Ghost Light Road
A man was once driving down this road when he crashed and was subsequently decapitated. If one drives on this road at about five miles an hour, a white light will approach the car and then hover above it.

Hi, I am from the class of ‘86 Wolfson Sr. High. I too have visited Ghost Light Rd. and it is true. We saw the light ahead of us coming at us and then it disappeared only to see tail lights behind us. It was the scariest thing I have ever seen. I was screaming at my boyfriend to get us the hekk out of there. When he got me home I told my mother where I had been and she has seen it also.

The road is paved now and has been paved for awhile…I went with a group of girls when I was in high school and nothing happened. Now that the road is paved you can no longer see lights coming and going…It was cars passing people…CARS.
P.S. Hannah~ It use to be a dirt road out in the middle of no where…you know no where, that’s were you can drive 5 MPH in Jacksonville… just because it says Jacksonville does not mean that it’s in the “city limits”…get a brain.

Interesting story. Does anyone have any information on the William Joseph King House in Mayport? Someone told me today that it’s supposedly haunted, but I’ve never heard anything about it. I asked my husband, whose lived here all of his life, if he’s ever heard the story about “ghost road” and he said “no”. If you know anything about the WJK house in Mayport, please email me at truevine@hotmail.com. Trying to find some information for a friend who is very confused right now. I’m not sure what I believe about ghosts. I’m not convinced they were ever living people. Seems more like demons whose purpose is to confuse and scare to me.
Thanks
Mia

Angel. Let’s go find the ghost.
Also, bring some beer–the ghost likes whiskey. No shhhhhit.
If possible we will either casually enter the burnt insane asylum and/or break into it as we see fit. There are others coming. If you have some cute friends–bring them too…We’ll get thr ghost drunk .
Let’s hope this time he rides his bike a bit safer.
You game>?

I’ve been down that road millions of times. I’ve seen the light everytime. But I’ve never seen the ghost. I guess I’m lucky. I’m never going down that road again. It scares me!

Rose my dear lady…Don’t be afraid of that damn ghost too much as it seems to only like chillin’ around the “outs” of the road–the old DIRT ROAD which backs up against the burnt insane asylum fence.
Anyways, you’s gonna be jus fine if ya jus chill round da other GREENBRIAR RD–the new 1. K?

I have a hard time believe that it would be the dirt road off of the now paved Greenbriair Road. First, not a lot of people ever go down that road. There’s no need to. Second, since the actual Greenbriar Road was paved less than ten years ago (I think it’s been about six years), this would be the unpaved road that people have mentioned. People traveled that road all the time and even more so since it has been paved.

I live off of Greenbriar Road and yes it used to be a dirt road back in the day. I have been down both 210 and Greenbriar hundreds of times and I have never seen anything like that! I have also been to the “mental institution” that everyone refers to and that happens to be a church retreat camp. This story is bogus and I find it hard to beleieve that anybody has witnessed this without it being from their own imagination!

ASH:
Finally something we can ALL work with. We needed you a LONG time ago. When I went there it was when I was 16–that was 18 years ago & I am telling you there was a mental institution and a dirt road with a fence that said so–a *WARNING* so to speak.
Now that we all know that there still is something around that part…Can we break into the Church Retreat and “do a little testing” so-to-speak…ya know, with the equipment mentioned above?
We need a map to the “OLD Insane Asylum” so to speak. Please help as this will be the basis of our newest & (thanks to you–our best) plan.
Much respect.

I’ve been up and down that road several times and have seen the lights back when I was in Highschool (92-96). I was recently back in Jax and went to take my kids down the road to see the lights and was told by my friends that since they paved and rerouted Greenbriar road that the lights have not been there since. We tried anyway but with no luck. Of course that could be that it was the earliest we ever tried it, since the kids have a bedtime and in Highschool we used to see it after midnight
