I live in southern henry county, just a few miles from dumpling hill. This place does seem to have something going on there. We weny there one night and heard limbs cracking and a strong breeze went past us like someone ran by us. also, we thought we saw a figure coming towards us but we got the heck out before we could be for sure. The cemetary is located on henry/mansfield road off of hwy 77 or off highway 79. its the only cemetary on that road as far as i know

Donna says:

My aunt lives down the street from this Cemetery many of times late at night my cousin and I would go up there and walk around just to see if something would happen. Not a thing happened. I never felt, heard, or seen a thing. Therefore, I do not believe this story to be true.

I have been to dumpling hill, and I am here to tell you this is the real deal. We traveled there in a car. There were four of us, 3 girls and one boy. When we got there we all jumped out of the car and headed for the top of the hill. We spread out a blanket and wrapped up because last night it was really cold outside. It was getting near 12 o’clock, and when it reached 12 exactly we saw something come out of the trees. it was silvery and shinny and we ran like no one’s business.

Well, if you’d like to know my experience there, I guess I could tell you… Let’s see… My cousins Winter and Forest had talked me into going ghost hunting at Dumpling Cemetary afew weeks ago, and let me tell you, I was awfull!!! We went around 11:37pm when Forest suggested we split up. I remember checking my watch over and over again. I was terrified of haunted anythings- Still am- and all I wanted to do is Leave! It was exactly 11:58pm when I’d heard a moaning coming from a tree in the distance. When I screamed, I expected one of my cousins to run out from behind it laughing. When no one came, I went to inspect it. Nothing. And when Winter and Forest did show up, they told me that they hadn’t see or heard anything. It was at that exact moment, all three of us standing under the tree that a almost evil moaning echoed from above us, and when we looked up, the siloett of a man’s body dangling from a branch appeared then dissapeared. It happened so quickly that I hadn’t even noticed when we’d started running. I’ll tell you one thing, i’m never ever going back. (And by the way, I think I have Excelent grammer for a 14 year old!) -P.S. I would suggest you not go to that cemetary, by the way. As soon as I stepped foot there I thought something was wrong. I only knew something was wrong when I was running out screaming. Do Not Go.

Actually, this story is quite true. The ghost will only bother you late night, around nine o clock, the man committed many crimes. Since at the time there was no justice for African Americans and he was punished the same way many others were at this time. He was hung. So around late night, go by there and see what happens, I live in TN, its quite amusing around here sometime.

Ok for one~me n my cousin have been going around n investigating places like this. We went to the Pleasent Grove Dumplin Hill Cemetary one night and it is NOT haunted. The legend is a fake! We were there for 2 hours n Nothing happened~but we did get a strange picture with some kind of white fog mist smoke in it. And it was the only pic that had it in it. But there werent any noises or movement anywhere. N we had made it known that we were there. No activity was proven. Just that strange picture my cousin took with her highly digital camera. Other then that it was just fun to go n check it out. But its in the middle of nowhere in the Paris area..but If your really looking for something haunted~ Want a scarey cemetary to check out!? Go to Asbury, Ky. near Coldwater, ky. We had a strange n scarey time~But I WILL WARN YOU!! Make SURE you Leave Be For It Gets Dark!! N TRUST Me you Will Get Scared!! n Dont be Surprised if your Car Doesnt Start At First~He is called the “Crazy Man”, n HE DOES Chase You Out of His Cemetary!! NO JOKE!!

2nd my cousin and i just went to the cemetery 2 weeks ago oct 2009 and at first felt little spooky but then we relaxed and walked the whole cemetery the outskirts of it …nothing then we heard this huge noise in the woods which coulda been a tree branch or whatever but i took my digital camera and got this kick butt photo of this huge fog. out of 15 photos there was no mist fog or anything accept that one so i believe i caught something.

Hey all :) I live near Paris and have never been to Dumplin Hill Cemetary but would like to one night. Cemeteries are hard to investigate cause of the openess of it~~ being outdoors~~ could be anything makin noise, animals, wind, trees etc. and ghosts or spirits won’t come on cue. They may appear one night to someone and may not the next night and depends on the person as well.

