Real Haunted House

Governor’s Bridge

Anne Arundel County, Maryland

Many years ago, a young unmarried teen-aged girl became pregnant. Afraid to tell her parents, the girl took her newborn baby and dropped it over the side of the bridge. Realizing what she had done, the girl jumped from the bridge and fell to her own death. Today, the woman stands in the middle of the bridge, frightening drivers. One truck driver drove into the side of the bridge trying to avoid hitting the woman. When police went to investigate the scene, there was no evidence of anyone having been on the bridge.

   I am 40 years old and have lived in the davidsonville area all of My life. I,along with everyone else, have heard the storys.I,ve been “snipe hunting”when I was young there.Snipe hunting is just a front to trick You into the woods to be left behind alone in the dark.I never seen or heard anything other than the normal nocturnal creatures.I’ve fish overnight and been to many blowout partys there.Governor Bridge is Not Haunted!The only thing out-of-place at the bridge was us walking across the top buzzed out of our stupid brains.

I HAVE BEEN TO GOVERNOR’S BRIDGE SEVERAL TIMES AND IN MY OPINION IT IS HAUNTED, I DO HAVE A PRETY IMPRESSIVE PICTURE THAT I MYSELF TOOK A FEW YEARS AGO. I ACTUALLY TRIED TONIGHT TO GET THERE WITH MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER FOR HER FIRST GHOST HUNT BUT DUE TO THE HEAVY RAINS THE BRIDGE WAS CLOSED BUT I WILL BE TRYING AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. I THINK IF YOU WANT A TRUE PARANORMAL EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE TO CHECK OUT GOVERNORS BRIDGE, IT IS EXCITING EVEN IF YOU DON’T SEE ANYTHING ON YOUR FIRST TRIP. I THINK MORE THAN ONE TRIP IS REQUIRED BEFORE YOU GIVE UP ON A HAUNTING, TRUST ME IT’S WORTH A SECOND LOOK.

I worked on gov bridge road for over 7 years and i have crossed that bridge probably hundreds of times. probably about 95% of those times in daylight…and i have never seen or felt anything out of the ordinary. Granted, rarely crossed it at night and never stopped ON the bridge. im curious to go check it out late tonight for ***** and giggles though!

on a side note….

I live in crofton, md. this past summer my friend and i were driving around on some back roads off of patuxent road. (if you’re on 424 and and go straight across route 3. go straight for a while, when you get to the stop sign, most people turn right. go left or straight) at the end of one of those roads, i dont remember which one, there was a church. i dont remember the name, or ever hearing anything about it. the roads themselves were terrifying, just driving with the windows down freaked us out. it was the middle of summer but it felt like it was 40 degrees out. anyways, we parked in the church parking lot thinking we could catch our breath. bad idea. the church was pitch black. we got an weird, freaked out feeling and all the sudden a red glow turned on inside the church and we saw a shadow pass by a window. there were no other cars in the parking lot.

