Real Haunted House

Ghost Light Road

Jacksonville, Florida

A man was once driving down this road when he crashed and was subsequently decapitated. If one drives on this road at about five miles an hour, a white light will approach the car and then hover above it.

BOOO! I can’t wait to travel the ghost light road. It sounds very smarmy and delicious. I have my ghost buster costume from last year that I will be wearing while holding a 25 1/3 mesh fishing net up-right in my rag top….while driving down GLR. I have yet to convince my friend to join my ghost mania, eventhough she is a dog and can not talk back. So if there is another ghostbuster out there????? maybe a venkman, spangler, or a possible winston??? I will be Ray. —-Sarah O

ok… time to get down to business seems alot of you have intrest in starting our own ghost hunting club. What we first need to do is come up with a way to communicate other than this room.E-mail works if we hav a hub( someone to recieve e-mails and then contact the other members)untill we all are comfortable with each other enough to all meet and get this thing rolling. next we need a meeting place. where we can all get togeather( NOT THE GOLD CLUB STEEVE…LOL may have a hard time convencing my wife that I am going to a meeting there.) Lets start this thing and stop talking about it . who knows we may even get our own tv show out of it…lol . this is for people with a passion for the un-explaned not the passion for beer and sex..(again for steve) ..just messing with ya buddy . If you behave you can join too. We are all grown ups here, I would hate to have to start up a guys only ghost hunters club. Anyway anyone interested e-mail me and I will start contacting you guys to let you know whats going on. I am really excited about this I have a list of places Id like to check out. talk soon happy hunting……sean_engelmann@hotmail.com

WOW I cant believe how many people want to hunt ghost.cool. I been in touch with some of you so you know where I stand. I really want to avoid any cheese in this group. What I mean is I want to remain professional and creditable. I want to approch this from a scientific point , not just walking up to someones home with a keg in the back of the truck saying ” heard ya got one a them dar ghost, let me at em, hek.hek….lol”If we remain professional I know we could get in to some great locations..keep e-mailing me…oh also looking at cumberland island ruins..I got a boat that holds about 12 so we can get there.through some reasurch …seems there is dark history there…even before the Carnigies built their mansion there….maby a good start…also it is a national park so we could even camp there…If anyone esle has any ideas e-mail me at sean_engelmann@hotmail.com or sean@aaweldingjax.com
happy hunting….sean

Ok, here’s the deal…this road is a normal road in a fairly nice area of Jacksonville, Florida. Not much down that road but it’s paved and I went down there last night. Not a dam thing there lol. So, let’s drop the rumours. *)

I used to hang out in that area when I was a teen when the road was still a dirt road. I was told there was 3 holes in the road, which there was, each for a man, harley and a big rig. I was told a guy on a harley was making a short cut down the road and a truck driver was going the other way using the same short cut the other way and feel asleep. The truck hit the man and harley…. the rig, harley and man all “died” at that location. I know it is an illusion, but took me several times to drive the length of the road to find out, so I was spooked. Now there was a mental hospital back off that dirt road back in the early 90s, we drove out there and found it one night. When we found it a large 4×4 truck chased us out of there.
Just another goofy story for the same thing.

i think that ghosts are real. and i believe that everyone can see them some just choose to ignore their ability. i am 13 years old and had my first ghostly encounter when i was six. I was sitting watching tv with my babysitter and friend, robin, when i got thirsty and bed time came around. when i got up robin turned off the tv and i passed by my hallway. i thought i saw my little brother standing there, by our then junk closet. he had his hand sitting on the rather uneven door perfectly and oddly straight. i froze and said “lil bro, go back to bed, it’s too late for you to be up.”. he didn’t move so i rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and took a good look at him. that’s when i realized it wasn’t my baby brother. i shook my head violently and stare again. just at that moment he walked into the closet. i blinked a bit and continued on with getting my drink. at this point i was a bit spooked. i got my drink and walked back to watch a bit of tv to calm my nerves. my friend and i then heard an extremely loud crash from that very same closet. we swore on our lives we had broken something by putting something up wrong[our games we're kept in that closet]. i got up to clean up the mess we hought we had made. i was still fully aware of what i had seen just moments before. i opened up the sliding door and there it was. clean as if nothing had happened. nothing fell and everything was in place. i was taken aback and walked to the back bedroom where we were sleeping. me? i couldn’t sleep. i got up the next morning to tell my mom what had happened. she laughed it off because i was so young, she didn’t want to spook me. a year later, i had another encounter, in this encounter he was right in front of me. i was taller by two inches from the last time and had looked sraight at him. he said something i couldn’t quite make out. i said “i beg your pardon?” and he repeated what he said. he asked me a question. “who are you? and why are you here?”. after about peing my pants i answered back. i told him my name and that my family had moved from new york when i was just three. he gave me an odd look and then smiled. what happened after that encounter is a bit fuzzy. though i have had many sightings so to speak, i’ll never forget one thing i found while being bored in my room. i played hide and seek with my imaginary friend, jack, from the nightmare before christmas, i hid in my closet and planned on “surprising him” by jumping out saying haha or something. just before i was about to get out i stood up and put my hand on my wall to my left. i felt something marked in. carved. i brought in a flashlight after i told jack what i had found i used the light to decipher what was there. my eyes widened when i saw a name. it was spelled out m-a-r-c-s-h-a-l-l. marcshall. kind of like marshall. but with a cooler spelling. anywhat, after i found that i realized he had carved it, the ghost from before. i continued to see him and each time i did he talked to me more, now we’re what you could call friends. he has always sat at the edge of my bed, it just took me until then to realize it. i sometimes think i have an over-reactive imagination, but then what about my mom? she heard him and has seen him. same for my dad, robin, my little brother, my aunt, my unlce, my cousin[haha, he flicked the back of her head.]. also, my cat cannot sleep in my room as soon as it reaches about 10pm. he eows like crazy and dosn;t leave my door. i have found him cowering in a corner before, staring maliciously at something in the opposite side. please, do not think me crazy. this is very true. thank you for letting me share my experience with you.

