That’s true me and my mom were driving over that bridge and we heard a baby crying so we stoped and looked around and couldn’t find anything, and right before we got back in the car it stoped. Then my mom called the cops and they said that, that the bridge was haunted and they have many calls about the same thing.

There is a cry baby bridge where I live. It is said that if you park your car on the bridge, shut it off, get out, put the keys on the hood, and scream i killed your baby, your doors will lock, and you shall hear a baby crying. It is said that if you try to get in your car you can`t cause your doors are locked. It is also said that your car will not start eaither. If you look around it is said that you can see baby footprints and handprints on your car, and you shall see the mother reapeating the murder of her child. I believe this is true because my friends and I have tried it severl times and it worked. BUT if you MISS ONE step it shall fall.

You guys are all goofy. There is a crybaby bridge in every county in Ohio, and I am quite sure none of them are real. How sick to seek out the ghost of a deceased baby anyway.

The legend in Oklahoma is that a mother and her baby were going to work on a rainy day and the bridge collapsed. The mom was dead and they found the baby’s carseat and traces of blood but never found the baby. Another is that a mother threw her baby off the side of the bridge then killed herself and you can go out there on certain nights and throw a rock off the side of the bridge and it will be thrown back at you and at the mother will appear and ask you where her baby is.

I’m 26 years old and have lived in the dayton area my whole life. There
has always been a “crybaby bridge” on Fudge rd. in Preble county. I’ve heard lots of different stories, But all I know is what i’ve encountered.
One day my mother, my little sister and my moms late best friend were out for a country drive , while the whole time telling my sister the stories about it freaking her out. well when we finally reached the bridge we got out to read the sign on the bridge, before we could finish a large truck rolled up on us and a mean scary lady with a gun and told us to get out of there now. Well come to find out this lady owned every house on the street (a very long street) was known to be crazy.Live in several houses and spy on anyone renting her others. She is said to be the long lost relative waiting for the babys father to come back to claim his illigitimate ******* childs spirit. The mother of the baby supposedly killed herself and the baby because she was the poor trash of the town , a prestigious townsmen had an affair with her ,bore her a child and the town cast her out she and the baby wandered the outskirts of town on that road waiting for help or rescue but no one came . One night out of starvation and not being able bear the childs suffering she threw the baby over the bridge in the winter and it froze to death or drowned. The mother then jumped. Legend has it you can hear the baby cry on that very night it happened.

I live in Highland County outside of Hillsboro and we too have a cry baby bridge. I believe in ghost but never the story of the bridge b/c there are so many. All I know is what I have seen and felt. I have seen the ghost of the “mother.” She never locked my car doors and I have never hear the baby cry. I didnt believe this myself untill I seen it. She was sitting on a large rock in the middle of the creek just staring at the water. I have never felf fearfull of her but almost upset with her. I dont know if she is the ghost from the story or just an apperition but I know what I saw.

First of all, forgive me my bad english.
May I ask? Why in the name of Väinämöinen and the love of God these things are always supposed to happend around midnight?! Like, thouse ghost do not have any clocks or what so ever, with them?! I dare say, I belive in ghosts, but COME ON! In midnight! Of course there may be some individuals wich appear themselves in the darkest midnight, but in the cases where I have been here in Finland, the ghosts have not been looking at the time. They come and spook the hell out of me when ever the get their chanse.
And about cry baby bridges.. I have not had the pleasure of hearing the cry of a baby, neither seeing a woman who seeks for her child. Even so, I must congratulate Erin Bumgarner (My appoligez if I spelt Your name incorretly) who, with a true story or false, gave me so called paskahalvaus. You can look it up from a dictionary if you want. I have never been keen to characters which, dead or not, appears from somewhere asking for something. I have myself met one character, who appeard first in my dream and said in the strange hallway “You are not welcome in here”(in finnish, of course). Following day me and my parents went to look our new home. And there was the strange hallway. Same night I heard the cold whisper “I told you, I donät want you here.”, and then the girl/woman stepped in front of me, looking straigth in to my eyes. It continued for several nights, a month I think, when finally I had enouch courage to say to her “Go Away. this is my home no!” She vanished, but not for good. My cousin and few of my friends saw her too few dayds later, but she didn’t bother me any more.

my mom has told me that same story about the cry baby bridge and i have always wanted to see it. my mom told me that when she went with her best freind they saw the mother and the little baby crying at the bottom of the bridge. my mom also said that her and jer friend looked down at the water they saw the babies corpse floating in the water. i do believe her and do believe in ghosts though i have never had an encounter that i know of.

Okay i grew up in Shelby Ohio, and we have this stupid thing called crying bridge, i’m not sure what road it is, but its out in the country on the way to Ashland, and supposedly you can hear a baby crying at midnight, i’ve known people who have tried it. I think its all a bunch of lies, supposedly this amish family was going over the bridge and the baby’s carriage fell out and it drowned. There are stories like this in like every state probably. So those of you who actually go out searching for a baby to cry at midnight on a bridge, obviously has no life.

