Real Haunted House

Governor’s Bridge

Anne Arundel County, Maryland

Many years ago, a young unmarried teen-aged girl became pregnant. Afraid to tell her parents, the girl took her newborn baby and dropped it over the side of the bridge. Realizing what she had done, the girl jumped from the bridge and fell to her own death. Today, the woman stands in the middle of the bridge, frightening drivers. One truck driver drove into the side of the bridge trying to avoid hitting the woman. When police went to investigate the scene, there was no evidence of anyone having been on the bridge.

Lived here my whole life. This was one of the first scary stories I heard of when I was like 6.Never been there and dont know anyone personally who has and has heard anything. Interesting though to hear stories. Then came Goatmans Bridge whic is located on Gardner Road between Accokeek, MD and Waldorf, MD. It used to be a one lane bridge, where you had to watch for oncoming traffic and see if it was safe to drive over. Now it is two lanes. I have not been out there at night and I have not seen anything during the day. Anyone got any info on this?

I went to Meade High School so it was close by..Road is creepy and never saw anything or heard anything. Couldn’t find the devil/satanic church. However isn’t it true some kids from Meade wrecked on that road and supposedly you can see watches imprinted on a tree, etc.

I was born and raised here in Maryland and have grown up knowing that cry baby bridge is in Ellicott City, Howard County. Atleast that is where I was always told and shown it was.

I actually live a few miles from this bridge. If you check through the capital you’ll see that throughout the years that quite a number of deaths have happened in and around the area. If people are interested, I would hold a trip to the bridge and show you the area in and around it.

Cathy–that’s not the same bridge, although I’ve heard stories about one of the bridges near Piney Orchard (down Conway Rd.)

OmG, that is so wierd. We have a very haunted area in my home town of Bowling Green Ky, at a place called Middle Bridge Road, very well known. People have also seen a girl, soaking wet and crying. Now that is wierd. Okay, what is it with old bridges being haunted? The story is she was attacked and murdered. I’ve also heard she just drowned. Who knows what really happened, but the wierdest thing is what the other poster described. One woman’s exhusband saw the ghost late at night walking the road in a terrible storm, soaking wet, and crying. He didn’t stop (how terrible!), because he knew it was the ghost and he was freaked out by her appearance. Honestly, I don’t truly believe in ghosts, I think they are demonic spirits just trying to fool people into thinking they are these images of ghosts of people. The similarities between the two tales are strange, that kind of validates my theory on what the true nature of these types of things are.

Oh, and additionally, it’s the same type of thing, people will go down there, or used to, because now there’s a no trespassing sign. Anyway, a lot of times, people’s cars have stalled, wouldn’t start up. They’ve seen an glowing image of a girl come down the hill down towards the bridge. Also, there is a small, old cemetary nearby. Just seems kind of strange, the similarities. Guess these kind of spirits like water, old cemetaries, and old bridges. Middle Bridge Road goes over Drakes Creek here. There are lots of stories and sightings here. IT’s mentioned in a couple books as well.

I GREW UP IN EDGEWATER MARYLAND, WHICH IS NOT FAR FROM THIS BRIDGE. I HAVE GONE THERE MANY TIMES AND HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING UNUSUAL. IT IS A VERY CREEPY PLACE, WAY BACK IN THE WOODS WITH NOTHING ELSE AROUND. VERY DARK THERE AT NIGHT, A GREAT PLACE TO CHECK OUT IF YOU HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO.

I have been there, numerous times with several people. At no point did I experience anything supernatural, but two out of 10 times a sudden cold fog rolls in around the bridge and makes it nearly impossible to see.

I heard that a man was returning from war or something. He told his wife and she was so excited that she took her baby and walked down the road to meet up with him. The man was driving fast and couldn’t really see. He hit his wife and the baby fell into the river… Its a really sad story. I heard this in a book about Maryland. I dont know if it is true or not.

I heard that the story was a young couple had a baby and the girl couldn’t face her parents. The couple decided that they would run away. Going over the bridge, the tire on the truck popped. While the man was fixing the tire, the women got out of the car and put the baby (in a car seat) on the bridge. The water was really high and a wave swept over the bridge and took the baby with it. The girl, panicked, tried to grab the baby and she got her foot stuck and fell off and drowned. The man panicked and drove off leaving his tire iron there. He was never seen again.
The story is that if you go to the bridge and park your car there and turn it off you can see the women running down the bank looking for her baby. you can also hear the cry of the baby that died. Another thing is that if you taunt the spirits, the man will kill you with his tire iron.

I saw this zombie ghost type shadow figure thing and he walked off the band camp with my trumpet and I chased after that creature try to get my instrument back however he disappeared along with my trumpet. Now, I am filing a law suit on the band camp for not telling us of creature stealing trumpets for no reason.
