Governor’s Bridge
Many years ago, a young unmarried teen-aged girl became pregnant. Afraid to tell her parents, the girl took her newborn baby and dropped it over the side of the bridge. Realizing what she had done, the girl jumped from the bridge and fell to her own death. Today, the woman stands in the middle of the bridge, frightening drivers. One truck driver drove into the side of the bridge trying to avoid hitting the woman. When police went to investigate the scene, there was no evidence of anyone having been on the bridge.

Question?
Do you ever know things before they happon? Be going about your every day routine, to suddenly Feel like I’ve got to get out of here NOW!!! RUN,RUN,GO! Then tell yourself, stop it! nothing is wrong! second guess yourself. (Spend years thinking you have panic attacks) Only to run full speed from what you keep trying to tell yourself is nothing. Then find out your fear was justified, and thank God you left when you did? Ever have a feeling about someone or yourself, pop into your head, real quick to where you won’t even hear it if you choose not to. Only to find out it happoned or the thought plays out the next day. Do you seem to “Feel” the emotions of total strangers? Dispair, Hurt, Physical & emotional? Just want to tell them why they are upset, cause they are confused, and how it is all going to play out, cause you know it will bring them peace. But you cant cause the men in the white coats will be waiting for you?
The reason for my questions: If your answers are yes. Guess What? Your not nuts! You are what is called “Sensitive”. (A, Sensitive). You unconsciously are affected by small changes around you. Such as, environment, emotions or curcumstances of others. You are Sensitive to the world around you. Not everyone is. This is why some see or feel those who died in dispair and can sort of connect with them and then some will never believe cause they will never see. They just don’t have it.
Anyway, Haunted House!!!
A house was built on Quarterfield rd, about 8 years ago. Beautiful home, santa fe style rancher. When A custom home is built like this the people stay. Not in this house. The house took a year to build, and has had 3 different owners. The owners only live in the house on average 1 year. The house sits empty average 1 year, that in itself is strange when you see this beautiful home. A situation required me to go to this house, knock on the door, give the tennent some good news. I rung the door bell and left! I brought my husband back and wanted to see if he felt the sensation, and he’s not sensitive. Well he did! Know one was home and the airconditioner was off but the curtains in one room would open, then it would move the the next room then stop. the sensation was electric. The hair stood up on your arms. you feel “Her” right away. I feel it is a girl, a young girl who was killed, along time ago. I think or feel she is in the court yard of the house, she wants to go home. Give her parents closure. Such saddness. If you ever get to experiance this house. Be careful. and Respectful of the owners property. Again the house is vacant.
If you have any info about the house or “her” submit a comment, mabe give “her” closure

I went to Governor’s Bridge last night, a.k.a cry baby bridge. It’s a rusted old metal bridge deep in the woods that sits over sewage water. I’ve lived in Annapolis for a long damn time, and have heard at least 30 different stories about the bridge. So Halloween night, me and my friend’s decided to go, and of course nothing eerie happened at all. We stood on the bridge for about an hour and a half, because we had nothing better to do. Perhaps I should debunk some myths here. The reason there are so many accidents near governor’s bridge is because of the dark, very narrow, and winding construction of the roads. The bridge itself is only wide enough for one car to go over. So I attribute the number of accidents to this, and not some ghost car. Yes, you can see cars in the water below the bridge, but that is because the bridge sits over what use to be a junk yard, and still remains a dump for trash. Lastly, the baby story is true. My grandmother remembers this from 1963. A young girl did indeed toss her baby to the water below; at the time the bridge was nothing more than a rickety wooden footbridge. However, my grandmother states that young girls all around the nation would frequently throw their baby’s off bridges because teenage, and out of wedlock pregnancies were socially unacceptable. Abortion was not accessible, and birth control was new, so it wasn’t widely used. Girls would hide their pregnancies, and dispose of the babies before anyone knew something was a miss. So that is why there are tons of “cry baby” bridges across the nation. Point is, there are no ghost cars that cause you to wreck, no lady that walks the bridge, no crying baby being heard, and nothing paranormal at all. It’s all urban legend.

It’s really funny reading everyone’s version of cry-baby bridge..I will admit at first you think it’s bull*** I went there 3 or 4 different times with different friends…I never heard no baby crying…but…there was a black car that had chased a car full of us one time like it was going to hit us off the road…if your going down towards the bridge and that big barn with all the graffiti is on your right..turn around and make a right on the dirt road..that is the scariest frickin road..cause that’s where this happened at…and the bad thing about it is that it disappeared…I know what we saw, and it’s the truth…the 2nd time we went back to actually hear the so called baby and didn’t hear notta, but we did get pulled over by the police because we were being so obvious…So there might not be no baby crying…but there’s something…On that dirt road…and if you got marbles walk it!!!!!!!