Ok seriously, if you had a baby and there was some kind of accident that caused your baby to die on a bridge and people went around making up stories that you killed your baby would you still want to belive all of the stuff that is on here? Goast’s I believe are real, but nobody likes to hear about a baby’s. People really should try to come up with something better and more original. A baby goast storie is sad not scary. Come on now people.

Did any of you ever consider that the reason that some people hear/see things and others do not is due to the sensitivity of the person? THere are hard-hearted, skeptical ******** who are in it for the thrills and there are people who can genuinely feel emotion and are open-minded. It is the open-minded people that are more likely to have an experience.

People, I have lived in Sidney all my life. There is no cry baby bridge. To set the record straight, Bridgeview Middle School. (no longer standing) was not haunted eather. It had tunnels under it that were used as a fall out shelter incase a nuclear war broke out. (yeah like that will help.) Julia Lamb field. (still in use.) was a cemetary at one time and the graves were moved to another cemetary. Graceland I think. Some of the caskets had glass lids. And yes, some of the people had been burried alive.(comas)
You can actually go to the Shelby County Historical Society web site and look up alot of this stuff. I don’t know for a fact that any of the other buildings or places here in Sidney are haunted, but I wouldn’t go digging around the south end of town ghosts. You never know what you may bring home.

One day she decides that she doesn’t want childern. So she takes her childern to lake and she drowned them. So Every night she’d cry looking for her childern. They say that if your not good to your parents that she wil come and visit you. I live in Miamisburg,Ohio. There is the first Crybaby Bridge on Fudge RD. My 97 year old grandmother…about 25 years ago…saw for the first time in the newspaper, the story of Crybaby Bridge. She is still alive today and everything that she says and every story that she tells I belive beucase she has proof. She showed me a newspaper clipping of what happend on Crybaby Bridge…Its real guys. The REAL story is that, on April 18, 1981 a woman was running from her abusive husband and came across this bridge with a long winding road that led to nowhere. Then she had got cought by her husband. The man said that if she didnt come back with him then he would kill the baby becuase the mother was worthless and the baby would turn out to me the same way. The women pleeded for her life and he didnt care. This horabule man dangled the baby over the bridge till all the blood flowed to her head and she died. The baby was 4 days old.Her name was Elizabeth McNight. The man had ran with the women and dead baby down this winding road and weeks later was found in the corn fields. The man had died of starvation, beucase it is told that you go far enough into the road you wont be able to turn back and find your way out. So when the police had heared from the family that there daughter and granduaghter was missing then the police went for a search..of course was never found. Now everything thing els that you have heared are just storys from other places, so they can get attention. I have a copy of the newspaper clip that I have scanned and put on my website, and to prove to all of you, please come and check it out…….thanks

Ok there is like a cry baby bridge in every country!I’ve heard so many diffrent versions of the story its slowly becoming idiotic to listen to people claim they seen it.Now take into consideration that its impossible for all these “historical events” im appauled to say happened all over the united states. There can only be one true version to this story and I bet 9 times out of 10 that this never occoured in Ohio but in the main Settle lands such as Maryland,Maine,Etc….as you call them the 13 original Colonies.

There is a “crybaby bridge” in every county in Ohio. They are all urban legends made up by bored kids. None of these locations are haunted. How many of these stupid stories have you heard? Flash your lights 3 times… honk your horn 3 times… pick up the ghost hitchhiker…. listen to the baby cry… watch for the guy looking for his missing head…blah blah blah. They are ALL just urban legends. Nothing to them.

“Cry Baby Bridge Lima, OH

Hello, there

My name is Fred, and I just wanted to share an experience that has kinda haunted me for years. You see, I used to live in Lima, OH, which as you know is the location of one of the many bridges in this nation labled Cry Baby Bridge. I used to think that Lima was unique in that one aspect, but tonight, almost ten years after my experience, I find myself sitting at my computer looking up all I can to learn the real legend behind that road, only to find that Lima, OH isn’t the only place with a Cry Baby Bridge. I’ve already found reference to two different ones, besides Lima, in Ohio alone. That isn’t even counting all the others spread across the country. Well, I can’t vouch for the others, but the one in Lima truly exists, and isn’t just a legend. I wish to share my account of what happened to me nearly ten years ago on that road, plus some of the other stories I’ve heard about the surrounding area.

First of all, I can’t really remember what year it was, only that I was between the ages of fifteen and seventeen and I’m currently twenty six. This would place it right around ten years ago, but my memory of the evening is still vivid in my memory; including the feelings surrou ing my experience.

I grew up in Lima, OH, and heard stories all my life about supernatural occurances on Greely Chapel Rd. The road, by all accounts, seemed to be a sort of lightning rod for ghostly presences, and its appearance certainly lends credence to such claims. One night my friends and I decided to check out what everyone refered to as Cry Baby Bridge. We all piled into a friend’s truck and headed out for the road.

