Crybaby Bridge
It is said that a woman and her baby once fell from this bridge and drowned in the water below. Passersby may now hear the sounds of a baby crying every night at midnight.

I’ve never heard anything! In between Massillon & Wooster! Was said that a couple were in a heated arguement. Their baby was in the back seat crying, because they woke it up. The father was already mad & couldn’t handle the baby crying. It was 12:00 midnight. He pulled over on a bridge. With the mother still nagging & the baby still crying, he went mad. He got out of the car, put his key’s on the hood, went to the other side, took the baby out & threw it over the bridge. The mother went in to save the baby (which was already drown)crying & yelling for help. The father already being in a state of madness, got back into the car, locked the door’s, but did not start the car. Hearing the crying & yelling (felt guilty & came back to reality), got out of the car,put the key’s on the hood, & jumped over the bridge to save his child & the mother. Did he die? No one knew, but soul’s never die. That was the story! But, I never heard a thing! 4 Real

I have lived in or around the Dayton area since I was born. The only place that I’ve read about Crybaby Bridge is here on the internet. I’ve never heard stories, nor have I been to the bridge. This website specifically says that this particular bridge is in Sidney, OH, while all of you are talking about Dayton, Chillicothe, and what have you.
As for Amber up there at the top, I’ve driven over the Mad River a number of times and there is more than one bridge. Not once has my car stopped, nor have I heard the cry of a baby. I’ve never even caught a scary vibe from the place.
I guess that goes to show you, the only time you find a place scary is after you hear the false stories that others tell. Otherwise, it’s just another place.

I don’t believe in crybaby bridges, merely because of the sheer quantity of them. I do, however, believe in the tale surrounding a set of railroad tracks in Miami County. In the late sixties a bus full of elementry school kids stalled out on the tracks and was promptly hit by a train. Legend states that if you put your car in nuetral overtop the tracks, get out, and sprinkle flour, baby powder, or cocaine…you know…something powdery…on the trunk and rear bumper then walk away for a few minutes, when you come back, your car will be safely off the tracks, and there are little hand prints all in the powder. The spirits of the kids are still there, making sure no one else dies that way. I’ve been on a drunken expedition to try this out for myself, and believe me; it works. It shocked me out of my drunkenness, actually. Then I cried the whole way home cuz I was so sad about those poor kids.

Okay look people, it’s all in your heads! I went with my Dad and his girlfriend to a so-called Cry Baby Bridge. There was stuff written all over your bridge saying, “We killed your baby” and “Drown baby Drown!” My dad tried to scare me and told me to get out of the car with him… of course I did. Then he told me to be as quiet as I could and listen for the baby (it WAS midnight) and his girlfriend made noises like a baby to scare me. It is all in your head, you’re scaring yourself into thinking it’s actually happening.

Just another example of an urban legend. There are so many locations for the “crybaby bridge”.

Why have something as ludacris as CRY BABY BRIDGE. Every state has some stupid hyped up tale that involves people throwing babys off bridges or diving out of cars or burning buildings under bridges and My mother told me so .. its gotta be true. Once again another website suited to the story telling part of hauntings rather than the facts of hauntings.
Woodland Cemetary <– haunted in Dayton Ohio
WPAFB <— haunted in Dayton Ohio
San Rae Apts .. 2836 <– haunted in Kettering Ohio
So who ever is dedicating there time to bullcrap atleast give some real places that are recognized as haunted locations per state and give a little true mystery to the afterlife. Not 100% ****

For all the people that say these stories are bogus just because of the high amount you must also remember that there are twice as many bridges as stories and I’m sure that there has been more than one suicide that involved jumping off of a bridge since the beginning of time. And to say that there can only be one cry baby bridge is like saying there can only be one haunted house because there are just so many houses all over the place. When it comes to stories like these it’s all about moderation. I would obviously be a fool if I believed every haunted house/cry baby bridge story they have out there, but I am sure that there are at least some.

There is to be said that on Jacoby Rd. Yellow Springs Ohio that there is a crybaby bridge. The mother dropped her baby off the side and it fell to it’s death. that bridge burned down a while back.
Let me tell all of you this. I am 16 years old and i have lived down the 1/2 mile lane on Jacoby Rd. There is NO CRY BABY BRIDGE! We have not heard one thing. nothign mysterious hs ever happend. Even when the bridge used to be there
Also another thing do you honestly think that a mother in every county & every state would go drop their baby off a bridge? i think not, maybe a few but not EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.
thanks (:

There is a crybaby bridge down the street from wilberforce university in wilberforce, Ohio. The bridge doesn’t cry- what it is is the situation of the wind and the trees and open sky that creates some sort of hollow wind blowing that sounds like a child crying. i assume this is the case for all of these duplicate ‘crybaby bridges’, etc.
DUH!