SEAN:
You’ve got it. No more silly beer, whiskey, or sex jokes. PERIOD I said.

Now about that Cumberland Island 12 man boating “death sentence” we all are dying to sign up for…”COUNT ME IN”.

I’m always up for a good ghost experience & unlike you, I do not have a huge list of haunted places. I would like to go to several places surrounding the Carnegie mansion, especially with a metal detector. But that’s a different gig most likely.

I agree, CO-ED ghost hunting is cool & WAY WAY better…and unlike you, my girlfriend(s) do not mind that JAX GOLD CLUB “meetings” as long as they are present.

NUFF SAID.

Let me know about this & it may be easier to converse about this if “someone”–like you, started a YAHOO GROUP for Jacksonville-Florida Ghost Hunters or other paranormal activities. Yup, we are all professionals & believe it or not (like Ripley)–we sometimes LOVE acting unprofessional. Let’s sign up as many people that we can. I have 3-4 people–married also, that are interested so whenever the group gets up–we’re ready.

P.S. I’m still bringing my damn whiskey (in a flask.) The ghost likes it.

P.S. If you drive 5.5 miles per hour–the GHOSTLIGHT ROAD will break…to answer the question WAY WAY WAY up on the thread.

Yes it very true about ghost light road.I dated a guy whose mom was on the police department in St. johns County. Some people were out there playing tricks on people. They had a cord strung from one tree across the road to another tree.
A guy on a motorcycle was driveing done the road and never saw it and it decapited him. So yes it is him you see going through your cars.

I hate to burst everyone’s bubble, but there was a very interesting programm aired this past year on t.v. showing geologists and other such scientific brainheads examining an area near this supposed spooky site and they showed how the type of rock formations in the area can emit strange lights when the weather conditions are right. The lights described on this thread sound exactly like the lights they were describing and showing examples of.

STEVE!!! First off, you’re an imposter, I’m Steve, not you. I love spooky scary stuff, I work in one of our state’s fine correctional institutions, and our cellblock, which used to be confinement, is very much haunted, as well as a few of our dormitories. I’d like to come on a ghost hunt with you some time, I may even bring you some of MY whiskey in MY flask!! email me – thegreatsteveman@tmail.com

Jane says:

Mythbuster,

What show was this? I wasn’t aware of anything being filmed in the area. I also have a hard time believing that a rock formation would be a cause of this. Limestone is one of the few rocks that Florida naturally has. A bit of quick research turned up a few sites that claim limestone can “record” and cause a residual haunting (which you could make case that this is one) but there were no references to any sort of study or the likes. Also, if the rocks are causing the lights, wouldn’t they be seen in a lot more places?

where are these plantations in amelia island at exactly…..also have you ever been to the grave site by fernandina high school?

I went there last night with my girlfriend. We didn’t see anything, and we drove as slow as possible whenever there weren’t other cars coming. It’s a pretty busy road now, even at midnight. It’s also a long road. Where exactly are you supposed to see the light? There was a cross on the side of the road at one point, but we didn’t see anything there. It was pretty spooky, though.

Jane says:

Jon,

The light “appears” towards the eastern end of the road, by the saddle club. The cross was for an accident that happened almost two years ago. It has nothing to do with the light.