As I said above, the road has many stories surrounding it. I can’t personally validate all of the stories, but I would like to share them all anyway. Before we set out that night, we got to talking about the road. Someone mentioned a house that you pass right as you turn onto the road. Apparently this house had been abandoned for nearly a decade, the power had been shut off long ago, but the porch light was always on. When we passed this house, sure enough the porch light was on, but none of us had the courage to go and find out if it was deserted. Another piece of superstitious nonsense that we talked about was the classic story of the headless motorcyclist. You know, the story about the motorcyclist who wrecked his bike and was decapitated on a stop sign, and, supposedly, if you shine your breaklights on the stop sign you’ll see a ghostly image of his blood pouring down from it. Once again, not validated by me, so we’ll move on to what I DID experience.

There’s a story of a truck, a BIG truck, with lights all around it that prowls the road. This truck is not natural by any means. I’m not sure about its backstory, but supposedly, if you drive down Greely Chapel Rd. with any intention other that getting from point A to point B, this truck will try to run you off the road. There’s also a story of a man in a farm house who commited suicide by shooting himself under the chin with a shotgun. The man in the story s described as having a long, white beard and wearing denim overalls. Finally was the story about the bridge itself. The actual bridge, it was said, is not actually on Greely Chapel Rd., but the stream that the original bridge crossed over intersects with it. If you drive over this bridge at night (doesn’t matter what time, trust me), there is a board on it that creaks and sounds exactly like a baby crying. The actual bridge is way back in the woods located at the end of the road and can only be reached by foot. It was said that a cabin stood back there in the 1800’s, and that a woman lived there by herself. She had a child shortly after her husband had been killed and was forced to raise the baby alone. One night the baby’s crying became too much for her to handle so she drowned it in the stream outside of her cabin. She then went back into the cabin and killed herself. You better watch yourself if you try to travel back there, however, since the story also tells of the man with the shotgun in the overalls chasing away anybody who tries to make the trek.

Now for the actual account of what happened that night some ten odd years ago.

We piled into a friend’s truck and headed for Greely Chapel Rd. As soon as we saw the beat up white picket fence that marks the entrance to the road, I felt a chill run the length of my spine and the hairs stand up on the back of my neck (I can’t look at white picket fences without getting that feeling to this day). We traveled the length of the road to the point where the stream intersects with it and turned off the radio. Just to increase the silence so we could hear better, we pulled up to the bridge and put the truck in neutral to let it roll over the bridge and rolled down the windows. Sure enough, we heard the sound of a baby crying as it ran over a certain board. I’m certain that it was just the creak of the board that made this ound, but the resemblance to a baby’s cry was too unmistakeable to dismiss. My friend, the one who owned the truck we were in, suggested that we go to the end of the road and travel back into the woods to find the actual location where it was said the woman drowned her baby. When we got to where the road curves off into a different direction, we got out of the truck. I immediately noticed an extremely run down barn right by the entrance to the woods. I could have turned and run right there, but I didn’t really feel like doing so on this particular road while my friends kept on going, so I went with them. We didn’t even get into the woods when we heard a gunshot coming from the barn. We turned to look and a man with a white beard wearing overalls came charging from the barn with a shotgun. We hopped in the truck and headed back in the direction we came from. We thought we were alright and that it was all over. However, when we started nearing the beginning of the road, I and my other friend in the seat beside me noticed that there was a really bright light coming from behind us that kept getting brighter. When we turned to look there was a huge truck directly behind us, almost touching our rear bumper. The lights on the truck were so bright we couldn’t even see inside of it, despite how close it was. And the size of this truck was amazing. It dwarfed the one we were in. As our driver accelerated, so did the truck behind us. It might have run us off the road if we had had to stay on it for very much longer. As we neared the entrance to the road we looked back and the truck was just gone. Now, I would have thought nothing of this if it weren’t for the fact that there were NO places that it could have turned off to between where I had last looked at it and when it suddenly disappeared. It just vanished. Adrenaline pumping, we went back to my friend’s house in silence. None of us have spoken of he incident since then, but if I’m still freaked out about it after ten years then I know they both still are.

I don’t know how much this helps you in verifying your information about the road. Nor do I even know if anybody will read this whole thing, after all, it has been rather long winded. All I know is that I feel a hell of a lot better finally telling this story to somebody who will hopefully believe me and not roll their eyes. If you’re ever in Lima, OH, look the bridge up, just don’t linger there too long. For all I know, it could have been our collective imaginations running wild. The guy in the overalls could have been just a local hick farmer trying to run trespassers off his land. The truck could have been him trying to make sure we didn’t come back. There could have even been a side road or trail I failed to notice that he turned onto when he saw that we were leaving. The more I think about it, though, the more vividly it all comes back to me, and I don’t think any of that was the case. When I was there, I got a clear sense in the back of my mind that I was desecrating something unholy just by being there. I believe that what I experienced that night was real.”

