Real Haunted House

Goldfield Hotel

Goldfield, Nevada

Following the impregnation of a prostitute by the manager of the hotel many years ago, the manager became angry at the women for the incident and took her to his hotel. As her pregnancy became more obvious, he chained her to the radiator in one of the rooms., and when the baby was born, he killed them both. The hotel has been closed for many years with no power to any part of it, but on some nights there are several lighted rooms. Workers have been hired on several different occasions to do restoration on the hotel, and due to the many unexplained incidents, the hotel restoration has never been completed and has changed hands several times. There have been several ghosts seen in several parts of the hotel, including the prostitute, the original owner, and two other men. Paranormal experts have visited the hotel many times and have determined that it is one of the nine portals that connect our world with the spirit world.

Saw the show on SciFi about this hotel..the one with the video footage of the flying bricks and the post-processing effects proving there was no string or line attached to the brick, and the physics professor explaining it would’ve taken a very thick and sturdy string to move a brick with that much exertion in such a short time – a string would’ve been visible had it been a hoax. Best ghost video footage I’ve ever seen. Left me a bit disturbed, but intrigued, after watching it. Clearly, human visitors aren’t welcome….

My husband worked on the hotel during one of it renovations. The reason they stopped and I believe sold is because the owner went way over budget. The story we heard was that the owners teenage daughter was the one pregnant and she died in childbirth. The room that she was lock up in was used as the storage room for the carpenters. My husband was one of the few with the key. Besides the usual banging, knocking, and footsteps there is one story I remember. One Friday night he locked up and the next Monday morning when he unlocked the door he smelled purfume and heard a faint cry.

Hello, everyone! I know for a fact that if you find out the name of the county that the hotel is in you can contact the county court house. Ask to speak to the person in charge of property taxes, tell them that you would like the name of the owner of the GoldStein Hotel. Under law they have to provide you with that information. Then you can try to find an address online or if the property tax person is nice maybe they will give you contact information. Good luck and happy ghost hunting!

I cannnot beleive some of the stories I am reading on this board about the GoldField Hotel.
The womans name is Elizabeth, she locked in room 109 until she had the baby, at that time her and the baby was killed, noone was thrown down the mine shaft.
There is many ghost living in this hotel and proof has been brought out of this.
No one has access to the hotel anymore except the care taker Viginia and a couple of picked groups that have went it to the hotel to investigate.
There is No trespassing signs on the hotel and anyone breaking in will be prosecuted.
This is not a place you would like to be at in the dark alone.
The noises, banging, voices, and shadows alone are terrifying.
This hotel is a wonderful old building that is going to be re built, but please! dont read everything you read on the web, it is all added to.

Okay, to put this one to bed finally….

Room 109 is said to be the room where the prostitute Elizabeth was chained to the radiator until she had the baby of George Wingfield, POSSIBLY. I’ve also seen stories that it was not his baby but he became angry with her for getting pregnant. I’ve also seen something that says her name may have actually been Gertie.

The story goes George Wingfield took the baby once it was born and threw it down a chute to the abandoned mine under the hotel at either the north or north-east end of the basement. Elizabeth/Gertie is said to wander the 2nd floor and room 109 sadly looking for her child. The most common reports of contact with her is a cold feeling while being touched and the smell of Lilac.

The Gold Room (supposedly the main dining room or a room on the 3rd floor) “The Stabber” lingers. It is said to randomly attack people crossing into the room, however nobody has ever been injured. It then immediatly dissapears after the attack.

On the first floor stairs it is reported two small children and a midget sneak up behind people and pull on their clothes before giggling and running away.

Two more ghosts are reported to be on the third floor from people who commited suicide. One from a woman who hung herself, the other a man who jumped from a 3rd story window, however he is also reported to have jumped from a 2nd story window.

Finally George Wingfield is said to be in the first floor rooms, leaving the smell of cigar smoke and fresh cigar ashes on the floor.

Just a clarification….there was no mineshaft under or even near the building unitl after George Wingfield had sold the building and left the area.

I’m not a big beleiver in ghosts and such, but I did see “something” cross the street in front of the hotel once before that I cannot explain.

OK people. I am a believe as many of us are. Now the problem I have with this story of Elizabeth, locked in room 109 until she had the baby, at that time her and the baby was killed, and thrown down the mine shaft is: for one, where did this story come from, Two, why was the man never put in jail. Three, has anyone botherd to locate the suppose infant body in the shaft. would someone such as the staff of the hotel, or even guest herd her pleas for help or came across her located in a room. She would had to be well hidden for no one to have seen or herd her. Has anyone searched the newspapers of that time to see what was recorded. yes, i believe but where are the facts to this story. P.S Iam in the state of GA, for those who are interested to form a group trip to visit and possible talk the owner into letting the group spend the night, iam sure it can be done if a fee is presented to him. Those who would like to go there and do just that, write me at: bunnylongleggs@yahoo.com. I would love to check it out and research the truth behind the story in the city records..ect.

This story has completely been debunked. I belong to a Paranormal team, P.I.T.O.N. Paranormal Investigation Team of Nevada. We investigated the Goldfield Hotel and talked to the caretaker, who tells the truth Not to say the Hotel is not haunted nor the surrounding town. For more information about our investigation please visit our website and see the interview with Virginia Ridgeway Caretaker. http://www.pitonlv.com
