I lived in Beaufort from 1978 to 1985. My father was actually a native of Beaufort. He and I used to go out to Frogmore when I was a little girl to see the famous light. I will definitely attest to the fact that the light is real. I LOVED going to see the light and would beg my dad to go see “The Light”. I witnessed “The Light” on numerous occasions. It is true that you go park your car not far from the tree, turn everything off and just wait. Then out comes the light for a visit. I had forgotten about this story until recently when I have experienced some other “paranormal” activity and wanted to do research on haunted places. I am so interested to visit Beaufort and drive to out to old Frogmore and check out the famous Light again. Like everyone else, my Dad spoke of the different versions of the story as well. He liked the version of the solider looking for his head the most, but also noted the bus accident and slaves as well.

Can’t anyone speak standard English in this country? I’ve met people from all over the world who write better English than the people on this site.

Beyond the very poor writing, it is spelled Frogmore, not Frog Moor. And, it is definitely, The Light at Land’s End, not The Light at Frogmore or the Frogmore Light.

Thank you, Michelle! I went through the public school systems in Beaufort and am amazed at the intelligible postings. I guess I got them Southren smarts purdy good! Anyway- Yes, the light is real. While in high school and because there was not much for us to do in 1988, four of us headed out to Land’s End and parked under the “Hangman’s Tree”. We did sit for a while although I do not remember how long, the light appeared as a car or motorcycle headlamp. Those of ya’ll not from the area have to know that this strech of road is several miles stright where this light appears. It was not until the light made no advancement, that we realized we were looking at The Light. Cars and motorcycles did come up the road towards us that night and each time we held our breath until the vehicle passed. We saw the light four times that night before I, the driver, became sufficiently freaked out enough to head back to the town. The second time the light started as a white ball but began to chaned to a light yellow, continually advacing toward us. I turned on my headlights to see what would happen- it vanished. I turned off the headlights, the light reappeared and graduated from yellow to red but this time it did not continue to come towards us and just disappeared. The fourth and final showing that night came just a few moments later when it began the trek as before. A white light but this time it moved towards us quickly, began to changed it’s color, grew larger and dissapeared! Seconds later it reappeared way too close, maybe 30 feet away, easily 50 closer than where it disappeared. I turned my headlights back on, the light vanished and we got the heck out of there!

i wanna know i live in hampton 30 miles from beaufort i go there all the time and i heard that old sheldon church has a guy buried alive in a tree and clemson university wanted to investigate

YEAH I WAS JUST TALKING ABOUT THIS WITH A FRIEND AT WORK.BUT IT IS IN FROGMORE(LANDS IN).BUT I WAS THERE WITH MY GIRL AND 2 OTHER COUPLES.BUT WE PARKED UNDER DEAD MAN’S TREE WHERE THE SOILDER WAS HUNG AND DECAPITATED AND COMES BACK WITH A LATERN LOOKING FOR HIS MISSING HEAD.BUT WE WERE IN THE CAR AND WE SEEN WHAT LOOKED LIKE CAR LIGHTS BUT TURNED INTO ONE LIGHT THAT WENT OVER THE CAR AND SHUT IT OFF.BEFORE WE COULD TURN AROUND AND LOOK FOR THE LIGHT IT WAS GONE AND THE CAR CRANKED ON IT’S OWN.AND THE WE TOOK OFF NEVER LOOKING BACK.SO I KNOW ME AND 5 OTHERS KNOW THAT IT IS TRUE!

Oh, wow! I laughed out loud (actually, literaly) when I saw this! Not that the story is funny, but My best friends dad told me about it, except he said it was an old drunk white man mozying along with a lantern….so seeing this was pretty comical. You would just have to here it… XD!!!!

alright here is my veiw on this story for one it cant be a bus iv been many times and each time iv gone you can tell it is not one because it flickers and sometimes bounces across the road looking for like a lanter than a head light but the way iv heard it is that Private Frank Quiqley was in a battle at fort fremont and killed or beheaded and was buried somewhere in the chapel of ease but if you go to the adams street baptist church and pee on a grave then know on the door three time has to be three people the go to the tree turn the car off flash the lights threee times the honk twice and wait you will see it but there cant be any cars on the road so if you see one you have to go back to the church and knock again. you will know it is the light when it appears quickly bright out of no where after a short period of time it will die out and go away but i have seen this light and i know its real trust me i have lived in beaufort my whole life and so has my family.alten