There is more than one Crybaby Bridge in Ohio. Manny tales tell of a mother and her baby and at least one of them dying. A bridge near me was supposedly the site of a mother who could not care for her baby therefore through it over the bridge. The guilt was too much and she through herself over the bridge as well. When you drive up not only do you hear the gurgling cries of the baby…but, as you drive away your back windows are supposed to posses dirty babies feet and hand prints. It’s true…and the babies handprints are hard to get off.

Another area where I live has a bridge that a young girl threw herself over because her boyfriend was killed in a car accident. You can see her under the bridge looking up as she calls very slowly. “Derek…” Her lovers name apparently…

There is a cry-baby bridge in EVERY county in Ohio. I tried to tell my room-mate that when I moved to college, and she said they had one in their town also, which was in southern Ohio.

I live in Marion Ohio. There is 2 crybaby bridges hear. There is the original 1 and the new 1. They are in two totally different places. The new 1 should not be called crybaby bridge because nothing happens there. The old 1 is very scary you go when its dark out flash your head lights twice shut your car off, and you will hear the crys of a baby. The screaming of the mother. The storie is the mother and her baby were on there way home. It was very foggie out and she drove off the bridge….

Yeah I Dont Know… On my Birthday We went to this Bridge In Williams county… The Lockport Bridge…Its a covered bridge kinda freaky looking. Its on a T road where you can only turn left or right because straight across is a cemetary! They say after midnight you stop your car roll down the windows flash your lights at the cemetary three times and be quiet and you can hear a baby cry….like some of the other stories a distressed woman couldnt get her baby to stop crying so she threw it off the bridge and it died…well we didnt hear anything but it was right at dusk and its wasnt very scary either! When I turn 16 in a couple of months me and my friends are gonna try it again! who cares If you dont believe in it Its All Fun And maybe if were lucky we might hear SOMETHING!…………..
Another story with a different outcome…Same Bridge,The Lockport Bridge, My sister and her friends went down there at 3 am …you know what 3 am is if you’ve seen “the exsorcism of emily rose”…and stopped the car rolled down the windows flashed the lights 3 times became silent and like me they didnt hear anything! They all thought this was halarious rolled back up the windows and went to start the car and then it gets scary… they couldnt get the car to start and they heard scratching sounds on the bottom of the car… This Is a honest story! They freaked out and paniced… they Finally got the car to start after about 5 mins. and drove of… everyone was relieved but still scared of what just happend… another scary thing about the bridge is its by woods and the road we take to get home you have to go through them and at 3 at night its not too plesent. at everystop sign they would hear the scratching again and it wasnt like a sound the the car was making this was like animal scatching…when they got home they were a bit afraid to run up to the house because its kinda a long walk from the barn that they park in…and right before they got out the scratching started! They ran as fast as they could and got to the house unfortunatly the house they were staying in my sister’s friend Mandie*’s house is super haunted I’ve stayed there and have had stuff happend to me that were unexplainable and almost every night something freaky happends…and this night wasnt any different than any other night it was snowy out and my sister had just fallen asleep but then she woke up around 4:15am it was still dark out and she was faceing a window and she saw someone standing at the window and then it walked away after about 30 seconds of her staring at it… she thought her eyes were playing tricks on her but the next morning there was footprints from the barn where the car was parked to the window and then out to the feild by mandie’s* house and it wasnt her parents because they hadn’t been outside plus there would have been tracks form the door to the barn then to the window and back up to the door but theses tracks disapeared into the feild…?…talk about a SCARY NIGHT!!!

this bridge is not real…it’s inspired by a bridge outside of st. marys ohio called Bloody Bridge where the story says a woman was dating a guy she liked and went on the bridge that night and another guy that liked her and came and chopped off her date’s head out of jealousy and she was so scared she screamed and fell into the water where she died which is also bullshit because her body is buried somewhere in Putnam County. a lot of people were always afraid to go on that bridge because it was so rickety and falling apart so it was closed off, but later repaired and is now open to ride on. some people here in celina have sworn if you stand on the bridge at night and are really quiet, you can see blood appear on the bridge from the head, hear her scream and a splash in the water. i have stood on this bridge a million times and its never happened and ive lived here all my life, but its still fun to read the story. its also believed she was pregnant when she fell in the water and died! u people if believe this story need to get a life and if u dont believe me about Bloody Bridge in St. Marys, Ohio, look it up for urself or come see or US ST ROUTE 66. u all still need to get a life if u believe about crybaby bridge-it’s stupid!

