I used to live in a haunted house in Durango Colorado. I lived their 8 years so too many stories to tell but objects would go through the air and hit me (not hard). Sometimes I would feel a hand on my head stroking my hair when I was sad. We would feel someone sit on the bed and of course no one there. This house was located in the same area that used to be a miners camp.

My sixteen birthday is coming. Maybe I should go there and sleep on the third floor of the hotel. I might get too scared, but I'll get my mom to comfort me.

I heard that the third floor was the most haunted and I also heard there is a spirit of an Irishman that Stanley bought the land from for the hotel that haunts the hotel. His picture can be seen somewhere in the hotel.

Hello-I am a Colorado native (not too many of us left!) I too have had a couple of experiences at the Stanley Hotel. I worked for a short time at the local newspaper and had to take some advertising info over to the manager at the Stanley. As I walked from the parking lot to the side building (in front of the main hotel entrance) I heard the most beautiful piano music being played. As I have taken the tour years ago I knew that Mrs. Stanley had been known to sit down at her old piano and play. As I walked across the property-dropped off my info then came back to the main front porch. I just stood there enjoying the music. A oriental man was also standing there-I thought also listening to the music-so I commented on the beautiful song. He looked at me strange and said he didn't hear any music at all. I took this as a little gift or a "hello" from Mrs. Stanley.
The tour I mention that I took years ago-really cool! They take you from the deep dark basement to the top floor where it is said that most of the activity takes place. I was standing toward the back of the group on the top floor when the guide was explaining that back in the day the 3rd floor was used for the nannies and children. In the hallway about every 15 ft are ladders that go up to the attic. As I was standing there listening-I leaned over and looked up the ladder. A young girl with long dark braids looked down at me and smiled.