Having visted Dumpling Hill during the day and seeing, I am a sensitive, quite a bit of activity, we went back Oct 21st, full moon, with some friends. Everyone was touched, saw light figures and a couple of us saw a full figure just standing by a tree. We also smelled a sweet smelling scent several times. Talked with a spirit who died in childbirth who was timid but did talk for awhile. We all felt the icy coldness around where I was sitting talking with her. Our temperature gauge went down to 6 in that area. There were three of us around the fence when we got a great K2 hit. Right before this we saw and heard something jump in the leaves and make a strange noise about three times. Got nothing on EVP though. Did get one of the best, most beautiful orbs I have ever seen. It appeared in two pics and in one had three strings of white coming down from it going ito my back. Who is buried in the fenced in area with the little stone? That was who we were talking to when we got the K2 hit.

Paranormal1 says:

October 23, 2010, 5:47 pm

Wanted to ask Kerdonbri3 where the other cemetary was that they were taling about and what happeneds there.
Would also like to now of any houses that are open to go through.
Went to Palestine Chapel and had quite a few expierences including a little girl who as I was watching her walk in the chapel, we got a pic of an orb with a hole in the middle. Also got touched on the shoulder and at the same time have an orb on the same shoulder. I am so upset about the vandalism there though. If you are afraid, stay away. The chapel belongs to the spirits not for you nonbeliever chickens to drink beer and break windows. How juvenile is that. Go knock down a mailbox or something.

Kevin E says:

October 28, 2010, 5:07 pm

I went there with my son and a couple friends last night. There is a really big tree that looks like it is old enough to be the tree he was hung from. If you walk ubder the tree you get a really chilled feeling run through rour body and it felt like cold wind blew across my neck. When I walked away from the tree the feeling went away and it got warm again. We were near the edge of the cemetery in the front pary and suddenly something started walking in the leaves a few feet from us. It took about four to five steps and then stopped. Also as we were leaving there was a dark shadow or form that went walking across the cemetery in front of us.

Some friends and I are hopefully going to Dumpling Hill this weekend for some Halloween fun.. It’s right down the road from my house, but i’ve never actually been. I’m hoping to see or feel something, especially considering i’ve seen plenty of other paranormal type stuff before. I’ll definitely get back on here and tell what happens!

Paranormal1 says:

October 29, 2010, 7:03 pm

Emily F please let me know what you see or feel. I don’t feel the slave if there was one was buried in the fenced in area. It feels more like an animal or inhuman, not real evil but could be if provoked. We saw a full figure of a man under that tree Kevin was talking about. More than one of us saw him a couple of times. He was a white man in dark clothing, very mean looking and he just stared at us. I never got the feeling of a black slave man at all. Wish someone really knew who is buried in the fenced in area under the small stone. We plan on going back and investigating more after Halloween. This is a very interesting cemetary, full of energy. the orb we captured was so big, full of what looked like moving energy and appeared in three different pics, like it was following us. Can’t wait to read what you guys see or feel. Just always show respect and thank them for appearing and tell them they can’t go home with you. Have fun.

Emily F says:

October 30, 2010, 3:54 pm

Well we went last night a little after midnight. We told it, whatever it is, that we were there. We heard leaves rustling and sticks snapping to the left of the cemetery. Each time we heard it, it was in the same spot. A couple of the people i was with kept seeing, what they thought was eyes, glowing in some low shrubs towards the back of the cemetery. We kept seeing shadows that could not have been from us or our flashlights and i saw a white streak flash across the tree close to where the “eyes” had been seen, but higher up. As we got deeper in the cemetery, it got quite a bit colder. My friend was recording on her phone and at one point in the video you see a white flash move really quickly across the top right of the screen, but that was the only thing out of the ordinary caught on video. The moment we walked into the cemetery, it got hard for me to breathe. I couldn’t take deep breaths at all until a few minutes after leaving the cemetery, which i found strange. It was very interesting, and i would love to go back sometimes to see if anything else happens and to take some pictures..(we forgot cameras last night and phone cameras don’t do justice!)