Actually i know its true but i dont no how theres one in every other state. i live in ohio and i live by a hill called Dog Hill and theres a bridge at the bottom of Dog hill i go sledding there every winter. on holloween there is plenty mystery on the hill it is said the reason its called dog hill is because after the baby and mother died dogs searched under the bridge and on the hill and every dog dissapeared so men on horses also guard the bridge and hill on holloween night. if you drive your car across at exactly midnight your radio will shut off and come on as a baby crying and figures will fog up your windows
its very true if you live in ohio around dog hill i suggest you stay away from it…

My granda told me to pick where i wanted to sleep and i picked the t.v. room because it is the most comfortable place in the house. So i went to bed and at about 11 o clock i woke up. I looked at my side and thier was a munchkin about 4foot and he said hi my names jacky with a smile then dissapeard. Woke up the next morning and told me grandma the story. While i was telling the story we heard a big thump up stairs like something broke. We went up stairs and a glass picture broken surrounding the face a little man with a big smile. My grandma told me that was my uncle jack and he was a funny trickster. I told my grandma that was the man and we bolth sorta laughed.

My sister went to one, in Ohio, not too far away. and she took 2 other friends including her boyfriend, whom is now her husband. and they left there keys in the car on the seat, it was a while ago, and it wasn’t exactly a top of the notch car, lol, so they figured what the heck. Anyway, they walked around for a while, then they heard the baby crying. My sister flipped out and ran back to the car, it was locked, and running and the keys were still on the seat. and there were footprints on the car. they had to call a locksmith, who vouges for this whole story, to come out and unlock her car, and bring gas, because it had ran out of gas. But she swears to never go back, and tells everyone not to go there.

All I have to say is some of you really need to grow up. There are supernatural things in this world and they happen everyday. As for cry baby bridge.. I have heard about soo many different ones. I believe there is one somewhere that is real, only because all urban legends come from fokelore which is based from a true story. just because you dont believe or have never experienced something befor dosnt mean it isnt real. There are some of you on here that just need to grow up.

I live in Rock Hill, SC. An English teacher at my high school is a specialist on the haunted places in our area. She’s done research on them all, from Tillman Hall to Crybaby Bridge. She said that a mother and her baby were in the car, and they were in a car accident on the bridge in the middle of the night. Rescuers were able to remove the mother from the car, but the car was sinking deeper into the water, and they were unable to save the baby. The mother, officials, and bystanders listened as the baby cried for another minute, then the last wail as he died. According to my teacher, if you park on the bridge in the middle of the night, you can sometimes hear the baby crying again. My teacher’s heard the baby multiple times, she’s taken other teachers and friends of hers, some other students have gone, and no one who’s gone has denied hearing the baby’s cry.

Hey you guy’s wanna hear a real story about a dead baby??? I went to Centerville High School and like 7 years ago there was a girl in the band you got knocked up and hid it from every one. Then one day during school she had the baby in the girls bathroom in the band hallway. She tied her sweatshirt around the baby to choke it and threw it in the trash and by the time some one realized what had happend the baby was dead. Now if you go in the bathroom and your really quite you can hear the baby choking and trying to breath. Trust me i heard it one night after practice was over i had to pee on my way out to my moms car my freshman year and i never went back in that bathroom ever agian!

i had an expreience like this about 45 minutes outside of NOrth Richland HIlls, TX. we went out to a bridge that we heard was supposably haunted, and its about a mile or two back in the woods sort of in the middle of no where. we went out on the little wooden bridge, and before enterin its said “enter at your own risk, capacity;1,000 lbs.” so we sat on the bridge, pulled the keys out of the ingnision, and try to start the car but it would not start, and the doors would not open. after a couple minutes the car re-started. so we tryed to leave, but geting lost in the woods we got trapped in a dead end where the cemetery was where supposably the babies who died were burried along with the mother. and then our car shook and we heard a loud “BOOM”. we finally got out of the area and drove home. as we pulled in our drive way we got out of the car and notice baby foot prints and hands on the windows, windshield, trunk, and all over the car. it was weird. i was confused to believe if it was true or not. but i guess it reallyy is.

The story I heard was that a mother and her baby were dirving during a storm and didnt realize the bridge was out. The car went over the side killing them both. Now you can hear a baby cry whenever ut rains. There’s a true half way post there where spirits pass between this world and the next….none of this fake stuff…you seriously do have to be careful though because being the real deal if they become aware of you they can make an attempt to evict your spirit from your body meaning they can step into your body and have another shot at a life. Trust me, this world is more appealling than the next, so be careful.

I beleive a lot of what u all r sayin. But someone did bring up a very good point.what r the odds of say 100 mothers all killin their babies by throwing them off a bridge? I think a lot of the crybaby bridges r fake, not all but some. There r just to many to b real. Where i live in Hancock co. we supposedly have one out by the resivor. I ‘ve been there many times & nothing has happened. There’s also another bridge out there where a motorcycle cop was beheaded by a piece of wire someone strung across the road. The stories the same ,stop on bridge ,flash lights see ghost. I never have & I’ve done it many times. I think people make up stories just to scare each other. Not that I don’t believe n ghost I lived with one for years as a teen. She was quite friendly too. I’m just sayin you can’t believe everything you hear. Good luck ghost hunting tho.

