym. We were all shuffled out of the gym into the staff parking lot. I wandered out into the lot looking for a place to use the bathroom and at this point I saw this female ghost walking between some trees on a small hill adjacent to the road that leaves the parking lot and and exits out onto Anderson Hill Road. This is the first time in my life that this has ever happened to me. I am 48 years old.

i lived at chester manor (frankchopp place) about a year ago and the place still seems to be haunted even after the remodeling. i heard wierd noises in my apartment sometimes. i had a thing with always closing my bathroom door before i went to bed, because i dont like opened doors at night, and i would almost always wake up to the door being open. i think the strangest thing i have experienced though is that early one morning i was walkin to my apartment (about 4am) and i walked around the corner and could have sworn i seen someone run down the hall right through the wall.

My wife has been doing research on this location. Our researcher for our group has been doing some calls, from what we understand it is now a low income housing. It’s harder than hell to get in there because of the laws behind low income housing, rent control, and privacy laws.

I have been by the Chester apartments and known people who have lived there and every person who has lived there has stories. However I do not think that just because they are renovating it that the hauntings will stop. It is the land they are attached to not the structure itself,they will always remain there no matter how many times you build over it. The real question is why are there so many? It just seems like there would have been some bad stuff going on in the day when it was still in operation for there to be so many people that are tormented to not leave.

People wonder why the place is haunted, well if it helps, when my uncle was staying there during some time in the 70’s or 80’s he started to get extreamly ill, forgot the diagnosis, but he went down into the basement and was found dead a while later, that could be a cause.

My girlfriend and I just got back from visiting this apartment complex, although the address Mapquest gave us for the apartments is different. Mapquest gave us 515 Chester Ave in Bremerton, and when we drove there, we could not find a 515 on Chester Ave, and instead we found a 704 Chester Ave which looked exactly like an old hospital. I also read the hospital had 56 rooms for patients, and when we looked at the floor plan, this apartment complex had 57 rooms (they possibly added a room on). We went up the elevator and walked down the stairs to the basement and then we went back up the elevator. We are going back here soon…I just wanted to know if this is the right building, although I am quite sure of myself it is. 704 Chester Ave in Bremerton, WA - the apartment complex behing Olympic College.

We went back to Chester Apartments (Now call Frank Chop Place, opened in 2005, they remodeled the place since the apartments used to be called Chestor Manor Apartments and it was run down and a bunch of drug dealers lived there at the time), located on Chester Ave in Bremerton, WA to find out if we can catch anything on video again. If you don’t know the history of these apartments, the apartment complex was used the first-ever Harrison Hospital in Bremerton, opened in 1911. Its a 4 story building with 56 rooms (now 57 rooms), an attic and a basement, and we found 2 places that were closed off to the public and were locked (those 2 being the doors to the attic which had the word “save” spray painted on the wall which it looked to be the old part of the hospital because the flooring and the stairs looked extremely OLD (we saw this because the door had a window in it you could peak through), and the other spot was the door on the other side of the apartment complex (another way to get to the attic apparently) which we found it has obscene writing on it, you’ll read about that below). The apartment rooms were old patient rooms, just imagine how many people passed away in that building and/or in the rooms people now live in!
Anyways, we recorded our 4th video exploring this chilling place (and you literally feel a prescence when you first walk into the building, I know I do everytime I walk in here). We found a door with markings on it that somebody wrote, that said, “**** you Spirits and *****. BB. 02/07/07,” which was really odd because Management had to of known of this graffiti writing since Feb 7, 2007, but they haven’t done anything about it to clean it up. About the 1 min 47 sec mark (about 3/4 of the video), when my camera was looking at a weird-shaped box on the wall:
Me: “I wonder what that is right there, that big box cut out.”
Her: “Ya”
…soon after that, you HEAR A LOUD SQUEEL SOUND AND A THUMP!
Notice, we did not HEAR this at the time we were shooting this video (if we did, trust me, we would of been FREAKING OUT) and this was not a result of my shoes because I was standing still the whole time (She can confirm this) until I started walking down the stairs, then you can hear my footsteps. Everytime I watch this part, I get the CHILLS…just to know something was there with us!
We didnt pick these sounds up until I uploaded the videos on my computer and she watched them at her house for the first time. She noticed the squeel and she called me asap to tell me! (I didn’t watch them yet because I was heating up some food in the kitchen). When she told me about this, I was like NO WAY and I had to check it out for myself. I rushed from out of the kitchen, went back on my computer, and started watching the video. About 3/4 of the way in after I said I wonder what that is right there, that big box cut out, I heard the squeel and started to freak the **** out, and my adrenilane has been rushing since then! I want to go back! We are going to go back to this very spot again soon to take more videos and pictures, hoping to get more!
We finally found something! And trust me, my adrenaline is GUSHING through my vains right now…
She even took a picture when my head was right by the door with the obscene markings and where we heard the squeel and loud thump in the video, and you can see a “perfect” white orb by me. I **** you not…

