Real Haunted House

Ghost Mountain

Fayetteville, Arkansas
By Lisa

Legend has it that back in the 1930s in Fayetteville, near the Drake Field Airport, there was a man who lived in a log house atop a mountain who had a nasty drinking habit that ended up throwing his sick child in a well.

When the man came home one drunken evening, he laid down to rest only to hear the cries of his sick child in the next room.  The man became enraged because he couldn’t fall asleep, so he took the child outside and threw it in the well.  His wife was hysterical because of his actions, so she took the well rope and jumped in the well to save their child.  The man then cut the well rope with an axe, leaving both his child and wife in the bottom of the well.  He then skipped town and was never seen or heard from again.

Today, when the moon is full and you walk by the well, you may hear screams of the woman and cries of the child.

The drunk man is the ghost. If a man is drinking in this house he may feel as though another man (the ghost) is yelling at him. It doesn’t seem to be noticeable to females. The house is near Drake Field, though it is in the valley not on a mountain. Spooky.