Paranormal1 says:

October 30, 2010, 10:31 pm

Sounds like you have some events happen. The feelng of not being able to breathe usually indicates that you are feeling the spirits; that possibly you are sensitive to them. Have you had that feeling before? We saw red glowing eyes the bottom of some bushes to the left of the cemetary. We heard leaves rustling and sticks breaking the whole time we were there. Pictures would have been good and you probably would have captured something since you got the flash on the phone cams. Dumpling Hill is a very active cemetary to me anyway. I saw flashes of light and a spirit during the day there. It ended up being a lady we talked to the night we went. Try relaxing more the next time you go and ask questions. The cold did come and go when we were there going down to almost 6 degrees at one point with a temp gauge. Where else have you been and what happened then? You sound like a serious hunter/ not just looking for a scare. Let me know. You do live down the road right?

Kevin E says:

October 30, 2010, 10:38 pm

As you walk past the gate is what you are calling the “left part” of the cemetery down around several gravestone for Ellis family members? That was the area I was in and something made heavy footsteps in front of me in the leaves. Also the very large tree down in that area of the cemeteryis where I got the cold chill on my neck and the temperature felt like it dropped. I wantto go back sometime in the daytime so I can actually see what is there are where the fenced in area is. What should I be looking for?

I saw where some idiots had been drinking out there and left their beer cans laying on the ground, I wish people would be respectful to the people who are buried there whether they are ghost or not. The next full moon is going to be around November 21st. Is it better to go there on a full moon lit night? I have only been once, but I do believe there is something there guarding the cemetery or haunting it.

Kevin E says:

October 30, 2010, 10:52 pm

Paranormal1 do you live in the Henry County area? I live in Paris, I am 48 years old and I am interested in this legend from a serious fact finding perpsective, I am not going out there for s**t and giggles. I created a Dumpling Hill Cemetery Ghost fan page on facebook. Everyone is welcome to go there and share your experiences and photos. You can find the page by searching for “Dumpling Hill Cemetery ghost in Henry County, Tennessee”.

Kevin E says:

Emily F says:

October 31, 2010, 2:26 am

Paranormal1, I’ve never had the feeling of not being able to breathe before, at least not in that situation. This was the first time I’ve actually ever visited any “haunted” place. Things have happened to me in my own actual house before though.. some very recently. I do like the thrill of it, but I take it seriously too because I do strongly believe in paranormal happenings and not wanting to upset anyone or anything. I was going to go again tonight with the same group of people, but we got side-tracked tonight. I really do want to go back sometime before long though with cameras and actually talk to whatever may be up for talking that night! I would like to go in the day time first though to get a better idea of the layout of the place. And yes, I do live just down the road a ways from it.
Kevin E, I joined the facebook group. When I say the left, I’m referring to when you walk in, past the sign where all the older graves are that have sunk in. Opposite the side where the fence with the 2 large pillar-type grave stones are. And yes, it is very disrespectful, people going there and trashing the place.

Paranomal1 says:

October 31, 2010, 8:13 am

So glad there are serious people out there who want to investigate and not drink beer and push over stones. So disrepectul. That is what will get us not allowed in them anymore. Did anyone clean up the mess? A full moon usually makes them more active, as it does everything… I need to look at the tall stones in the fenced in area and see the names. I want to research who they are and who the small stone may be. I really don’t think it was the so called slave. I went during the day and had a lot of feelings and saw quite a bit of flashes of gray and white. I like to go during the day and get a feel for the place before I go at night. We are definitely going back in a couple of weeks. I want to see what that was with the K2 hit and see if we can record it. We didn’t get any pics of it that night but I feel we will if we try when it first hit the leaves. It was so strange seeing the leaves move and seeing sore of a blurr and watching the K2 going crazy. I live in the Martin area. I would love to find more houses to do. I do love cemetaries though, always have. Just have to be careful there for you never know what is really there trying to trick you. Definitiely going back to Palestine Chapel. Have loved that place from the beginning. Hope the vandalism didn’t cause them to lock it. Ran into a group there once from Nashville was goiig to do a fund raiser to fix it up. Hope they still are. I feel like taking a broom and cleaning up myself. So disrectful to the spirits.