Everybody’s excellent grammar, capitalization, and punctuation really inspire me to take you all seriously. It doesn’t make you all look like the fifteen year olds that most of you are.
Now as to Chester Terrace, yes it was haunted. Whether it will continue to be now that they have completely torn down the building and re-built it remains to be seen. Possibly most will move on now that nothing exists that is familiar to them in their confused state.

This is too odd my husband at the time lived there for 6 months in 1997 never once did we come across anything paranormal.Just the roaches !The renavation must’ve brought the spirts out.
Now I was woundering if anyone can confrim a rummor I have heared for years about the basement.That there is/was a tunnel under ground that was fast access from the hospital to the shipyard?

these apartments are haunted, i was there a few months ago and if you go t the back of the building where the back entrance is there are some windows you can actually put your face up to and look into a dark room and you can actually feel the presence of a spirit right on the other side of the glass. its actually pretty cool, i dont think its very scary, but for some people it might be creepy to do that, try it if you dare!

That is so cool some one else has seen what I have seen! I lived there 2 years ago when they just opened it back up after the remoldling and I would be all by myself late at night and I swear to god there was some ones face in the window staring at me. And all day long there would be a little girl running up and down the 3rd floor (were my apartment was) I would run to the door to see if she was there but nothin. again another day I was goin to the elevator and it was open noone around but it was open so I went in and waited nothin happened so I freaked out and ran down the stair then as soon as I was on the 2nd floor the elevator door opened in front of me and the basement is so quiet so still, the elevator door is right next to the morge I would NEVER go on the elevator by myself to the basement even though they took out all the drawrs that the bodys were in its still freaky, a big dark empty cement room and one time that door to the morge was wide open with no one in it with the light on!!!! IT REALLY IS HAUNTED!!

Frank Chopp place IS haunted. But some of your stories are ridiculous and everyone can tell they’re fake.

I lived there for awhile and I would ALWAYS here kids running around the halls on my floor. But when I’d open my door, no one was there.

Chester Terrace was the cheapest place to live in Bremerton when I was growing up. It probably still is. Because of this, the majority of people who lived there were drug addicts. Tweakers and heroine addicts. Unfortunately I was friends with some of them. It was a place to get high, where no one cared what you did.
I have always heard that Chester Terrace is haunted, but I never saw anything to prove that. Not that I don’t believe it, but alot of it could be people so doped up that they hallucinated everything!
I kind of believe it, but I have never seen anything, nor have any of my friends who lived there ever said anything.

I live down the street from the Chester Apts. on 5th Street, next to the Catholic church. I believe my house is haunted by 3 ghosts. I have heard an evil sounding whisper in the basement, a normal whisper saying “mom” in the stairway leading up to my kids rooms, and my 4 year old son said that there is a little boy ghost in his playroom who has an evil face and who slapped my son on his hand. My son also said there is a bigger ghost who hangs around in his teen brother’s room. I have every reason to believe him as I don’t think he is able to fabricate a story like this on his own. Plus I know my son and I saw the fear in his eyes as he told me about this. He won’t go back in that room and we keep it closed in order to keep his mind more at ease. I have noticed that others have said that they live nearby the Chester Apartments and that they have ghost problems where they live. I wonder if this problem I am having at my house could be related to the hauntings at the Apartments?