alright so i have lived in beaufort all of my life and its been 16 years and as you know teenagers usually do anything they can to entertain themselves. and since the movies get expensive and drugs get you in trouble after a while. I was sittin around drinkin with a few friends and thinkin about stuff from when i was little and i just thought about the light that my older sister took me to once and talked eeryone into going to see it and so we all pied in the car and since that night the word spred all over town. since that night i hae taken aroud 15 people to see it for the first time and the reaction on everyones face is priceless. the stories range from a bus crash to a headless man as youve heard but whatever it is it is definetally fun. all you have to do is drive down the road (usually riding down there we go about 115) NO COPS. best time in the world…. anyways you go down to the third church on the right side of the road where you see a sign that says bermuda bluff. you pee on a gravestone and then get one friend to go with you to the door of the church you both bang three times simultaneously and then get in the car and drive down to the first tree on the left side of the road that hangs over the road pull next to it so that you are half way on the road and half way off right next to the tree. and flash the lights 3 times and honk the horn 2 times. but the most important thing is no cars can be on the road. but dont be fooled by the light it may seem like a car at first just watch and it will dissapear into nowhere. after that you could do it again or go down the road a little ways and take a right turn on buchanan road and visit the fremont fort. anyways have fun.

The light Ive seen several times over the years. It was Brighter than any car light and at times it would flicker like a candle and dim and fade out. I have known the story is a soldier who had been sentenced and hanged from fort freidmont that is located at lands end. old sheldon church and church at lands end people where placed in and burned during civil war. If u go down to the wide curve going left at the near end of lands end . At the beginning of that curve you will see an old oak tree. That is the tree that was used for hangings and the soilder that was hung till death.during that time. The lose of the head is urban legend.But there was much great tradgety. Many live lost down that long road. I know myself that somethings are better left alone.

Okay, I’m guessing that most small towns have some kind of “Ghost light”. I live in a small town and the story behind ours is that a couple had just got married. They were traveling down a curvy road and got hit by a car. If you go out there, park and turn off your lights you can see one headlight traveling towards you and then you can see what appears to be tail lights hitting it. It is also said around the same are that a cowboy was once hung. The scary part about that is my nephew had never heard about the cowboy and when he was just 3 I had taken my sister and him with me to see the ghost light. While parked my nephew told me that there was a cowboy standing outside his car window. Needless to say I put it in drive and flew out of there.

My son has gone twice, the first time he was 16,he not only saw the Church ruins and the light but he also seen something else that haunted him for 7 years until he could go back last year at 23, he brought back videos and told us what had happend to him and 4 friends.after parking it was hot so they let the windows down(elec)but when the light started comming towards them the windows would not go up.we watched the light come towards them on the video until it got right in front of the vehicle where it stopped and started to pulse getting even bigger and brighter, then it took off.they tried to follow it but it just disappeared down the road,they caught it all on video.The next day for some reason the video camera would not come on and later that day when it did, everything was gone,like it never happend.The next day as he was packing to go home he reached into the back of his suv and the chrystal bottle of Holy Water he had taken with him was missing the top even though he never used it.(he didn’t see what what he had seen at 16,thats what he took it for.)Needless to say he is planning another trip with several people taking video camera’s.

How do I find this place. I just moved to Beaufort and find this kind of stuff very interesting. I am looking to find this oak tree. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!!

Me and my boyfriend went up to the chapel last night we didn’t see the light but got about 4 interesting pics. I will be going back to look around a little more. I want to learn more on the history though.

Hi:My name is Rick I have lived in beaufort sc all my life and i have seen the lands end light.When i was a small boy around 1960 my mom and dad and older brother went to see it one night along with some aunts and uncles which were in another car .We went to the tree across from the church and parked cut off the lights and waited. In about thirty minutes a small red light appeared in the middle of the road about the size of a tennis ball or maybe a little bigger .We just kept watching it for a couple of minutes and then it got bigger and started to change from red to light orange and then to a mist white .After a few more minutes it started to move down the road towards the direction of the fort . By this time dad tried to crank the car but it would not start.And I thought to myself now would be a good time to get in the floor and thats the end of the light story.Another time when i was much older probally thitry or so .I was out with some friends one night running some coon dogs and we were on our last run for the night and we decided to go to lands end and try it.So we all drove to the church and parked .We were going to run the woods across from the church. What happened next was weird the dogs became real quite and the would not get out of their pens.One of the guys pulled his dog out and the dog went and got in his truck and that was the end of hunting for that night.

I have never seen the frogmore light but my dad’s friends have my dad was at the air station in 1970 my dad has never seen the frogmore light but he has seen some very freaky things out at the islands he told me that the oak tree by were the frogmore light is supposed to be the tree is called the hanging tree the stuff my dad has seen is when he was riding on hes motorcycle on st. Helen’s is. when he in encountered a formation of about 24 black bare foot men dressed in rags.he couldn’t stop and drove through their ranks. the men appeared to not notice and did not break ranks he was going 60 mph.were they zombie?