Emily F says:

October 31, 2010, 3:35 pm

Paranormal1, this probably won’t help much, but my friend’s mother does a lot of family research. She’s visited many cemeteries, taking pictures for people, and doing research about all of it. All she knew was that the two large stones were wealthy white men and she didn’t mention the small stone. However, she said from the research she has done, supposedly only white people are buried in that cemetery. Of course, the slave could have been buried before the actual cemetery was started and just not been recorded or who knows what. It would be interesting to be able to find the true story. As for the mess, I’m not sure if it’s been cleaned up or not. We didn’t venture too far when we went the other night. I would love to visit some more places nearby sometime. I’m starting to get really into this kind of stuff. I go to school at UT Martin. Have you ever possibly visited Clement Hall on the campus, the dorm that is supposedly haunted?

Janice Thomas says:

October 31, 2010, 4:11 pm

my son and I & my hubby went there last night between 8:30 – 9:00 pm, if was creepy cause it is so dark, not a shimmer of light, left the headlights on, my son 22 yrs went out and explored the gravesites by himself while we watched(you know for pranksters maybe) it was quiet and uneventville, nothing happened at all, except the creepy feeling, my great grandmother is buried there, rest her soul in 1909, & yes he saw some beer cans & a blunt package, so hope no one gets to messy or vandalizing anything,be safe and courtious !

Not sure how active inside really is. Maybe you can meet our group sometime when we go since you are so close. there are only five of us so far but we are all real. Three of them are UTM students too. May daughter graduated from UTM. Am hoping to go somehwere this weekend. Do you know who the caretaker is? Would love to get permission to go but can never find out who takes care of the places.

When going in Dumpling Hill you will sense you are not alone. When we saw whatever it was in the fenced in area, it moved the leaves and was about the size of puppy. You could sense and see movement of some sort in the leaves too, not just the leaves moving. The K2 went wild. We didn’t get an EVP though. Can’t imagine that much energy moving the leaves. Whatever it was is associated with the little stone. Sorry, this was in answer to Kevin’s question. I feel there are about 6 or 7 different entities there. You just have to be quiet and wait for them to respond, they will.

Yes, just sit still and quiet for a while and things will start to come to life in the cemetery. At least they did for me and many others! Paranormal1, sorry but I don’t know who the caretaker is. Surely there is some way to find out. It’s interesting to find out so many of these people go to or have gone to UTM (: When do you think you may possibly visit Dumpling Hill again?

Kevin E says:

November 1, 2010, 3:57 pm

Just off the top of my head I would say if you want to find out who takes care of the cemetery maybe you could find out by going to the city hall in Henry. Or maybe go to the Henry County court house and make a inquary.

KERRIE, is the name of the cemetary Asbury Cemetary in Murray? Have you been there and what kind of activities happen there?
That is a good idea of contacting City Hall Kevin. Wish when they post haunted places they would put the caretaker name and number too.
Plan on going somewhere Sat night but not sure where just yet.

November 1, 2010, 9:46 pm

Hey Kerrie we need to find out the name of the people who own the cemetary. I went on that Asbury site and you really need permission or will get kicked out or they have people, real people, who try to scare you out. That would not be good. Sounds like a great, great place though. Am trying to find out who the owners are even if we have to drive there to speak with them. Sounds like it will be very active and unpredictable. Lets try to find out who they are. I just sent a pic of a great orb from Dumpling Hill to Kevin’s email to put on face book. It is wonderful… WE got three different shots of it. Want to go back there to get more pics.

Has anyoe noticed more or less activity depending on the number of people who are at the cemetery at one time. I mean have you noticed more activity when you were there by yourself or with a very small group of people or have you noticed less activity if there is a large group of people there? I am wanting to go back during the next full moon cycle in a couple of weeks.