My cousin and I were on our way back to her house one night last summer. She lives in Upper Marlboro…and we do know of this one bridge that neighbors and ourselves have called “cry baby bridge”…its a super low bridge that stands above a very shallow stream. This particular road is ALWAYS foggy…esp. at night, the clouds are low and usually the weather has shifted to be a little bit chillier…anyways…this one particular night we’re driving home and we’re just about to reach the bridge when my cousin starts flipping out like she all of the sudden remembered where we were and she wants to turn around and get the hell out of there cause she never drives over the bridge at night. So since she is freaking out, I start getting scared too, and I tell her she’s just got to drive, and we’ll be over it in a matter of seconds….but she had already stopped in the middle of the road…which to me was worse than just sucking it up and driving over it…yes, so we’re STOPPED on this skinny little dark road, about 25 feet away from the bridge, and we both start yelling she says she “cant go…she wont go” I’m yelling “GO! JUST GO! GO!” so finally she floors it and I’m holding onto my seat with all I’ve got and I close my eyes, and we’re over it. We’re both scared out of our minds, but I am stupid and curious; so I look in the side view mirror just to see if I can see any thing…it could have been my imagination but I’m almost possitive I saw something move across the road in the fog…the fact that the fog was reflecting our car’s breaklights didnt make the situation any better…cause I just remember this image of a figure shown in a hazy red light.
I wont drive over that bridge at night, unless I’m with my parents.

I agree with Shadow that the Governor’s Bridge is not very high and it’s still a one-way bridge the last time I went down it – last year. I didn’t particularly care for going over it as it’s metal and you can see thru it. Now maybe there are several Governor’s Bridges throughout MD, which is possible. I don’t see how anyone would be killed jumping off this bridge besides maybe breaking your ankle or something. You know how it goes, until you do a lil background check on the stories that’s the only way you’re going to find out what’s truth or folklore.

I pass over this bridge frequently as a shortcut to get to Chik-fil-a for breakfast in the morning. The bridge is located on Govenor’s Bridge Rd. Halfway between Davisonville MD and Bowie MD. The Patuxent River passes under th bridge, this is the not only the dividing point for the 2 towns listed above, but also for Prince Georges and Anne Arundel County. I want to urge everyone to use extreme caution, this bridge is on a very windey and dangerous Rd. The bridge itself is a one lane bridge so you must stop before passing to make sure that there is no oncoming traffic. Also another word of warning, drunkards commonly use this backroad to avoid police. Be careful!! I don’t drive the road alone at night and and anytime I go over that road I always say a special prayer of protection. The bridge has it’s fair share of legends and stories associated with it but the surrounding swamp and marsh land are equally as creepy and haunted. There used to a be a little area right before the bridge on the PG side where you could park but just recently Jersey Barriers have been placed to block off the entrance. if you would like more info you can contact me at the following genegroom “at” verizon. net You should leave the spaces out and use the @ for “at” i do this so my email won’t be spammed. I do live fairly close to this location.

The story below about the house on Quarterfield Rd….totally true. I know a friend who lived right down the street. We walked down one night and it just seems so creepy and looks if they just picked up and left. Also…I never thought about the little girl but there are a lot of stuffed animals upstairs. Oh and if you get a chance go in the garage in the back yard…it is like a hanger as people call. I found a lot of blue prints and weird stuff. My friend actually has blue prints from Annapolis mall framed. It is just a creepy place!

There are many cry baby bridges…but if you notice this Bridge always comes up when you are searching for haunted places in Maryland. I lived near the bridge for a very long time and still do. Now, the girl never jumped, too shallow….she had the baby and her parents dis-owned her, she lied and told them she was giving the baby up…but really bundled the baby up and tossed into the water…feeling so guilty she went back to the bridge later that night and choked her self over the side simply by dangling. They found the woman of course as well as the baby..thats how the story came to be….
I believed it but never that it was haunted, untill 3 years ago in the summer time….its kinda funny how people commenting about flat tires above..because i came along at 2:30am just before the bridge with a flat tire..living there so long i didnt care about walking..it wasnt that far and it was warm. So I got out put my hazards on and started to walk…..I came to the middle of the bridge and heard the sound of someone struggling for air? stopped in fear..i mean completely almost pissed my pants..i couldnt move..literally, I felt the coldest air surround me and behind me almost like someone whispered in my ear when i turned quickly to look a car was coming and i suddenly was able to move aside….
it happened so fast…but it was so scarey and realistic that it seemed like it was never ending…i definately belive that s**t, without a doubt because i experienced it without even believing it was even haunted..untill that crazy *** night.