Well bremerton isnt full of hicks, but kids that survived a meth induced pregnancy that obviously impaired grammer. But anyway. I dont believe in haunted houses (wait) because that would mean the house i grew up in would be the most haunted hot spot in bremerton. Me, my mom, cousins and friends experienced alot of scary incidents in that house, but not once did our experiences match. From someone walking behind me and seeing their shadow on the wall infront of me, but ofcourse no1 in the room with me, To poster or framed picture images turning their head in a different direction to hearing deep strained loud breathing in my closet and coat hangers going crazy, to my mom seeing people walk into rooms and them being empty and ice cold, and my friend having our basement door slam in her face when she was opening it. And there is nothing special about my house. It was built in the 30s, my parents bought it from the people who built it in the 80s and thats it. Except the fact that there are dozens of pets burried around and on the property, but ive never had an experience that seemed pet like, other than my terrier dog shaking uncontrollably when we heard the breathing in my closet. But i believe there arent ghosts, just demon intities taking form as “ghosts” to minipulate and scare us and possibly tempt us to using demonic measures to contact them like the oiji board and other sh** like that and the house im talking about is on Montgomery off 15th st. right below robs quick stop, as for chester apts..which i didnt know they changed the name to pork chop manor or whatever the hell its called…thats a dumb name. But i never had been to the apts because that was drug territory and still is for all i know. But if u want to experience something supernatural anywhere where u feel open and vulnerable will deliver that. Try the cemetary!

Does anyone know where Starvation Heights is located in Olalla? I would really like to check the place out.
I have enjoyed reading the comments here. Especially the ones about Bremertonians. lol. I was born but not at the old Hospital. Yes the town is full of rednecks but thats why we love the place. Who cares about spelling on the internet anyways, it silences voices and most lawyers and doctors I know cant spell. I cant spell and I graduated from UC Berkeley highest honors. I cant stand people who post stupid comments on the internet about spelling and grammar. Only ignorant and uneducated losers critique spelling on the internet.
I am very interested in getting a group together and going ghost hunting especially to Starvation Heights or Western State.
I have also heard that the Chester appts are haunted but then so are many places around here, especially around the military base PSNS.

The land that Starvation Heights took place in Olalla is actually a residents land, someone lives there. A group did an investigation of this place and had to get the owners permission to do it. Western State is a disappointment. They removed and cleaed up all the ruins, all thats left is two sets of stairs (see our website for pics at http://www.freewebs.com/haunted-america/) I’ve been to Chester numerous times and haven’t really experienced anything besides a loud squeek which I only caught on a video playback near the attic on the top of the stairs.

I lived in the Chester apartments in 1998-1999. I had lived on the first floor the last apartment all the way to the back, i looked out my peep hole and saw all the way to the end of hallway where the office was. Many nights I heared children laughing and running the halls after a month got use to the sound nothing bad happen at times the “children” would tap on my door and i imagine run off. After about the sixth month of being there I started feeling un easy at times and look back nothing there, i went to my very small bedroom ha ha and i heared knocking at my door it was louder then the tapping of my lil ghost kids so i got up looked out my peep hole saw only darkness so of course i thought it was my ex boyfriend Dan coming to bug me. I open the door and there was nothing but a musky dirt smell. figured someone playing a joke so went back to go to bed. I was dozing off to sleep when i heared faint screams from a woman and a man yelling, I didn’t know what it was of course i figured doestic violence so i called the cops ha ha lets just say they woke a lot of people on my floor for nothing and i’m sure the cops thought i was crazy but i swore I know I heared a couple fighting. Later I heared that a man that haunted there would go into different rooms (when he was alive) and he rapped and killed women there. now I don’t know if that story is true but I do know I heared screams and fighting. I also heared storys bout the 5th floor i only know that i felt i was being followed and i would run down the hall to the stairs and wouldn’t stop till i got to my floor. I also heared of a woman on the stairs i never saw her but felt something i do now personally that, Chester Terrace is and was haunted when i live there with more than enough ghosts to go around. I was never brave enough to go any where near the mortuary
