Eliza’s Spirit
During the 18th century, a witch named Eliza lived is this home. Since her death in 1831, every family that has resided in the house was haunted by her spirit. In 1945, the house burned. Eliza’s spirit, however, continued to wreak havoc, often screeching during the night. Some brave souls have stayed at the site and have all met Eliza.

Hi, I read a similar anecdote on another website that said this site was somewhere on the Bog Road (Off Rte 2 near Hermon). I drove the bog road several times looking for anything that looked like an old house site but no luck. I also looked in the local Library for any mention of a house burning in 1945 on the bog road but no luck there either. I’m beginning to think it may be made up. If anyone finds out anything about it I would love to know. email me at spcop1366@yahoo.com.

I heard this story as a kid growing up. It was a tall tale. A very tall tale. Hopes this helps. Now if your interested. Visit the Lucerne Inn in Lucerne, Me. And request room 8. I have had friends say they heard voices outside the room.

I do live in Bangor, and I’ve never heard of this story. Although, I have heard of the Lucerne Inn being haunted, but I’ve been told it is room #5 that is haunted. =] It would be cool to have something exciting happen in bangor, Maine for a change!

I believe that the house that I used to live in was haunted at 86 Oak street Ellsworth, Maine. Too many unexplained things happened there.

I have lived in Maine all my life. I grew up with all these stories. I have heard this one many times growing up. I also heard about Al Brady and the Brady gang. He is supposed to haunt Bangor. Central Street Downtown Bangor to be exact. He died on Oct 12, 1937. Columbus Day. About 8:30am. He was gunned down by authorities. He has an unmarked grave in Mount Hope Cemetery.
I remember this story for several reasons. I remember hearing about the house. But always thought it was a legend because there was no address or any information on where the house was located.

I have never heard this storie in my life. It is probably because I don’t live in Bangor.
(I know Steven King!! no joke!!My mom used to live in Bangor. She lived two or three houses down from him.):)
