Real Haunted House

Governor’s Bridge

Anne Arundel County, Maryland

Many years ago, a young unmarried teen-aged girl became pregnant. Afraid to tell her parents, the girl took her newborn baby and dropped it over the side of the bridge. Realizing what she had done, the girl jumped from the bridge and fell to her own death. Today, the woman stands in the middle of the bridge, frightening drivers. One truck driver drove into the side of the bridge trying to avoid hitting the woman. When police went to investigate the scene, there was no evidence of anyone having been on the bridge.

Oh, and additionally, it’s the same type of thing, people will go down there, or used to, because now there’s a no trespassing sign. Anyway, a lot of times, people’s cars have stalled, wouldn’t start up. They’ve seen an glowing image of a girl come down the hill down towards the bridge. Also, there is a small, old cemetary nearby. Just seems kind of strange, the similarities. Guess these kind of spirits like water, old cemetaries, and old bridges. Middle Bridge Road goes over Drakes Creek here. There are lots of stories and sightings here. IT’s mentioned in a couple books as well.

I GREW UP IN EDGEWATER MARYLAND, WHICH IS NOT FAR FROM THIS BRIDGE. I HAVE GONE THERE MANY TIMES AND HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING UNUSUAL. IT IS A VERY CREEPY PLACE, WAY BACK IN THE WOODS WITH NOTHING ELSE AROUND. VERY DARK THERE AT NIGHT, A GREAT PLACE TO CHECK OUT IF YOU HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO.

I have been there, numerous times with several people. At no point did I experience anything supernatural, but two out of 10 times a sudden cold fog rolls in around the bridge and makes it nearly impossible to see.

I heard that a man was returning from war or something. He told his wife and she was so excited that she took her baby and walked down the road to meet up with him. The man was driving fast and couldn’t really see. He hit his wife and the baby fell into the river… Its a really sad story. I heard this in a book about Maryland. I dont know if it is true or not.

I heard that the story was a young couple had a baby and the girl couldn’t face her parents. The couple decided that they would run away. Going over the bridge, the tire on the truck popped. While the man was fixing the tire, the women got out of the car and put the baby (in a car seat) on the bridge. The water was really high and a wave swept over the bridge and took the baby with it. The girl, panicked, tried to grab the baby and she got her foot stuck and fell off and drowned. The man panicked and drove off leaving his tire iron there. He was never seen again.
The story is that if you go to the bridge and park your car there and turn it off you can see the women running down the bank looking for her baby. you can also hear the cry of the baby that died. Another thing is that if you taunt the spirits, the man will kill you with his tire iron.

I saw this zombie ghost type shadow figure thing and he walked off the band camp with my trumpet and I chased after that creature try to get my instrument back however he disappeared along with my trumpet. Now, I am filing a law suit on the band camp for not telling us of creature stealing trumpets for no reason.

My brother, many friends and i have gone four wheeling in those woods and over that bridge a million times, at all different hours. We have never seen or heard anything. We all heard the stories growing up. We have all called it “Cry Baby Bridge” but only bc growing up thats what every one called it. But again, NEVER actually seen or heard anything. And trust me we’ve looked and listened!!!!

My husband and I drove up to the “Crybaby Bridge” on govn. Bridge rd. I am not gonna lie, it was creepy as hell and smelled horrible. And yes I know the stories. I really could have
Lived without is realizing we parked over a shredded deer carcus -.-‘which was very odd because on our first trip across the bridge we didn’t see it. Then you get all the stupid drunk fucktards that are annoying as all he’ll, following you around and being nosey and watching you like a lost child. Anyway, we didnt really get to see much due to those ” oh so cool” drunk *****. My hubby and I plan to go back on another night and check it out again.’we
Will walk around the bridge and scope underneath it. That is if we can get passed that rotting smell.

yea, um crybaby bridge was not actually from a teenage mother blah blah. its the bridge that the kkk used to throw black babies off of, they also used to have meetings in the huge train tunnel. Ive been over the bridge and the tunnel. I found a noose and i went halfway through the tunnel just felt like it was never going to end. it was cold and at points we saw our breath. idkk, see for yourself.

I have driven over this bridge many times and quite often at night it is a one way bridge and when the river rises is often flooded but never have I driven across it at night and seen a women standing on the bridge or heard a crying baby. My ex husbands grandparents along with several friends of ours live off this road. While it makes for a good ghost story its not true.

