Real Haunted House

Dayton Lake Estates

Kenefick, Texas

Built in 1960 by a couple, this three story home is said to be rather strange. After catching her husband in the act with a neighbor, the wife murdered her husband and his mistress; the house was never completed. Though it is located on a riverbank that floods every year, the home has never sustained any water damage. It is said that if one goes to the room where the murders took place, his breathing will become labored. The stained glass windows of the home are also said to glow after midnight.

ok, i live in dayton, i hung out with my friend in Dayton Lake Estates all the time, we’ve been through every abandoned house out there, night and day and there are no haunted houses out there, probably a rumor so if you wanna see some cool hauntings, dayton is not the place but if you hear of a real one lemme know so i can check it out =]

The Ott Hotel is haunted, they nicknamed the spirit Trench bc he wears a trench coat and hat. he possibly worked at the railroads. My aunts friend Ryan was washing dishes in the manager’s apartment with headphones when he turned and saw a “demon” and all he could do was cry for his mother. Another man James, a triplet that lived there with his brothers and his mother was manager, refused to go into the first room on the right up the front staircase. he never said what happened, but something scared him bad when he was in there cleaning with his mom once. Trench is usually seen upstairs by the back staircase. i’m the kat that commented on Dayton Lakes.

I owned a riverfront lot in Dayton Lakes for 19 yrs (’79-’98). I knew quite a few residents there and no one ever mentioned the haunted house. Too bad because I’m big into supernatural experiences. There’s no way that area can ever be improved with any home value to speak of because of its location in a natural flood area. You know what you’re getting into buying there and must deal with it. It’s a good weekend place if you like to fish the river and want to buy a lot with or without a small house (off the ground, of course!) You can’t beat the price! Lewis Lake also has great bass & crappie fishing. If buying and you want the highest ground, stay in the area after you make the right turn onto River Rd close to the entrance. Good luck and y’all keep those ghost stories coming!

Oops! I meant highest ground is on Trinity Rd, not River Rd.

the house in dayton lake estates i’ve been out there many times since halloween ive been exploring the grounds and looking the road called little rd is right in front of the church there is no sign. the rd looks like a driveway to the church but it is not it goes about 50 ft into the brush then ends into mud there is a house to the left of the church where the rd ends it is prety scary especially at night. i haven’t seen a 3 story house yet but i haven’t gone that far on to the property. i believe the house that everyone is talking about is there but u have to look. i had an odd experence while i was there i believe there are spirits there or something there while i was walikng and exploring the property i was walikng bake to my truck and out of nowhere a peice of briar about 3/4 of an ince hit me in the face, after i was hit i looked around and did not see any brisr around where i was at i don’t know where it came from i know it was briar because i had 4 thornes in my face that had broken off. i have taken pictures and posted them on unexplained tx they are pics of the chappel. little rd is on the left side of the chappel when u turn on the rd the sign to the chappel will be on your right. to get to the chappel comming from dayton follow the rd going to kenefick go through kenifick till you see a sign on the left pointing to the right that says dayton lake estates turn there and follow that rd way back in the woods approxmately 2-3 miles till you come to a blue house on right which is on a corner turn right at that house that is trinity rd there is no sign follow trinity rd about 1/2 mile to a white sign that says dayton lake chappel turn left at that sign go about 1/2 a block to the chappel it is on the left, there is a sign by the rd that says dayton lake chappel. if you go to unexplained tx and look at the pic titled dayton lake estates you will see a pic of the chappel

My cousin lives 100 ft or so from the house. Its at the very end of Cottonwood Drive. We walk to it and it is not hard to find. You can see it from the road.

hey matt thankyou for helping clear up the confusion i was having i didn’t realize that cotton wood st went that far until i looked at google maps and saw that it did . cotton wood goes nearly to the front door. i have been going around the back of the house by the church. what are they doing to the property beside the house? it looked like it was being cleared off.

I’ve tracked all kinds of things down on this particular house, it still stands the owner of the property is Anton Polkner atleast that is what the Tax Office has down on paper. There is no way to contact him. I will be headed up there tomorrow to view the property and the house will be with Dayton Lake Estates City Council members. I will take pictures of the outside and possibly the inside and will post somewhere on this webpage. If you would like to contact me you can do so at (832)589-5452