There are 19 cry baby bridge stories in Ohio alone.
These stories are simply not true. Bridges themselves have are eerie moans and creeks and a definite scare factor to them. That’s what makes them so wide spread a topic to tell stories about.
What more to wrench your sympathy than the death of a baby and a poor lonely mother?
These all play factors in fear and the ability to evoke some kind of experience from your sub-conscious.

I’ve never heard anything! In between Massillon & Wooster! Was said that a couple were in a heated arguement. Their baby was in the back seat crying, because they woke it up. The father was already mad & couldn’t handle the baby crying. It was 12:00 midnight. He pulled over on a bridge. With the mother still nagging & the baby still crying, he went mad. He got out of the car, put his key’s on the hood, went to the other side, took the baby out & threw it over the bridge. The mother went in to save the baby (which was already drown)crying & yelling for help. The father already being in a state of madness, got back into the car, locked the door’s, but did not start the car. Hearing the crying & yelling (felt guilty & came back to reality), got out of the car,put the key’s on the hood, & jumped over the bridge to save his child & the mother. Did he die? No one knew, but soul’s never die. That was the story! But, I never heard a thing! 4 Real

I have lived in or around the Dayton area since I was born. The only place that I’ve read about Crybaby Bridge is here on the internet. I’ve never heard stories, nor have I been to the bridge. This website specifically says that this particular bridge is in Sidney, OH, while all of you are talking about Dayton, Chillicothe, and what have you.

As for Amber up there at the top, I’ve driven over the Mad River a number of times and there is more than one bridge. Not once has my car stopped, nor have I heard the cry of a baby. I’ve never even caught a scary vibe from the place.

I guess that goes to show you, the only time you find a place scary is after you hear the false stories that others tell. Otherwise, it’s just another place.

I don’t believe in crybaby bridges, merely because of the sheer quantity of them. I do, however, believe in the tale surrounding a set of railroad tracks in Miami County. In the late sixties a bus full of elementry school kids stalled out on the tracks and was promptly hit by a train. Legend states that if you put your car in nuetral overtop the tracks, get out, and sprinkle flour, baby powder, or cocaine…you know…something powdery…on the trunk and rear bumper then walk away for a few minutes, when you come back, your car will be safely off the tracks, and there are little hand prints all in the powder. The spirits of the kids are still there, making sure no one else dies that way. I’ve been on a drunken expedition to try this out for myself, and believe me; it works. It shocked me out of my drunkenness, actually. Then I cried the whole way home cuz I was so sad about those poor kids.

Okay look people, it’s all in your heads! I went with my Dad and his girlfriend to a so-called Cry Baby Bridge. There was stuff written all over your bridge saying, “We killed your baby” and “Drown baby Drown!” My dad tried to scare me and told me to get out of the car with him… of course I did. Then he told me to be as quiet as I could and listen for the baby (it WAS midnight) and his girlfriend made noises like a baby to scare me. It is all in your head, you’re scaring yourself into thinking it’s actually happening.

Why have something as ludacris as CRY BABY BRIDGE. Every state has some stupid hyped up tale that involves people throwing babys off bridges or diving out of cars or burning buildings under bridges and My mother told me so .. its gotta be true. Once again another website suited to the story telling part of hauntings rather than the facts of hauntings.

Woodland Cemetary <– haunted in Dayton Ohio
WPAFB <— haunted in Dayton Ohio
San Rae Apts .. 2836 <– haunted in Kettering Ohio

So who ever is dedicating there time to bullcrap atleast give some real places that are recognized as haunted locations per state and give a little true mystery to the afterlife. Not 100% ****

For all the people that say these stories are bogus just because of the high amount you must also remember that there are twice as many bridges as stories and I’m sure that there has been more than one suicide that involved jumping off of a bridge since the beginning of time. And to say that there can only be one cry baby bridge is like saying there can only be one haunted house because there are just so many houses all over the place. When it comes to stories like these it’s all about moderation. I would obviously be a fool if I believed every haunted house/cry baby bridge story they have out there, but I am sure that there are at least some.

There is a crybaby bridge down the street from wilberforce university in wilberforce, Ohio. The bridge doesn’t cry- what it is is the situation of the wind and the trees and open sky that creates some sort of hollow wind blowing that sounds like a child crying. i assume this is the case for all of these duplicate ‘crybaby bridges’, etc.

There’s a crybaby bridge located on the outskirts of Pendleton, Indiana. The entrance of the haunted ‘Main Street Graveyard’ is also located meerely yards from the bridge. Legend has it, that a new mom had just cheated on her husband with someone in town. The man found out about it and was after the woman. She took her baby and ran away, but the baby wouldn’t stop crying. In fear that her husband would hear the baby crying and find her, she threw the baby over the big iron white bridge, and kept running. He ended up finding her anyway, and hanging her in the tree and shot her in the head.

