Goldfield Hotel
Following the impregnation of a prostitute by the manager of the hotel many years ago, the manager became angry at the women for the incident and took her to his hotel. As her pregnancy became more obvious, he chained her to the radiator in one of the rooms., and when the baby was born, he killed them both. The hotel has been closed for many years with no power to any part of it, but on some nights there are several lighted rooms. Workers have been hired on several different occasions to do restoration on the hotel, and due to the many unexplained incidents, the hotel restoration has never been completed and has changed hands several times. There have been several ghosts seen in several parts of the hotel, including the prostitute, the original owner, and two other men. Paranormal experts have visited the hotel many times and have determined that it is one of the nine portals that connect our world with the spirit world.

One of the nine portals? You crazy? I used to go t school with a girl whose mom and sister were sensitive to paranormal activity and their basement was a hot spot for activity. Electricity in the whole house was pretty well voice activated because the mom and sister could say “Turn on/off the TV” (especially if it had just turned off/on on its own), and it would. It’s not a haunting, but it is a portal. I’m sure there’s got to be more than nine on the planet.
As to the story, however… It sounds like a bad made-for-tv show to me. But hey, I’m up for a night spent inside. Joiners?
PS, anyone know of any hauntings in Ontario, Canada? (Preferably Toronto area). Kay, thanks
.

2 of my friends and I broke into the hotel. We didnt see any ghosts but their was definatly a room on the first floor that wasnt right. When we first broke in we immediatly ran to the second floor scared we were going to be seen. The whole time we were taking pictures.. the second floor, then the third, then the forth. ALl the time just snapping pictures. We went back to the first floor because the two boys I were with wanted to check out the pianos on the first floor. We came to the basement and I refused to go because something was off about it. We continued to the rooms on the first floor, all the while taking pictures. We came to a room, completely void of all windows, and immediatly after entering you could feel some kind of weight press upon you. I wanted to leave but the boys insisted on a picture first. 5 days later when we returned home to Las Vegas I was loading the pictures off my digital camera, and they came in first took oreder. The pictures from the second, third, and fourth floor were all normal. Got to the first floor, they were still normal, the one picture taken in that room was covered in spots and mist. Its very weird. All in all it was an amazing experience, something I will never forget.

I just watched something about this on scifi… I really want to go there. Why hasn’t anyone ever tried to remodle it into a hotel again? I think it would be well worth it. whats this about 9 portals.. sounds weird.

i just recently watched a show on the goldfield hotel where these two guys actually experienced poltergeist and caught it on film! they walked into a room near the mineshaft its built over. upon walking in and invoking the spirit, a brick flew across the room and boards flew into the wall. a phenomenom that couldnt even be explained by a physicist. there tapes have been analyzed and proven not to be a hoax. i dont remember the name of show, but i was genuinely scared aand would have reacted like these two guys did, terrified and ran to only jump out of a 2nd story fire escape.

I just watched the documentary you mentioned, it was
called Ghost Adventure (or Adventures). The version I
saw was presented as a two hour program. The second hour was about the GoldField Hotel. The first hour detailed the investigation by the team of some sites in Virginia City, that someone mentioned earlier. Another old western town which was so lawless at one time that there were many tragic and traumatic deaths. While investigating a hotel in that town, they captured the most convincing full body apparition footage I’ve ever seen.
It was picked up by an infra-red camera, and was a apparently not visible to the naked eye. The interesting thing was that a team member who was there alone was walking out of the room to check some equipment, and it seemed to follow him, maybe 20 feet behind him. When the man passed in front of a window, his head blocked the light from a streetlight outside, but when the apparition passed it, the light could be seen right through its head (it apparently dimmed slightly). It looked like a translucent person, and was one of the creepiest things I’ve ever seen.
The footage was investigated by a video expert who declared that the image was not faked. This footage
was widely publicized I guess, and they were interviewed on TV shows, leading to them getting an
invitation to come investigate the Gold Field.
An interesting detail was that they had themselves
pad-locked in, presumably to ensure that noone would
interfere with their investigation, or play hoaxes.
My son and I both thought: I bet they’ll be leaving
through a window part way through the night…
At one point they caught a brief image at the end of
a hallway that looked like someone’s hand and head
peering around the corner, watching them. The best
way I can describe it is that it looked like it was
made out of shadow – deep black and featureless.
When they got to that point in the corridor, it was
of course a dead-end, with no exit.
But the scariest moment was when they entered a room where they had heard lots of loud banging noises. The two men doing the investigation used alot of what I
would call “confrontational” techniques to taunt ghosts into showing themselves, making a sound, etc.
(Earlier in the show, one of them had climbed into a
bathtub in which someone had slit their wrists, and
mocked the ghost by pantomiming suicide motions, to
try to get a reaction. I didn’t approve of such
heavy-handed methods).
In this case, they were shouting things like, “Who’s making all the racket in here?” or something like that, trying to goad the spirit into interacting with them. Well, they got a reaction! Most of the rooms
in the hotel have various amounts of debris and left
over supplies from abandoned construction. Well, on
camera, a brick could be seen wobbling a little on the
floor, then levitating into the air, and flying at them as if thrown – but no thrower was visible! Well,
suffice it to say that the padlock on the main door
didn’t keep them from getting out of the hotel in a BIG hurry!!! Honestly, the apparition, and that brick
were the two most convincing ghost videos I’ve seen.