so we turned around and went back to where we started and went down the other not so popular road. call us whimps but it was terrifying. we couldnt even make it all the way down. the pavement stopped and it was gravel. the trees just seemed to encompass you on the road like there was no way out. when we’re feeling brave we’re going back, we want to see if something for real actually happens.

~~~~
i know exactly what roads you are talking about! i used to frequently drive down patuxent road as a teenager…
i have ALWAYS thought those 2 roads were creepy. even in broad daylight. i also am familiar with that church that is mentioned…i have used that parking lot a couple of times to turn around (never stopped)…while the roads are creepy, i have personally never experienced anything i would classify as paranormal.
but knowing im not the only person that those roads creep out is pretty cool :)
Thus, she set the trend for young mothers all over Baltimore area to dump their babies after birth. Except now, that nasty city has garbage filled alleys, festering dumpsters, and rats the size of humans to carry these babies away. It’s a sick, sick world we live in. These women deserve the death penalty……..why do they only get 5-10 yrs? It’s unjust!
OK, so the girl was afraid her parents found out she was pregnant, so she just kept her huge belly hidden for 9 months ? And the truck driver couldn’t prove the girl was on that bridge that night ? And the police couldn’t find any evidences of the girl’s presence either ? WOW, THAT’S SOOO SCARY… Driver = drunk. Police = Stupid. Girl = fake.
I went the other night with a friend of mine, and We tried a few of the things that are found in all the cry baby bridge stories to see if we could stir something up. We got our map quest directions for a house that was for sale on Gov. Bridge Road, and off we set. From Baltimore County down to AA county. We got onto Gov Bridge Rd and kept going till we came upon the bridge. The one lane blue toned metal bridge was eerie looking, as we pulled up, but of course thats not enough. With everything you read you expect it to be eerie, hope it is at least. We park the car after we drive across the bridge on a dirt patch so if any cars were to come we wouldnt get hit, and we got out and walked up onto the bridge. It was about 2am when we arrived, and it was pitch black. The height of the bridge was not anything to be amazed by, so I would assume the girl hung herself, and the baby was thrown over. But anyway; we turned out the 1 flashlight we had, and yelled, “crybaby crybaby” as loud as we could. But didnt hear nor see anything. we walked back and forth across the bridge.. looking out over it, but nothing really that couldnt be explained. just shadows that upon a closer examine with the light were objects along the water and rocks in the water. We got in the car and turned the lights on, shining on the bridge, then walked back up to the bridge. and we could see what looked like a white rope or thick string hanging from the bridge, but when we walked up to it, there was nothing there. We figured maybe it was a spider web, but it looked a lot thicker, like a shoe string type thickness. We looked at each other, and brushed it off as possible just the light hitting something. we walked back to the car, and pulled onto the bridge itself, rolled the windows down, turned out the lights, and the car off. Sat for a few minutes. We didnt bring a camera because I had just gotten off work, and was pretty unprepared. But either way, nothing happened from that point, and we left to head to NotchCliff Road another so-called ghaunted road closer to home in Baltimore County.
I’m going back tonite, to Gov Bridge Road, with a few friends, a camera and some better equipment, I will post on what happens when I return.
MT MOM TOOK MY SISTER AND I THERE WHEN I WAS LIKE 8. I’M 29. THE STORY WE ALWAYS HEARD WAS NONE I HAVE HEARD ANYONE TALK ABOUT. IT WAS SET IN THE 1800 HUNDREDS AND A COUPLE AND THEIR BABY WERE IN A HORSE DRAWN CARRIAGE ON A RAINY NIGHT AND THE ENTIRE THING WENT CRASHING OF THE BRIDGE AND KILLED THEM. THIS IS WHY U CAN HERE THE BABY CRY.
YOU WOULD THINK THAT ME BEING 8 I WOULD NOT REMEMBER SUCH A TRIP, BUT I DO. I WAS HYSTERICAL WHEN WE WERE ON THE BRIDGE, IT WAS SO CREEPY. I LIVE IN VA NOW, BUT I TOLD MY BOYFRIEND ABOUT IT AND WE ARE GOING TO CHECK IT OUT 2MORO. MY MOM SAID THAT THEY HAVE BUILT ALOT OF HOUSES AND MADE IT A SUBURBAN AREA NOW. I WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW IT GOES.
I’ve heard about this story. I believe it’s true. Also, isn’t it the one where the baby can be heard crying? I’ve read the other comments in here but still makes you think.. When one dies where do we go?
Rie says:
I grew up near the bridge and the story is completely an urban legend. There is a wildlife refuge right before you get to the bridge that has various animals, including a tiger. What noises that are heard are probably from these animals. The so-called satanic church is down Conway Road in Odenton, which is not near the bridge.
Several years ago my friends and I would go there frequently. We never heard a baby cry, but we did hear lots of wierd noises coming from the woods. One night we walked down and saw hundreds of glow worms (the only way to describe them) and one of the guys took off running in the woods and we could hear him yelling. After about 15 minutes he finally came back all scratched up and talking incoherently. He never said what he saw or how he got so deeply scratched, but, you can bet he never went back with us again.
