Cry Baby Woods
Way on back in the 1800’s a young women was running away from slave hunters. She had her young baby with her. The baby kept crying and she drowned the baby in a creek so he wouldn’t give her away. Today if you go back into the woods at night you can hear and sometimes see the little baby crying and looking for his mother.

I was just talking with my husband last nite about Cry Baby Bridge… He has told me the story probably ten times but I love hearing it again. He and a couple of his friends went there one night 2 stayed in the car and the other 2 went on to the bridge.. They said that the stood there for a couple minutes and then something started to travel through the weeds below. So they then started to run for the car but he said it was like the bridge just kept extending and they just kept running and running until all the sudden ran into the car. The 2 in the car didnt even see them running for the car one minute they were on the bridge the next they were at the car. I have tried to get him to take me back there but he says there is no way he will go back there again… Just be careful in your adventures where ever you go!!!

this is to the obviously ignorant people who either didnt take history in school or are just still so stuck in their white privilaged ways that they don’t know what they are talking about. Um, idiots, MANY children of slaves were sufficated or drowned because their crying would give away many of the other slaves who were escaping from the white slave owners ropes! judge not the woman for what she did, just your ancestors for what they did, that baby’s blood is on YOUR ******* hands.

So where exactly is this bridge? I made up a story almost exactly like the one here. I plan on taking some friends there and scaring the **** out of them. I planed on having about 3 or 4 of my guy friends waiting for us under the bridge and scaring all of the girls that I’m taking. If there’s a real bridge i would love to know where it is. Maybe I can scare some of the guys waiting under the bridge too!!! My e-mail is airforcedud607@insightbb.com

I guess many Small Indiana towns have a cry baby “Spot” or 2. I grew up in a small IN. town that its nick name was “Tree City”I lived in a house that sat next to a Cemetary, on a dead end road, as young pre teens and teenagers
we often “played” in the cemetary after dark scaring our friends as well as ourselfs , but we never actualy saw anything. But it was rumored that in a quary just behind this cemetary a baby or small child had drowned and that late at night you could hear the crying when it was real quite..I never believed this, even though my mother swore she had heard it before… until I was about 18….. then One summer night my mother and I were home alone, it was a hot summer night and we had all the windows open, it was late and very quite, we had been asleep on the couch and day bed in the living room we got up went to the bathroom and had returned to living room, and was totaly awake sitting up smoking a cigarette…I heard what at first I thought to be a cat, she said see there it is I told you….this crying sound continued for several minutes finally fading away…niether of us was particularly scared but we often wondered just “What” was crying. Although I spent many a more night in that house before my parents passed away, winter, spring, fall and hot summer nights with windows open I never heard it again. And my mother never mentioned hearing it again after that. my children claimed to have heard it one time when they slept on the same day bed I had been laying on years earlier when I heard it…Funny thing is my husband and I had made a pact to never scare our kids like that with the ghost stories while they were so young…So they had never heard me talk about it , or my mother she knew of our wishes about the stories, so when they told me what they heard I am sure they had no pre concieved intention of hearing anything and heard it with out bias. Some say this baby crying noise is a cat in heat or a wild cat of some sort…I have had cats all my life, and I am a mother of 2, I know what a cat sounds like and I know what a baby sounds like…what I heard wasn’t no cat…..

I really don’t understand people. If she had not of killed her baby then both she AND her baby would have been found……and guess what ……those people would have killed the baby and her. Either way the baby was going to kick the bucket….GET OVER IT!!!

The title is actually “Cry Baby Bridge” a few friends and i went there and we actually wrecked on the bridge. While waiting for the cops and ambulance, we heard crying and saw a light coming from the trees in the distance. Needless to say, we haven’t been back there. And the location is around Anderson. There is an old Farm house on the hill overlooking the area surrounded by trees. Have fun if you visit it!

This is a sad story what is even sader is people want to blame the young woman for her actions. My belief is she was young and very scared. She knew if she was caught she would die or even worse LIVE in a horrable world as it was at that time for blacks. Can you imagine her PAIN as she did the dreadfuf deed? This was her child her flesh and blood! Come on people give this poor soul a chance cant you feel her pain knowing that even as she kills her child she is giving it a better place than it would have been?