Paranormal1 says:

November 7, 2010, 2:20 pm

Kevin, I have noticed that some spirits just ignore the other people and respond to the person they want to talk with.
Sometimes though they do hide if they are afraid or are a weaker spirit. I have found that you just look around, then sit and wait for them to make contact. I think that gives them times to relax and check you out. Has anyone ever had a problem getting run out of that cemetery? We plan on going back in a couple of weeks too.

Emily F says:

November 7, 2010, 6:12 pm

I’ve never heard of anyone having problems getting run out of it, by a spirit nor human. Just, of course, people getting too scared and leaving.
I agree with the spirits seeking out particular people though. The night I went, there was a group of five of us. Everyone heard, felt, and saw things, but some individuals more so than others.

Paranormal1 says:

November 8, 2010, 4:41 pm

I also agree with you Emily. I think also that people who aren’t sensitive who hang around and ghost hunt with people who are, seem to open up more and have more experiences. That has been the case with a lot of people who go with me. Even my husband has felt things now that he has never felt before.
I also would like to see if anyone out there knows the caretaker’s name at Palestine Chapel? I want to help clean up the vandalism that some idiots caused but don’t know who to contact.

Paranormal1 says:

November 13, 2010, 7:52 pm

Has nobody been ghosthunting? Its so quiet on here. We were going tonight but such awful weather to have equipment out in. Has anybody been anywhere new? Would love to hear some new experiences.

Paranormal1 says:

Hey guys.Went to Dumpling Hill tonight. Wow, you won’t believe the thick, smokie mist we got pics of. One time I had something that felt like a hand that was squeezing my shouler twice. My daughter took a pic and I had the mist coming around my shoulder. Will get pic to facebook site tom.
We also got a lot of gorgeous orbs. No one wanted to talk but did get growled at twice and actually got a pic of a small, brown dog shaped entity running in the leaves. Wonder if he was the thing we had hit the K2 the last time we were there in the fenced in area. Very strange looking dog but does look like one. The growls were louder and fiercer than a dog though. Dont know exactly what the mist is; an entity, a bunch of entities or just energy. Wish I knew…

Kevin E says:

November 21, 2010, 9:01 pm

WOW that sounds awesome, would love for you to put the photos and the experience on the facebook page. I was going to go tonight, but there is alot of cloud cover and I didn’t think there would be much moonlight to shine on the cemetery this time. It is suppose to rain most of next week, so I might end up waiting till the December full moon.

Paranormal1 says:

November 23, 2010, 8:50 pm

Its always dark there even with a full moon. It didn’t help much. I can’t imagine all that was around us and we couldn’t see it. Really wild. Can’t wait to get back there. It was so cold that night; not sure if all was the weather considering what was there. Will try to post a couple pics tomorrow. You won’t believe your eyes. Where else have you been?

Paranormal1 says:

December 4, 2010, 1:01 pm

Where else have you been hunting? Have you done any houses? I’ve been in a few but not recently. I guess it has become too cold for ghost hunting for most people. I really doubt that will stop me on the full moon this month. Do you have other people who go with you?

Kevin E says:

December 6, 2010, 1:16 am

I would love to go this full moon cycle if I know someone will be there with some instruments so I could watch and see what is going on out there. I have had a terrible cold the past 2 weeks and have not felt much like doing anything outside. If you plan on going this month maybe we can work out a night we can meet out there. My son will probably bring me out there since I am legally blind and can’t drive myself. Actually I prefer vision-impaired since I can still see enough to get around fairly well without help. I went with some friend back during Halloween and was able to walk around the cemetery at night without tripping over anything witha flashlight.

Hey has anybody been ghosthunting? I know the weather sucks but just asking. Almost went to Dumpling this weekend but got tied up with family. Plan on going back when the weather is better. Have some people who want to go with me to see what we captured. I would love to find out what is really there. I know people have been there are captured orbs with faces on them but haven’t heard from anyone else. If someone has had a experiene there, please let me know. I need some background. The slave story I feel is not real. Have never felt or seen a slave here at all. What is there is beyond our imagination though. This is a very special plase, evil, good or maybe even heavenly. Hope to find out soon. Let’s start typing folks. I want to talk….

