Real Haunted House

Ghost Light Road

Jacksonville, Florida

A man was once driving down this road when he crashed and was subsequently decapitated. If one drives on this road at about five miles an hour, a white light will approach the car and then hover above it.

The light that people saw was from cars turning at the County Road 210/Greenbriar Road junction. Since they have straighten the road, there has been no more sightings.

I’ve been down that road plenty of times and each time I see the light, however you also see a tailight which is really spooky. There is no way it is a hoax on account of the road is about 3 miles long (at least) and the road that intersects it runs adjacent to ghost light road, therefore it is physically impossible for it to be another cars lights. VERY SPOOKY!!

It’s very possible for it to be cars. CR 210 had a curve that took it back to SR 16. Greenbriar Road joined 210 at the curve, almost like a T with a slight curve. If a car was on 210 coming west (the direction of Greenbriar and the curve), the person headed east would see their headlights suddenly “disappear” when the car turned.

This is the first time I have ever looked up a ghost website and when I saw that “Ghost Light Road” was a sighting, I immediately got chills and called my best friend. My friends and I went there while we were in high school, approximately 13 years ago and witnessed this light. It was the scariest thing I have ever experienced! We were driving up and down this road for about an hour and once we were leaving, suddenly this head light was right on our tail. It seemed as though it was going to drive through us. There were about 6 of us teenagers in a van and we couldn’t stop crying and screaming. We went back another time and experienced something else a bit more spooky, but that’s another story. I didn’t think people talked about that road anymore…..

I have lived in Jax for many many years and as a teenager we would go to ghost light road. This is an actual occurance. You do see the light coming straight at you. If you then look behind you, you will also see its taillight. If it was fake then how do you always only see one light? never two like a car. I also heard the story of the escapee from the mental hospital who was decapitated. He is looking up and down the road for his head.

I have called your phone # (5923 one) and am interested in your experience (with your equipment)on Ghostlight Rd.

I have been on the road about 16 years ago and saw some strange occurance which looked like a motorcycle light following “us”–about 5 kids in a jeep…Then, as everyone else has stated above, what appeared to be a single RED light which followed the car a a distance but stayed the same distance away form the vehicle. Then vanished. Strange to say the least…good thing we had about a case of beer with us for the ride. email me if you would like. diga___@hotmail.com

Thanks and it sure as hell is NOT the “moon or street light”.

P.S.

The real name for the road is “Greenbriar Rd.” St. John’s County.

Can get to it from San Jose/S.R.13 over Julington Creek bridge and past “Switzerland” area…

Happy hunting and bring lots of whiskey for the ghost.

You can also get to it from Roberts Road or the I-95 exit for C.R. 210. There are so many things the lights could be. I lived in the area for the past 11 years and up until a few months ago, I live off of Greenbriar/C.R. 210 (they run into each other). I’ve been up and down that road a thousand times, under all sorts of different conditions, at all different times. A long straight road at night (especially when it was unpaved and the dust was kicked up) can play all sorts of tricks on your eyes. Two headlights seen at a distance will look like one. It might even be a motorcycle but not a ghost one(heck, we have enough in the area). I’ve never seen anything on the road nor been scared by the light. The deer in the area are much scarier. If anyone has questions for me, feel free to email me at sneakiecat@yahoo.com.

att jane…
not to argue .. but the thing I have learned about ghost is if you dont want to see them you never will.I have friends who are skeptics and I think ghost react to an individual more than a location.I also never saw anything supernatural until I went looking for it. I havent done this for very long but I can tell you that when I started looking, I started finding. going this weekend to st augestine to check out an old house…wish me luck

ps..stephen…I wish I could say I was an expert but I am not..maby contact north florida ghost hunters they can get you started…they are local…happy hunting… you can E-mail me at sean_engelmann@hotmail.com

But I never said I didn’t want to see anything. Far from it, I would love to see something supernatural. I’ve had unexplained happen to me and to family members and friend as well. I just don’t believe that there is anything at this particular location and if there was, it could never be proved because of all the things it could be. You said that you never saw anything supernatural until you started looking for it. Could you be seeing things because you want to? Tell a person who believe in the supernatural that a place is haunted and they have a tendency to find evidence in the most mundane things. Send a skeptic to the same place and all they’ll hear is the house settling (or whatever). Same concept as matrixing in pictures. A set of pixels becomes a face because you want it to be. I’m not saying that all hauntings are this. I believe that this one has not real. Until I have some sort of experience there that can’t be credited to something else (and I’ve plenty of opportunities), then I’m going to say it’s not paranormal.