Apparently, if you go to the bridge you can, like all the other stories, hear the baby crying, and rumor has it that woman still haunts the graveyard.

Lots of strange things have been reported of happening at that graveyard, sad thing is, it’s’ on private property and the owner lives right next door and knows how haunted it is. She knows its dangerous and will call the cops if youre fooling around with it after dark.

To “I Saw It” in regard to the stop sign. In the story I posted, I described the legends surrounding Greely Chapel Road in Lima, OH as they were told to me. It was only tonight that I came across the story of the murdered teenagers and the guy who was hung from the stop sign. At the time of my experience, however, it was told to me as the classic urban legend about the motorcyclist who was decapitated by the stop sign. You know how urban legends tend to pass from town to town. I’ve looked up the story on the murdered teenagers and it appears to be factual, so I can chalk up the motorcyclist to nothing more than a recycled legend. Either way the result is the same and I intend to go see this bleeding stop sign for myself now that I’m a little older and have experienced this sort of thing for years.

there is a brige in Nebraska that I have known about for some time …It is called cry baby brige for a reason there is an old farm place just southeast of the brige where you can see some of the old building still standing … it is said that if you stop just before the bridge and sprinkle baby powder on your vehicle and go slowly over the bridge not only will there be baby handprints but those of humand hands print (mother) on your vehicle weather night or day. and at night or day you can hear a baby cry when you open your vehicles window.. I know cause I did this and it is true.. will not tell you the town becouse there is alot of goings on that is very very real and very very gostly in our town..there is said to be an old railroad track near this bridge what happened know one will ever know….

I went to a crybaby bridge &+, I saw a ghostie & she said ” Do you have any toilet paper? I’m getting an itchy rash from wiping with these old leaves! ” I said, ” Yes, I always keep a spare roll in my back pocket!”, I pulled out the roll & looked at it, before handing it ro her I said, “You’re in luck! It’s the Bargin Kind! ” She gave me an angry look and said she only uses Charmin!! She took the roll out of my hand, pee’d;wiped, and through the used toilet paper at me &+ told me to go to the liquor store down the road &+ bring her back some boo’s, she was tired of hearing the baby cry.
Yup; true story. (= Even though she was a bit predijuce towards the Bargin Brand. )= -Emilia<3

there are a few bridges in sidney reportably to be the exact bridge where this all took place.. but did you know just a small crack and a ounce of wind can make creepy sounds.. I have been to a few bridges out of no where in Sidney, Ohio that you can’t even drive across and I don’t feel anything.. I’m not skeptical I just don’t really believe there is a crybaby bridge in every county of ever state.. it’s proposterous.. or whatever how you spell the ****.. don’t bother trying to find it man.. not worth it.. but if you ask some of the older ppl who lived in sidney for a while that believe in ghost or the paranormal then they might be able to give you what you are looking for.. i been to a few bridges like i said when ppl told me it was the bridge.. but i need solid evidence so i don’t believe any of the places are haunted.. ross bridge maybe, but i know there’s a creepy bridge down from the railroad trussels down a little ways from jail.. i can’t remember thought because it’s been years.. good luck.. peace..

I went to “one” crybaby bridge in Ohio when I was a teenager back in the 80’s. Didn’t see nor hear anything. I agree that there are crybaby bridges acrss the border, so most are nonsense, but, I think that the story had to come from somewhere long ago because something probably did happen on one bridge somewhere. It’s just like everything else though, people run with stories and legends and exagerate. IMO, there is probably one real crybaby bridge somewhere and that is it. But to know where and exactly what happens is probably impossible because none of us believe anyones story. Which, most sounds rediculous. Maybe just one little bridge with just one little cry and that is it. I could believe that.

First of all,
cry baby bridges are real.
One night me and my girls and my boyfriend went to one in anderson sc. We were all convinced that nothing could happen. We got out and put the keys on the hood of the car and held our hands behind us. For about 5 min nothing happend then we ALL HEARD A FREAKING BABY CRYING. I started freaking out. The door was locked. My boyfriend couldent find the keys because someone toke them. He busted out the window and unlocked the doors. The keys were inside of the car. The car started and we toke off. About 15 min later my girls started crying because there was a dead babydooll in the back seat of the car. We sold the car the next week. Cry baby brdiges are real.

well i think the legend is true cuz i went to cry baby bridge in south carolina january 18, 2008. it was me, my brother, his friend and 4 other girls there with us. we parked on one side of the bridge then got out and walked to the middle of the bridge and started yelling “I GOT YOUR BABY” then l8ter tht nite bout 12 am we heard some noises but idk if it was a baby crying but it was sumthin lol. but what made me believe it was that the legend said that baby hand and footprints wud show up on your windows well it was the wintertime and it was foggy there so the windows were really fogged up and after we came back from yelling i got your baby in the middle of the bridge we went back to our vehicle’s and on the back window of my brother’s vehicle sure enough there was some hand and footprints goin up the back glass so yea i believe in the legends and all yall other bi****s can stfu and keep your opinions to yourself.

