Devils Tramping Ground
In these woods, there is a perfect circle in which no grass grows. Many have placed large stones inside the circle, only to find them gone the next day. It is said that at night the devil walks around the circle and thus moves everything outside the circle. In one report, a scout set up a tent in the middle of the circle and the next morning found the tent outside of it.

I went out to the tramping grounds and attempted to test all the myths. The myth of placing things in the circle was immediatley disproven because we arrived to find the remains of a fire, a blue backpack, and a Jack Daniels bottle in the middle that had obviously been there for some time. It was daylight so there were no red eyes. It was also very possible to drive your car over the circle without it cutting off. I drove my car up the path and over the circle with no problems. I also drove on the circle, cut my car off and started it again with no problems. There were also some random blades of grass throughout it although on the whole it did not seem able to support any plant life. The only other part of the myth that seems to have any truth to it is the myth that animals shy away from it. I cannot make any factual statement about this because we did not bring an animal but there did seem to be an odd absence of any animals including insects. I did not see any there in the full thirty minutes we were there.

There are reasons there is a path around an empty area (that’s not that empty; grass does grow after rain and sunlight). It is an animal path, it is constantly being walked on by people in the middle of the night trying to find the devil, etc. I’ve done the rock thing and returned the next morning to the rock being exactly where I put it.
Sorry, but this one is bogus.

Hey my names is Emily. And I went to THE DEVILS TRAMPING GROUND with some friends and we campt there and when we woke up we were still in the circle. Right when we got there there was trash and wood all in the circle. But at first I belived that it just might be true but when we got there it’s not true.

Firstly,There is no devil that exists there! Secondly, there is alot that does not go on there, and alot that does.I and two friends were there on July4th and 5th in the afternoon on both days. Here is whats not there: no insects,no squirls,no noise, and no devil trampling around. This is whats there people who do not respect somebody elses property, trash, half eaten food, and beer bottles.I would like for someone to dump this stuff on your front lawn if you were one of the people who do this kind of stuff. There is an energy that exists there. There are spirits who watch over that place.I felt it was sacred ground. These are just my paranormal feelings. On the 4th there was no trash or litter. My two friends and I took pictures of the circle with us posing in it.Two of us came out in the pictures one of us did not. There was trouble with the camera at times. We could not understand this ,because it was brand new. There was no insects, birds, squirls,or rabbits anywhere near that cicle. Really odd. I felt magnetic fields all around that circle.I felt heat energy on the bottom of my shoes. We left in late afternoon. On July the 5th we returned to get our friend in a picture with the circle ,because it did not happen the day before.Trash ,food, and beer bottles all over the place.Half eaten hot dogs and rolls were in the middle of the circle.Ask me if any ants or other insects were there.None. Nothing touched that food. Why? When the three of us stood in the circle the wind would blow at the top of the trees. When we walked out of the circle the wind stopped. We did this several times with the same results. Also, sitting in a chair it is easy to fall into a deep sleep, not like any you are used to.We cleaned up the trash that some yahoo idiots left, and the sun came through the clouds. Weird! Now, when I got home I was ready to take a shower when I spotted a tick on my stomach.I took it off with no trouble with my fingers. It was dead! I think while I was in the circle it died.Yeah nothing happens there! Maybe nothing that you want happens there!Pay closer attention to your surroundings.

