College Ave.

07.23.2005 | 10:04 pm | Norman, Oklahoma, United States

A pledge of the fraternity which uses this building died in 1967 in the basement, and supposedly has never left. Activities attributed to this entity include doors opening and closing, as well as lights turning on and off. People in the kitchen and basement have claimed that they have felt a presence near them.

  7. To the SAID family,

It is sad when one has to read what you put in comments regarding hauntings. If you do not believe, do not participate. To Jenna Said, you have a sick mind and need help. You all need help. Hauntings are sacred to those involved.

  10. Everyone needs to learn how to be a little more realistic. I mean the little girl that had to bring her cousin dyeing in the house and how she had to go through phyc. help…. i mean really come on that stuff only happens in movies. Oh and to “I love knitting” there are alot of people that go to graveyards at 1:00 in the morning… And “I LOVE KNITTING” HAHAHAHAHAHA that is the funniest name that i have ever heard

  11. This is very true.

One day I was sitting on the pot. I was taking a dump, like every human does. Then here comes a knock on the door. THinking it was my sister, I screamed “GO AWAY IM TAKING A DUMP”! Well, the person just slammed on the door and walked away. Later on, while still taking a dump, I heard some screaming. I thought to myself, its just my brother and sister fighting and my mom getting onto them. I finally came out, 30 minutes later. I forgot to wipe my ******** so I went back in. (Not knowing what was in my house). I wiped my butt and heard a gun shot. I dumped again on the floor, stepped in it and saw the killer. He had shot while I slipped on my poo. If it wasnt for that poo, I would be dead. Thanks poo. The killer was arrested and frightened by my fee cees.

    Comment by Emmw | 02.19.2006 | 3:11 am

  13. Where on the OU campus? I used to live on College Ave. I rented a room in a house full of people “on leave” from the local mental hospital. It was cheap and I was poor. What I didn’t know is that one of these dudes had raped the neighbors 9 year old daughter and then been beaten to death in my closet by her father. You could see that the lock to my room had been recently changed and the carpeting in the closet was new. I never noticed anything abnormal, but my usually tame cat used to freak out. The guy who told me about the rape lived in the basement and used to go yell at the lightning during thunderstorms, so I don’t know what to believe.

  14. It seems at every University campus, there exists some story! It speaks to the psychology of the experience. Many College students are away from their parents for the first time in their lives. The inclusion of Fraternity or Sorority pledges, brings in the further fear of THAT particular Experience. As a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, I can state with some experience that this is a made up story to scare the Freshmen!!! It is embellished every year to horrifying heights, and told, usually, by upperclassmen to the incoming female freshmen.

  16. I would like to know where on that road as well and why all the other haunts there arent said. There r native american ghosts by the railroad track by lindsey and classian road. They have been heard for years having a pow-wow. Its just so close to campus most think its just drunk collage kids….but not much is by the track for that to be…

  17. I not sure on the name of the house, but they hold a haunted house there every year. I am also not sure if it is true or not since the only time that I have been in the building on Halloween when they had the Haunted House so it was set up with props, and there were a lot of people there.

  21. This website is interesting as well as the comments. For those that don’t like this site nor believe in hauntings the solution is simple, dont visit it; and for those who make “poke” fun at it ” , “He who laughs first laughs last”.
I dont take “Hauntings” lightly and know that anything is possible in life. I have had unusal experiences that cannot be explained and others dont understand and “who cares?”; what is important is that “I” know it happened. Other peoples opinions dont matter so if you have something that has sent “chills” up yr spine and cant be defined as human it probably wasnt………

  26. Hello, I have recently encountered something of the “paranormal”. Yesterday, I found a see-through woman eating a see-through sandwich. It was the most horrifying experience of my life. After the clear woman saw me staring at her, she let out a ghostly wail! She grew razor-sharp teeth and lunged at me, so I grabbed my holy cross and smashed her in her see-throgh face, I screamed “the power of Christ compails you!!” she disappeared without a trace. For I know that humans can be see-through, and can vanish into thin air, because scientific law allows this to happen. This is why I was so frightened. yours truly, Brainspew “the believer”

  27. Have you heard about the old “700 Elm” haunting in Norman in the early 70’s?

    http://rogerscountyisokay.com/700%20Elm/Norman_ghosts.htm

    Comment by John | 03.11.2007 | 11:27 pm

  28. This is most likely about the Alpha Phi house, which served as the Phi Mu house for the past several years. The Ghosts name is assumed to be Sarah, and many girls who have lived in the house have claimed to have seen/heard her between 11 PM and 2 AM. As norman lore goes, she was killed in an accident during one break, but had significant problems with her family and frequently called the Alpha Phi house her one true home.

  30. 700 Elm Ave … I believe it’s currently the Jim Thorp Multicultural Center. If the rumor was true and if my memory serves me correctly, it used to be a sorority house until some incident happened. Many student organizations have used it for their events and/or activities. I have been in the building several times for various events. Personally, I have never encountered any “supernatural” or “paranormal” events, but the place has always given me an uneasy feeling.

  31. The place is apparently the Kappa Sigma house at OU campus. Some of the guys live in the basement of the house and say that there is a eery feeling of someone watching you down there or sometimes they hear another voice when its just them in the room.

  33. I don’t think the Alpha Phi house is the one referred to in this but I know that it also has a reputation for being haunted. For the past two years the house has been unoccupied but sometimes when you went by the house at night, random lights on the second floor would mysteriously just turn on and off. The Alpha Phi sorority has moved back into the house so it’s unlikely anyone would be able to observe this now.

  40. I think they’re getting different stories mixed up. I read in this book about Oklahoma called Strange State that there was a boy who was killed in the basement of the cate center at ou and that fraternity house had tombstones in the basement and was supposed to be haunted too.

    Comment by John | 01.6.2008 | 9:16 am

  41. Yeah, I bought that book at Hastings. It has like 3 pages just about this one story alone. Apparently some psychic went there in 1973 and determined that there were a bunch of angry spirits in the basement and one little girl on the 2nd floor who died in 1938.