Has anyone been lately and caught anything good on film? I plan on going back soon. The place is amazing. I have just never experienced anything involving the slave. If anyone has, I would love to know. I am not doubting the story, just haven’t seen anything to suggest a slave had been hung there. The mist is so beautiful and the actual orbs are sectioned and one seemed to follow us around like it was interested in what we were doing. Would love to hear of more experiences.

I haven’t checked this in forever since going back around halloween in 2010. My curiosity got the best of me though after a girl i went to high school with went 2 times in the past few days. She got pictures with orbs, said they could see faces in some of the pictures, and even took a recorder the second night they went. In the recording, she is talking to herself asking if the recorder is even on and then if it was working, and after both questions, you can clearly hear a raspy “No”. Creepy if you ask me!! I want to go back sometime soon now with my husband and a friend or two if it’s not too cold anytime in the near future! I’m sad no one has posted on here in a year :/

I went out there the first time with two friends, and my husband. It was late and a weekend and we had been talking ghost so we decided to go to Dumpling Hill because one of the friends knew where it was. We took a small led flashlight and cellphones, we recorded everything. We walked to the back of the cemetery and looked around. We got quiet so we could hear and we did not here anything at first…we started to look at the gravestone because they are very old and interesting. We walked along the edge and we talked about the gravestones, we noticed that there was a tiny light over on one side of the graveyard. My friends and my husband went over there and saw that it was a solar thing on one of the graves, I was still looking at one of the gravestones on the side that I was on. I heard something almost like someone walking towards me and I said something about it; they all turned towards me and the light from the flashlight showed a shadow on one of the stones. Whatever it was it was heading towards me and I saw something…I don’t know what it was but it was something. I walked (very fast) towards my friends/husband and we looked back in that direction and saw nothing but we could hear footsteps and then we all saw a light go in front of another gravestone and that was when we hauled *** out of there. When we got home we all listened to what we recorded on our phones and my husband had his phone on video at the time and there were orbs on it, his was the only one that captured anything. I told what happened to my sons and they wanted to go so I went with them, my husband refused to go back and still will not go back. I took a small tape recorder with me that time and we did exactly the same thing that I and my original party did, we heard noised from the woods but we could not say that they were not things that one would normally hear at night and we did not see anything. After we got home and listened to the tape though, we did hear a voice but could not make out what it was saying to us. Either way, the place is creepy and I am by no way encouraging anyone to go out in a cemetery late at night I am just telling you my experiences there.

I went with my boyfriend and his little brother. As soon as we pulled into the cemetery we all got a strange vibe and I was flooded with an odd energy. After we walked around for a moment and then I proceeded to ask for communication, just any sign that someone other than us was there. We’d left the car running and were using the headlights to see. All of a sudden after I’d asked for a sign the car engine revved up and stayed like that for a moment, then it stopped making noise. We left after that, but I intend on making another visit very soon.

Well, I been to it. Once. Didn’t really c anything. We didn’t stay long, but leaving, as we got out on the highway, on left side there was this big ball, orb of light. I asked others if they seen it. They said they did. There were no other cars insight. Been meaning to go back to that spot.

My husband, myself and brothers went one weekend ago to explore. I caught a photo with a white line of what looks like braided smoke above the fenced in tombstone area. I had an uneasy feeling and wanted to leave. We just went again tonight and things were much more interesting. I caught an orb near the big tree with the large limb hanging over, to your right as you’re walking into the cemetery. In addition, we were recording audio. In the beginning we were a little loud because my 15 year old was scared and we clearly heard “shhh” on the recording. Later in the recording we hear, and it is CLEAR AS DAY, “you’re too loud”. It gave all of us chills to hear the audio. We’d like to go back and spend more time and try to communicate.