the Sacred Circle
the three of us were drawn together for a journey in life and the bond created within the circle amongst us will never be broken…..
A little about me………I have been trying to learn how to meditate, go out of body, etc. Anyways, I was able to travel from Philadelphia PA to visit the Circle in North Carolina this past 4th of July week-end. I went with my two very good friends and we were able to visit the circle twice
Things that occurred while I was there
-camera would not review photos within the circle, only when I moved out from it could I use the review feature
- Camera froze while I was inside of the circle attempting to take a picture of a friend who was standing outside of the circle
-felt the very strong presence spirits
- I had goose bumps and a heart race increase continuously while in the circle and difficulty breathing as if the air was thicker
- noticed that leftover crackers in the area had ants on them outside of the circle but not within the circle (someone left food there prior to us visiting)
- Not one bird or animal to be seen ANYWHERE in eyesight from within the circle to as far as we could see
-could feel heat coming from circle through my shoes, extreme hot heat from the ground within the circle, very hot
- I felt as though I was being watched from behind the circle in the woods, opposite from the road, however no one was back there
Changes within myself since the visit
- sleeping much better now
- much calmer
- I feel both cleansed and healed
Different people feel different things around spirits. Some people get goose bumps—other people feel cold spots, or hot spots, or increased heartbeat. Some people feel like they are being watched. Others feel a strong, dense-ness of energy. Meanwhile, some people feel nothing at all. Everyone responds a bit differently.
the human body is remarkably sensitive and can sense changes in the external environment. So, when things feel “unusual” (due to paranormal activity) your body is alerted. This is an instinctive, biological response. It may also be connected to the strong electromagnetic fields that appear in the presence of paranormal activity.
I strongly believe that the profundity of a person’s experience of a sacred site may be significantly increased by having what Devereux calls a “multi-mode” approach to the sites, that is, by experiencing the sites from the vantage points of both knowing and feeling, both mind and heart. Knowing means having an intellectual and factual knowledge of such things as the mythology, archaeology, history, geology, astronomy, and geomancy of a site. Feeling means the practiced ability to intuitively tune into and sense the presence of a site. The ancient people who discovered the power places and erected ceremonial structures at them were most certainly interacting with the sites on both feeling and knowing levels. If we contemporary people seek access to the wisdom of the ancients and their power places we must likewise employ both lines of inquiry – knowing and feeling – in order to tap into that wisdom and power.
I believe the number of people who feel absolutely nothing in the presence of strong paranormal activity is very, very small—however, factors such as your physical health, your mental and emotional state, your intelligence/awareness, and your belief system could all play a role in how you respond to the sacred circle.

Hello my little ones! The circle is alive and well.It has a purpose ,and it will not harm you.It is very theraputic. You can be blind and still see. You can be deaf and still hear. What the eyes do not see the heart does. Not all things are tangible. In all religons a supreme being exists. When is the last time we saw a supreme being. You do not have to see something to believe in its existance. What is most amazing about the comments I have read except for the two above mine is the lack of knowledge. You as a person are born with five senses, you should use all of them all the time. The sixth sense is common sense ,and I have not read much of that in these comments.I was taught in school that Biology is the study of life. I really feel that should be changed to Biology is the study of life as we know it,as we do not know it,and as we do not understand it.Next time you visit the circle my little ones open your senses to whats there instead of whats not there.May the great spirit warm your moccasins.

um…okay dont quote me on this, but there is this place in death valley, where these ouilders move on their own, every day they slide across the ground, its nothing ssignintific, it actually has something to do with the weather and the type of rock it is. im not saying i dont belive in this type of stuff, i just seriously doubt that satan would, if he does in fact exist, pick a cozy little spot for himself in the middle of nowhere. dont you guys think he would want to feed off the human condition at its finest, say in like, new york?

Okay, so to clear a little bit up…. I have done a lot of research, but I have never been…. but as far as the facts that I have come across (saying the things I have seen more than five times consistently) everything has pointed that there is no biological or geographical explaination for this. The footpaths you must travel along are right angles, whether or not created by something supernatural or people simply visiting is unsure. It is said that this was used for a meeting place of Indians in the area, and it is also said that this area is a crossroads of sorts for paranormal activity. The soil itself has been tested as far down (possibly further) than thirteen feet, and the soil itself is entirely sterile. For the disbelievers, try explaining why it is in the shape of a circle and why if a fire is started it grows at a certain hour…. try explaining the strange noises only some experience and the nausea others experience. I live in South Carolina myself and plan on making a road trip this year…. however, I do not go with any sort of expectation or belief in what I may see. If you go with such, you’ll receive nothing. Unfortunately, if you do go, sadly enough it has become littered by teenagers looking for a cheap thrill…. though it is on private property itself. I’ve seen pictures as recent as today and not long ago, someone had put a refridgerator in the circle…. All I am saying to everyone who will read this is do not judge something that you know nothing of. Do not debunk it until you have visited more than once on a proven time at which any spirits will be restless…. such as a full or new moon or even a lunar eclipse. Before putting others down who have felt things, know that not everyone is able to feel the same experience at any given place of the haunted nature.

I’ve been to the site. It’s creepy.I’m not sensitive in any way but you can feel something different.I sifted the dirt from the circle between my fingers. It didn’t seem odd. It’s just a feeling of oddness.I can’t think of another place where I’ve had that feeling.Make of it what you will.

I have stayed over night here, in the rain, it sucked. The area is littered with trash from people partying there and leaving a mess. There are lots of evidence of campfires in the circle and paths that lead all thru the woods from obvious wanderers. Nothing scary at all about this place, unless you are just afraid of the woods. Was disappointing as I love to explore so called scary places, just can’t seem to find one that is actually scary and not full of fluff.