Sounds like another woman in white type of story. They’re all over the place. They generally occur when a mother does away with her children for whatever reason then in terrible gilt and grief they do away with themselves. I’m a born and raised Marylander. I heard this story off and on throughout the years and one night a couple of friends and I got together to see if we would experience anything. Nothing happened to us out there that night but it was creepy. I think part of the creepy feelings at these sites comes from expectation of something happening not necessarily from something paranormal. I’ve long been a student of the paranormal. I term myself as a skeptical believer. I’ve experienced too many things personally to discount it but on the other hand, I really need something convincing to happen to me personally before I’ll agree a place is haunted. Too much stuff can be faked any more.

So me and my friends went there about 30 minutes ago. On the way home we started feeling watched and one of my friends freaked out, and started getting sick. We stopped at a BP gas station and looked on my roof, there were hand prints and a spot were something looked dragged, along with scratches that weren’t there before.

I heard there was this girl who had a baby and put it under the bridge and left. The baby was possessed and is half boy half goat and you can still hear the baby crying at night.

Miracle says:

December 8, 2011, 5:22 pm

The story is very true ! the girl stabbed herself before falling off. Many things happen on that bridge. A old civil war guy drinking on the side of the brindge. seeing the girl jump off , throwing the baby over, standing in the middle of the lanes or in the middle of the river standing. Globs of light in the woods.

This bridge is the one they call “Crybaby Bridge” it is in Odenton, right past Piney Orchard, it’s a long, dark winding road (which I love to drive in the day and at night). Never seen anything but then again that doesn’t mean that it’s not without spirits…

Never seen anything but then again that doesn’t mean that it’s not without spirits…And there have been many people who claim to have had encounters in that area. My husband told me about it when we were dating and he lived up at Capital Raceway. He’s from NC so this mystery went pretty far…

Well, the spooky lady must have gotten beyond her anguish. I live in the immediate area, have been there for 14 years, cross the bridge all of the time, and I have yet to encounter the chick. If she knows what’s good for her, she’ll stay gone.

I spent alot of time here as a young adult and many unexplainable things occured. One time it looked as though a car had drivin through the barrier blocking the entrance onto the bridge during construction. We all ran scared and when we looked back a woman dressed in white in the middle of the bridge. Didn’t stay to investigate we were petrified but came back the next day and confirmed that no car could have been on the bridge. Def haunted!

I live in the neighborhood next to the bridge. To be honest, I never thought the bridge could be haunted until it got closed down and I walked down there one day. Since I never really walked on the bridge before, I took my time examining and something immediately caught my eye. I looked up near one side of the bridge, and there seemed to be some sort of rope that was cut off and hanging from there. I am NOT joking. I’ll send a URL of a pic if I get one.

I’ve lived under the bridge for five years now. I’m a serial killer by profession. My last victim graciously let me borrow her laptop. Haha. Anyway, never heard any baby cry. Just the cries of my victims. You people are nuts! Cry baby bridge……that’s rich!! Lol. It keeps me busy though, so for that I thank you…….curious teens. I hear a couple approaching now. Hahaha. Back to work. See ya soon.

I’m one of the better experts on this bridge. Its reffered to as Crybaby bridge. Its a few blocks away from Bowie Baysox stadium. Just follow governors bridge road. Crybaby bridge is very deep in the woods. I usually get out and take photos. I consider this a top 5 haunted location

I don’t know what to tell the skeptics, but this place had something really going on and its creepy,I went there today after a movie at Bowie town center out of curiosity.I took a 4 min video while I was driving over the bridge a few times,I stopped got out and recorded more close-up.I saw and heard nothing while I was recording, but when I pulled over to reveiw my boring footage I noticed something or someone growling at me once I stepped out of the car, note I heard nothing it was dead silent when I got out of the car to record, but art that point in the video there was clearly something growling at me as soon as I stepped foot out of my vehicle, just knowing that something might have been there with me when I was outside the car growling at me scared the living grap out of me,I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK TO THAT PLACE…..I called several people after that and they tried to make sense of it but couldn’t,I kept trying to explain to them that I didn’t hear a thing while I was recording outside of my car but when I played it back you can clearly hear growls, someone tell me how the hell that is possible..Maybe I’m crazy but I know what I heard on my video and I’m pretty dumb sure that place is has some kind of activity going on…Just my take, thanks for letting me tell my story..
