i grew up in waxahachie and know people who have work there,yes its haunted and has good food but there are more huant there but the home owners are scared to talk about it

SO I live in Dallas, and never heard of this place until now. weird. Im gonna go there next weekend. I have ALWAYS wanted to experience a ghost. Sooo cool.
When I go there, Ill tell yall bout my time. And seriously people, grow up, and don’t put a bunch of **** on here.

I used to live in Waxahachie. My sisters and I would eat here all the time with my father. There were days it would feel a bit weirder than others, as if something unnatural was present, and other days it was just a plain old restaraunt. I believe it truly is haunted. I have been going there since i was a baby. It is definetly somewhere you should go if you ever stop in this town.

I’m a 50-something grandmother, and I can tell you that there was a really weird picture taken of the restaurant while it was burning. It was even published in the Dallas papers- you could see what looked like the outline of people framed in a window, inside the flames. Very creepy. I don’t know if you could google image it or w/e but that pic really stayed in my mind.

The Catfish Plantation in Waxahachie, Texas is very real. It is located in a Victorian Home, very common to Texas towns of the mid to late 1800’s. The phenomena began in the home shortly after it was purchased in the early 1980’s and converted to a restaurant. There was a period of several strange and unexplained occurances. Lighted orbs moving around inside after closing hours, levitating cooking instruments, salt shakers flying off tables, etc. Real hauntings usually defy the laws of physics and can be dangerous as this one sometimes was. The fire that occurred in the restaurant in 2003 heavily damaged the kitchen area and the place had to be restored after being closed for a couple of years. The research that was done on the home and its early tenants was only partially true and there is absolutely no record of anyone dying on their wedding night like the origional story goes but there is history behind the home which does true in to the three suppossed spirits that now haunt the place. The problem now is that the real hauntings have eased considerably and the staff now is known for hoaxing quite a bit…no longer a good place for serious ghost research as it now advertises the ghosts for profit. And yes, during the fire, there was a very questionable picture taken by the local Fire Marshal of strange things inside the structure as it burned. It is located on Water Street near downtown Waxahachie…a very beautiful North Texas town.

hey for those of you who think that texas is nothing but desert. It isn’t we are like anyother state we have gardens beaches lakes and haunted things as well. I have been to catfish plantation i live just one exit down from it. yes it was burnt down but spirts still stay in there beloved spot. i’m not the type of person to be like “oh the ghoast they are everywhere!” no. the only wierd thing that i noticed while i was there is when i went to the bathroom it sounded like the door opened and two girls came in. when i look to see feet i saw none and i didn’t hear the door re open. i go cause of the awsome food. you should go and enjoy even if you don’t believe the stories like myself.

it burned down a few years back but has since reopened they never did figure out what caused the fire.

ok yall i am from wasahachie and i lived here my whole life and i know the owner of catfish plantation and it close but not for years and its kinda weird that it was the electrical in the wall were the fire started and just a few days before the fire they had the people that go aroud and look to see if the place is good to stay opened they looked at all the eletrical stuff and it was fine and if you want to talk about america then why does everyone from diff. places come to live here if it is so bad then tell your people to stay were they are and the person from canada what the hell if you dont like america then go **** yourself you ****** jew canada is not that great i have been there and were i went it was a shithole you people are so nasty and the smell was nasty so keep your *** up there and leave us alone

ive lived in waxahachie alll my life and i was there when it burned down and when it did you could hear screams and it looked liked ghosts were flying out. real freaky, good food.

I used to live in Waxahachie, and worked with a waitress that actually worked there. When I lived in Waxahachie, it actually burnt. It was closed for quite a while and according to the girl that I spoke with it happened overnight and there was a rumor that some sort of paranormal being started the fire. Who knows!! I ate there frequently and never had anything strange arise. PICKLES are AMAZING !!!

I have eaten at this restaurant (The Catfish Plantation). I asked the owner for some personal experience and was told that on more than one occasion whoever was in charge of opening the restaurant in the morning would come in to find that the coffee maker and cups had been moved, and that the smell of freshly brewed coffee could be detected.

I don’t belive in ghost, they’re probably just making it up for publicity! Give me some proof and I then will belive it!

How long has it been since you have updated this information because this place was distroyed by fire many years ago.

I am co-owner of Catfish Plantation in Waxahachie and say that the restaurant was severly damaged by fire in 2003 and reopened in 2004. We were open tonight as a matter of fact, the Travel Channel did a piece on the Catfish Plantation that aired in May of this year and continues to air on Extreme Restaurants. We just concluded a shoot with the Discovery Channel for a new Paranormal show airing this fall. The ghosts are very real, but you need not come for the chance of an experience, come for the food and the atmosphere, you will NOT be disappointed!

Some people need to lay off the internets. Interesting story. Again I feel it’s to promote the restaurant…
