Goldfield Hotel
Following the impregnation of a prostitute by the manager of the hotel many years ago, the manager became angry at the women for the incident and took her to his hotel. As her pregnancy became more obvious, he chained her to the radiator in one of the rooms., and when the baby was born, he killed them both. The hotel has been closed for many years with no power to any part of it, but on some nights there are several lighted rooms. Workers have been hired on several different occasions to do restoration on the hotel, and due to the many unexplained incidents, the hotel restoration has never been completed and has changed hands several times. There have been several ghosts seen in several parts of the hotel, including the prostitute, the original owner, and two other men. Paranormal experts have visited the hotel many times and have determined that it is one of the nine portals that connect our world with the spirit world.

Yeah! I saw that same show ya’ll are talkin’ about. I was falling asleep so I recorded it and watched it this morning. It is really convincing. I had to rewind it several times just to see the brick move thru the air. I have read alot of stuff about this hotel and I have found that depending on where your at,the story is told a couple of different ways. The one on the show last night stated that the prostitute “Eliabeth” was chained to a radiator in her room and when she gave birth some guy named “George Winfield” threw the baby down a mineshaft in the basement and starved “Elizabeth” to death in her room. She was still chained to the radiator when they found her body.

I’ve seen an episode of Hauted Adventures on 07/25/07, and two guys went into the hotel. They actually caught the ghost picking up a brick and throwing it across the room along with levatating some boards. You could hear foot steps. And they got EVP’s of Elizebeth talking to the former caretaker of the building (an older lady) by the name of Virginia. She had asked if Elizebeth if she would speak with her and she was recorded as saying “No”. Very freaky place!

Google the Goldfield Hotel and one of those sites has a P.O. Box address, you may be able to get a hold of the owner that way.

I saw this special on SCI-FI, it was great. I would love to visit this place as well. I want to stay the night though and see if this is real. I really think I could make it all night. It takes a lot to scare me. I am always looking for a ghostly encounter.

Although there are other ghosts supposed to reside within the Goldfields Hotel the most interesting ones are George Winfield the former owner of the Hotel and that of a prostitute by the name of Elizabeth.
It was said to be that George got Elizabeth pregnant and kept her tied to a radiator in room 109 during the time that she carried this child.
Upon giving birth George took the newborn and threw it down a water well that was located in the basement of the hotel, killing the child, he then staved the prostitute Elizabeth until eventually she passed away, these two souls are said to still haunt the Goldfield Hotel.
The basement is said to have a gateway to the other side in which much of the Goldfields activity takes place from the basement location.
Other stories of a gun slinger are also reported in the hallways and that of a spirit who tries to stab you with what has been described as a kitchen knife

I have been to this hotel twice and both times i have been there, they were open! They were cleaning the rooms that someone had actually been sleeping in that day. They let us walk around the halls and look into the rooms they were cleaning. Gold Hill is located about 2 or 3 miles south of Virginia City.

There is some confusion among some of these posts. GOLDFIELD Hotel is located approximately 3 1/2 hours from Las Vegas, southern portion of Nevada. GOLD HILL Hotel is located approximately 2 1/2 miles from Virginia City, Northern portion of Nevada. Gold Hill is open and you can rent rooms. Much of Virginia City is said to have paranormal activity. It is well worth the trip. Goldfield is not open and the people that live in the town are pretty protective of the property. The local police keep a good eye on it. The stories mentioned prior to this post are all true and apply only to the Goldfield Hotel. Here are some links for anyone wanting more information.

Goldhill: http://www.goldhillhotel.net/
Our group is planning an investigation there in November 2007. We will post information pertaining to this shortly after. We are excited and looking forward to our time there.
If anyone knows of any paranormal activity and/or true paranormal stories in the Southern Nevada area and you are willing to share them, please post, or send information to us at: timntay@hotmail.com or http://www.nvprs.com (Nevada Paranormal Research Society. We are also happy to send you what we are aware of.

Halloween day I came across “Ghost Adventures” on Sci Fi. This episode was haunted locations in Nevada and the Goldfield Hotel was featured. The directors, Zach Bagans and Nick Groff spent the night and filmed some of the wickedest and most amazing footage I’ve EVER seen. Poltergeist activity in one room of a brick being flung and a levitating piece of wood really tripped me out. Also caught on tape was the ‘gunman’s’ shadow coming from around the corner. A few Orbs and recordings of voices were also documented. It was a GREAT show. I compare it to Sci Fi’s Ghost Hunters’ Manson Murder episode. That intense! (Filmed in 2006)

I’ve have always been fascinated since i lived in a house growing up with these paranormal activities going on. I did not say any thing to my parents. When i was home from college i saw this old man in my room. The same old man that would wake me up at night,Would be outside of the house when i would come home. The same Ghost that would stand by my crib when i was a bay no matter what room. The same one that my parents would see walk from the parlor up stairs.Down to the kitchen to the pool house .He would even open the doors of the house. The same man that the neighbors told my parent about when they bought the property.I have always been able to tell if there is something going on.I don’t feel weird but this or even scared . But i would give the owners of the Gold field Hotel 100,000 to stay in the hotel Alone for one night . I saw the Sci fi . Ghost adventure with Zach Bagan, Nick Groff. And there is nothing to run from…

I saw a 2 hour show on this city and they spent an hour on the GoldField. What they captured on film, if you have any doubt that ghosts exist, this film will change your mind. Actual flying bricks caught on film and the events that occured in this hotel were enough to get the ghost hunters to jump out of a second story window to get out of the hotel in which they were locked. Professionals reviewed the film as well as physics professors and have determined it to be authentic.

To get a complete picture of the Goldfield Hotel tragedy, take a little time and read about George Wingfield. It puts the murder of Elizabeth and her baby in perspective.
In 1908, when the hotel was opened, George was newly-married himself. His career in banking was beginning to take off, and he would have lost everything had the scandal of an out-of-wedlock child been spread.
I’m not condoning George’s actions at all, but reading further about him gives a more complete picture of the times in which they lived, and what would compel a man like him to commit so heinous an act.

I also saw the show last night and was very impressed. Does anyone know how to get in touch with the owner? Do they offer any type of tours? I usually watch Ghost Hunters (Taps), they seem pretty legit. I have never seen Ghost Adventures before, are they as credible?