I have been to the one that is supposed to be the real thing and got wasted on the bridge all night and didn’t see nor hear a thing. It’sa all bull and not to discourage any of you but your just believing the hype that has been built up for many years about the bridges being haunted. It is as old as my dad, and he has tried it when he was a kid as well. The same thing happened to him. “NOTHING”

This road is a little different than most haunted roads. On this road a crazy woman will actually run out of her house and chase your ***. It’s happen to many, many people over the years…Myself included.

The woman owns most of the property on the road. And shes been known to pop out of nowhere and chase you off the road and try to damage your car for no reason. The woman is old and evil looking as hell. She also doesn’t like it when you pull up to her house. Alot of people do this to try tow get her to chase you.

She also keeps an abandon house all fenced up with barbwire…Which people call the Midget House. There are so many stories about the place, god knows what’s true and what isn’t. Everything from the KKK to witchcraft has been said to go on in that old boarded up house.

Also her house actually looks like something out of Texas Chainsaw or something. It’s an old big farm house from like the 20 or 30s. Its gotta be the oldest house around the area.

Just be careful going down that road. It’s way out in the middle of nowhere and there’s alot of crazy stuff that goes down out there.

we live in london ohio we have a crybaby bridge. there has been many stories of crybaby bridge here. But were telling you the real story of the one in London Ohio.In the early 1900’s a black woman was walking with her baby daughter and she tripped and accidently dropped her baby off the bridge. And she heard the baby screaming while searching for the baby. It was midnight so she couldn’t see her baby. So she dove in after her daughter. So she hit her head on something and drowned. The baby stayed afloat for two whole days and finally drowned. And to this very day you can hear and see the Baby and her Mother at Midnight down in the creek. If you stop on the bridge and get out of your car your doors will lock and the baby’s footprint will appear on your window.

The cry baby bridge on Fudge Road is true. But I have went there and only heard the water splashing; no cries of a baby. And the old widowed woman lived in one of the houses and drove a big black cadillac. Everytime someone would drive past her house she would get in her car and chase them out. I know this is true because I grew up near here and have many relatives that have been chased by her. I’m not sure why she chased paople out though.

All of you so far…..THE ONLY Crybaby Bridge in Ohio is in what is “affectionately” named Rouges Hollow…And all the stories thus far are wrong as well.. The Legend of Crybaby Bridge is an evil tale of deceit and infidelity… and ending in tragedy. The wife of a wealthy landowner/farmer had been unable, after 6 years of trying, to bare him a male child to inherit the family lands after he passed. In despair, the wife had went to see her husband’s friend’s wife, but found that she was not home…only her husband’s friend. He was intoxicated, and after many advances, decided to rape his friend’s wife. Nine months later, a girl-child was born to the couple, and everything was fine for the first 3 months. Rumors were started by the local sewing circle that she had sought “outside” assistance in becoming pregnant, and the rumors reached the ears of her husband, who himself had been being unfaithful on his loving wife. After dinner that same night, the husband proceeded to become drunk himself, and began the interrogation of his beloved on just how she had become pregnant. When she sobbingly confessed to her husband that she had been raped, he became enraged, feeling inadequate that he himself could not provide her children. he proceeded to accuse her of adultery, claiming he would kill the child. He left the dining room and headed to his study to retrieve his gun. The wife ran straight to the nursery, wrapped the girl in a blanket and fled out into the cold November night. she was headed to the town Sheriff to ask for help…as she passed over the bridge, she heard a gunshot behind her. She ran under the bridge to hide, fearing for her and her daughter’s life. The baby, being cold, began to cry. Her mother , fearing her husband covered the baby’s mouth. The child began to cry louder, and she could hear her husbands footsteps beginning to cross the bridge. he heard the child crying and followed the footprints under the bridge, and found them. He grabbed the child from her, and threw the child to the ground. The child fell out of the blanket and landed face first in the stream. He embraced his wife, holding the revolver to her head and told her that her and the ******* baby would die and that their bodies would never be found. He fired twice and her body fell to the ground. He walked over to the baby, picked her up, and spit in her face calling her a whore, and punched the 3 month old girl in the head as hard as he could. He then dropped to his knees, and held the baby under the water of the stream until the bubbles stopped. He let the child’s body float away, and returned home for his horse and cart to take his wife’s body home. He buried her behind their barn, and told the townspeople his wife had left him and taken the baby. But Guilt is a spiteful ghost, and two days later he shot himself. The body of the child was found by another farmer two counties over, and the truth was discovered. There is legend that you will hear the baby cry and that you will hear the gunshots..if your not too afraid to stand on the bridge on a dark night. just remember…that cold you feel…..may not be the weather….

And then it had said something to my son’s friend saying that it was gona get him. So we hurried up and got back in my car and drove away.
